"early today" starts right now. >> good morning. i'm marlie hall. >> good to be with you. i'm frances rivera. breaking news in the northwest. stranded for 30 hours, a winter storm that snarled roadways in western oregon has also trapped over 180 passengers aboard a train. starlight 11 was traveling near oak ridge when it struck a tree causing it to stop dead in its tracks. nobody was hurt but due to worsening conditions, the train has been trapped there since sunday evening. passengers were headed to klammath falls. they were working to clear the roads and get passengers off the train, but the situation is growing tire with resources running low for the dozens of people on board. joining me now on the phone is one of those passengers, carley bigby.hours. i can't imagine what that's been like. so tell us of

has been the lack of communication that has happened with amtrak to the p who are on the train. a lot of the information we've been finding out has been through news articles that we've found on social media. not even announced over the train. >> how are you guys dealing with food? are there enough resources there when it comes to that? i understand that there's some young kids there as well, some people with health issues? >> um, so the food, the snack car is officially out, so the breakfast and dinner car is offered first to the people who are in the sleeper cars, and then offered to business class and then the left overs to coach. and so as of right now, i think that we have the last meal tonight, which as aren't really eating what's being offered and so it's a lot of snacking stuff and people combining their little meals together. >> i can't imagine the patience there in that running thin for some of the passengers. carley, talk to me about how

everyone is deal, how you're dealing with it. is everyone pretty much being patient about this? >> yeah, i mean for the most part, there's just no answers. so i think everybody is kind of anxious about not having any answers that are given. i'm a teacher in klammath falls, oregon at pond rosa middle school. it's frustrating not knowing when i'll be able to get back to my classroom or back to work. i feel like a lot of people have expressed that. it's the lack of communication. we don't even know how to communicate with our families or even with our jobs. >> when you say that very quickly, do you mean thatingut who need informed? >> ceah provider that actually is really where we're going to be going. >> carly, i hope that changes for you and you get hugs from your students. carly bigby, thank you for your time. >> thank you. >> breaking news, north korean leader kim jong-un has arrived

in vietnam ahead of his second summit with president trump where two leaders will continue denuclearization talks that began last summer. as the north korean motorcade made its way to the malia hotel, the white house press core was abruptly ordered out of their dedicated work space there. for the latest let's go now to bill neely who is in hanoi. bill, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, marlie. this must be the longest journey made by any leader to any summit in recent history. 2 1/2 thousand miles by train, and then by car it took 2 1/2 days, but kim jong-un is finally here in hanoi, relaxing at his hotel about half a mile from here. lly,as you say, unusua white house press corps was ordered out of the hotel. they had no idea kim jong-un was going to stay there, but they were told very severely by vietnamese officials to get out now, and they've been relocated to the international media center.

so kim is at his hotel relaxing. we expect that at som point he will come onto the streets hereof han here of hanoi as he did in hanoi, for a walk about. president trump will arrive in five hours' time. interestingly, when kim jong-un arrived, we saw the same 12 black-suited body guards that we saw in singapore jogging alongside his mercedes-benz limousine before they got into their own cars. and as i say, drove the 105 miles to hanoi. president trump will arrive here. he'll be greeted by the vietnamese president. he'll relax at his hotel. he'll have lunch tomorrow with the vietnamese prime minister. and tomorrow evening there will be, according to sarah sanders, the white house press secretary, a brief one-on-one conversation between the president and kim jong-un before they sit down to a dinner together. that dinner will also be attended by mike pompeo, the

secretary of state, mick mulvaney, the chief of staff, and by two people from north korea, probably kim's sister and his spy chief general kim. that will be tomorrow night and then on thursday, the main summit where the stakes are high, but expectations it has to be said are pretty low. back to you. >> bill, thank you. >> and while the president is in vietnam, his former attorney is in the hot seat on capitol hill. michael cohen will kickoff three days of testimony before congress in just hours. questions about russia are off the table in tomorrow's public hearing before the house oversight committee. but that's not the case for today's behind closed doors appearance with the senate intelligence committee. nbc's susan mcinhe is joins us now from d.c. with more on what we can expected to. susan, good morning. >> reporter: hey, frances, good morning. wm michael cohen, more ing why he an earlier potential information he has regarding his cooperation of

obstruction, collusion, the hotel meeting so famous. during the time he was running for president and was making ov overtures toward russia. he will try to paint cohen as a liar and not credible witness. special counsel robert mueller russia report is due out any day. we had a comment ahead of the report from rod rosenstein who seems to be dampening expectations about the report. >> the guidance i gave my prosecutors and agents i worked with during my tenure on the front lines of law enforcement, if we aren't prepared to prove our case beyond a reasonable doubt in court, we have no business making allegations against american citizens. >> reporter: also today, the house is voting on a resolution to block president trump's emergency declaration to build that wall at the southern border. that is expected to pass the house, possibly pass the senate

and die at the president's desk where he is supposed to issue his very first veto, frances, and it will end up in the courts. >> we'll watch from here as the president is in hanoi. susan, thank you. >> the owner of the new england patriots has been charged with two counts of soliciting prostitution at a spa in jupiter, florida. robert kraft is one of many people caught in a prosecution sting in several counties in florida. the timing of one of the alleged incidents on the very morning of the patriots' afc championship game. here with the latest is nbc's kerry sanders. >> reporter: new england patriot's robert kraft joined by tom brady, kraft returning from los angeles after being spotted by tmz sports at a pre-oscars party. meantime in florida, an arrest warrant was issued for the 77-year-old, charging kraft with two counts of soliciting another to commit prostitution. if convicted, the billionaire,

along with two dozen others who were part of this takedown, could be sentenced to a year in jail. officials releasing graphic details of kraft's alleged sexual encounters at the massage parlor, one on the same day as the afc championship. on friday, a spokesman for kraft said, we categorically deny that mr. kraft engaged in any illegal activity. the nfl released a new statement promising to handle the allegation in the same way we would handle any issue under the league's personal conduct policy. >> are the clients unwittingly supporting the possibility of human trafficking? >> the alleged johns are enabling this criminal conduct to occur of human trafficking. they are fueling it with their dollars. >> this is not about lonely old men or victimless crimes. this is about enabling a network of criminals to traffic women into our country for forced labor and sex. >> reporter: prosecutors confident in their case that

they say has disturbing video evidence highlighting a serious problem. kerry sanders, nbc news, palm beach county, florida. >> singer r. kelly walked out of of a chicago jail after posting his $100,000 bail. the r & b ledge end pleaded not guilty to charges he allegedly sexually abused four victims, three of them under age. nbc's ron mott is following the story for us. >> reporter: a wild scene outside the cook county courthouse and jail facility, r & b singer r. kelly walking out before a crush of media. he appeared in an orange jump suit from jail, pleaded not guilty to ten cou abuse women, them minors when the state contends he had sexual contact with them ranging from 1998 to 2010. r. kelly has long defended himself against thighs accusations for the past 20 years. michael avenatti who says he's representing two of the alleged victims, said he turned over another video to prosecutors
