sausilito. it does slowly shifts to the south and later on today, san jose, we'll start to get some rain mainly after sunsets. i will be tracking all of that for our micro climate. mike, you have been tracking the impact on the roads. >> that's right. we had a number of spin-outs reported across the area. you have the bay bridge toll plaza, adversari adversaries. be careful right now. you see it is pretty calm as far as the flow of traffic but it is backed up there. there is that radar throughout the north bay. south of robin williams, we have little rocks coming down. some flat tires indicate lg that we'll see more of that. down the south, much calmer and a little dryer on the south as we go. >> back to you.

alameda county, where that rain had been coming down since yesterday afternoon. >> today bob redell is live for us. how is your drive in that area? >> reporter: very slick road. this is from the 4:00 hour, we are heading through the area of west oakland. you can see solo spin-out and two ambulances were called to the scene. we assume someone was hurt in this. this was weather related. just want to watch your speeds out there and perhaps the driver of that pickup truck should not take advice of this driver who we spoke to earlier. >> i was coming down at 50 miles per hour and i am still getting passed. i don't think the road

conditions are all that bad but except for the merge in california, i don't think we have a road that's not broken in the state. >> it is crazy out there, you can't ooereven see. you got to drive slower. >> reporter: any time we have this weather especially during the morning commute, chp waalwa reminds us you want to watch the speed between the driver in front of you. the speed limit that says 65 miles per hour, that's not the speed you should be driving. that's the fastest uyou are allowed to go as conditions permit. these roads are wet and slick and crowded as we get here on our morning tuesday kmicommute. bob redell. reporting live here. thank you, bob. the north bay is getting hit the hardest. here is a live look at flooding that's happening on river road near santa rosa, it is south of

the russian river. pete surato is live there this morning. the water is forcing a car to stop its in track. a river there. >> all eyes there. the russian river, that rain is coming down on the soils that's still saturated from the last one. take a look at this right here. that tree was uprooted and fell into a home. this was last night. luckily, no one was hurt. when storm hit the bay area, we keep an eye on some of those unusual trouble spots. a live look at the fairfax creek in just the past few hours of the rushing water had been rising. another problem area at san

anselmo. the creek is pretty high and it moves so quickly. that anselmo creek, boy, it could flood that downtown area. >> we have flood warning in effect in sonoma county and the russian river and the napa river. the area of flooding that we have for sonoma county goes to 11:00. the rivers and the streams have been rising and there may be some water covering the roads. here is a look at the radar and what some spot taking the break. my main concern will be the napa river and reaching above flood stage between tomorrow night and early on wednesday, rather early on thursday. we'll see the potential rising two feet over flood stage and the russian river guerneville

into part of the east bay once again and light rain in the peninsula. it will make it to the south bay. that'll not be until later on tonight while the evening commute will be sloppy for the east bay peninsula, up to san francisco and into the north bay. we'll start to see this rain measuring up into the south bay later on tonight. i will talk more about this that you can expect coming up in a few minutes, mike, you have a crash in oakland? >> most of them are called spin-outs or single car crashes because of those slick roads. it is a relatively light volume for tuesday. 880 around 16 involving of a crash, do be careful as we are clearing. once you pass the downtown exits, you are okay there. we bring in that radar that ckai

right now it is 6:14. as you are headed out the door, we are seeing scattered showers moving into the bay area. the south bay, it is cloudy and windy and kind of cool out there. we'll see a couple of sprinkles but nowhere close to our normal high temperatures of 64. rain chances going up once again for the afternoon. we'll talk about where it is pouring and how much rain we measure with how much more rain we'll see. that's coming up in less than five minutes. right now those taillights are happening. san mateo bridge, west of your commute direction. our commute heading towards the bay bridge is moving smoothly. . a very good morning and happy tuesday to you as well. stocks rose a tat. a white house backed down on its

deadline for china. tesla is really focus, elon musk, stepped it in again. musk was already in trouble with the sec for tweeting incorrect financial information about his company last fall. he aglreed to double check ever tweet me makes with tesla's board. when he tweeted this a couple of days ago, he may have violated that greagreement. he says he meant to say, tesla making cars at a rate of 500,000 cars a year but not this year. this may sound like nitpicking, you got to be careful when you are the ceo of a publicly traded company. tesla admits he did not get that tweet double checked first. the tweet was not preapproved.

he goes onto believe and must believe the substance of what he's saying is okay. maybe a ceo can get away with this, say this is a mistake, we'll do it again. musk promised he would not do it again and earlier said this about the sec on "60-minutes." >> look at you. >> i want to be clear, i do not respects the sec. i do not respect them. >> the other thing to watch them. fed chairman jerome powell is expected to testify in front of congress. he's briefing lawmakers on the economy. it could get heated as democrats are asking, as president trump is putting pressure under him. president trump is telling powell to stop raising rates even though he does not have the power to. all of a sudden the fed started

tomorrow morning. look at how much rain we are seeing right now in san rafael. it is making that commute really sloppy. we look at venado and mountain tam. mountain tam, 3.5 inches of rain and santa rosa everyone 3.5 inches of rain. one inch, san francisco and about a quarter of an inch and oakland about a tenth of an inch. we have some spot getting pounded while others are not saying much like the tri-valley in the south bay. that's the same cases this morning as we look at storm rangers as it tracks a high detail of where it is raining and where it is not so we can gate clear picture as i zoom in. marin county still seeing some heavy rain.

brett wood is still pretty much dry right now. this is what we have seen from yesterday. still some steady rain over in san francisco. then it does become widespread throughout the morning as it slowly shifts into the south. by 11:00 a.m., we may start to see that rain moving into hayward and the tri-valley but not really raining that much in the south bay and that may not happen until later on tonight. we start to see the quick movement of the system overall and early tomorrow morning, we are starting to see some clearing. these spotty showers may be strong enough to produce some thunderstorms throughout the day early tomorrow morning and afternoon. that north bay being the focus of some of that rain. we are looking at additional rainfa rainfall totals about an inch south ward and north ward much

higher rainfall totals of another 2 to 3 inches. the sierra still looking at some snow from now until early fri y friday. we may see another two or three feet of snow for elevation above 5,000 feet. we'll see a break on thursday and early friday. another storm system though moving in and bringing us scattered rain for the weekend. mike, you are still tracking that crash in oakland. >> i am. >> it is just about to clear. southbound 7. another crash reported. a little further south, you can see good volume of traffic and also the globe. soupy conditions, slick conditions, be careful out there. holding off for a tuesday, we are seeing later build for the area. oakland shows us traffic right there through the downtown area. watch as we have a couple of crashes.

ka kari hall is tracking that system that's moving through. the south bay is not seeing much at all. looking at heavy rain in san francisco and into the north bay and over those last few minutes, i have seen some of that rain moving antoning into the east b. light rain in high waayward and rain will be shift to the north and back south again. a lot to deal with here some spots of 2 to 5 inches of rain causing floodings. we don't see a lot of rain for areas south of the golden gate bridge. then you see the slow progression of that storm dipping to the south later on this evening. >> snow may not be raining

that's causing a big concern out there. >> good morning to you, as we are standing here in santa rosa. the flooding as you see behind me is coming in from northwest. of cour it seems it is about 3-feet. you definitely don't want to drive slush or any roads for that matter when you see standing water. you see that rain and wind. we have seen that just drive through the north bay all morning long as we got their to santa rosa. we did speak to one driver who had some issues the last time around. he's not looking forward to this rain again. here is what he had to say. >> well, it can only last one vehicle. the van got flooded out. they take it down low.

question the bay area is suffering a bit of a housing crisis right now and a lot of big tech companies got a lot of fingers pointed at them for not contributing to the housing stock. google wants to be apart of the solution and not part of the problem. they plan on building more housing. take a look at the map here, the areas in yellow are the proposed shorter. joaquin proposed of 6600 new homes. 20% are available. 2000s will be homes for sale. 1993 alwa we always want to see the area transformed and creating great public places that prioritize people over cars. transit and friendly neighborhood. google in the city of mountain view had been working on this plane for years.

tomorrow. >> president trump announced there was no longer a nuclear threat from north yee chris christ back in washington, michael cohen, will testify under oath before congress. cohen himself is facing prison time after admitting declines like tax frauds and making false statements. he'll testify behind closed doors today and public tomorrow. he knew and participated in pay offs to women in order to hide affairs from the public before the election which would be a violation of election law. cohen will talk about trump's finances and taxes. he'll talk about the moscow deal. the one that the president said

and off. we just got light drizzles right now. keep in mind the roads are wet, the roads are dangerous, this is a video that we shot during the 4:00 hours heading northbound 880 through west oakland. two balances on the scene and we don't believe that employees are serious. we do believe this was weather related. there is some good advise from the one we spoke with earlier this morning. he works at a gas station in petaluma. >> be safe, and drive right. working here at nighttime, i see people driving as if it was dry. it drives me crazy. everybody drive right. >> roads are not safe right now. >> reporter: chp will tell you to slow down. watch this is between your car

and the car from front of you. the posted speed limit is the fastest speed you can go. even though it is 65 miles per hour on the freeway here in the bay area, he was going 50. reporting live, bob eredell. >> this time of the year, we have to watch out potholes and all the other hazards that you have on top of rain and slick conditions. some of us are taking a break. it is good timing for the morning commute. here is a look at our storm ranger, red scan is our multi doppler radar. some of us are seeing the rain getting lighter and lighter. we know that with our rain during the winter time. it does a lot of time comes in waves but not all the time.

we are seeing a boiit of a brea for parts of the north bay. you start to see it is lifting to the north. the north bay will be the focus of where that heavy rain will be. taking a live look outside in dublin where the roads are dry. we have not seen a lot of rain here. it is pouring in san rafael. we can see the micro climate with this atmosphere river in full effect this morning. heading out the door in san jose, a couple of sprinkles but overall mostly cloudy and breezy and temperature s in the upper 50s. we can be in the upper 50s with some more of that rain moving in. let's go hour by hour where we noticed the yellows and the reds are mostly in the north bay, not a whole lot going on. south of the golden gate bridge. then we go to 10:00 or 11:00. it starts to work its way back to the south. as we see oakland and san francisco, seeing some rain again. hayward may see some of the

showers but not much rain in part os f ts of the tri-valley. 8:30 to 9:00, rain starts to pour in the south bay and the tri-valley and some of the areas we have not seen mch in tuch in rain. notice by tomorrow morning, we are waking up to mostly dry conditions but still some scattered showers and some thunderstorms as we get the last little bit of this energy pushing through before this comes to an end on thursday morning. rainfall totals for areas in parts o f the peninsula, east bay to the south bay, about an inch, going to the north bay, it will be much more. that's where we are focused and there will be some flooding with the potential of some flooding for napa river. for the russian river and guerneville, this could be above

santa rosa, not far from west creek. it is just south of the russian river. there is a flood warning in effect for parts of santa rosa. that area is set to get several inches of rain over the next few days. >> when storm hit the bay area, we keep an eye on the usual trouble spot. one of them at marin county, fairfax creek. the rushing water had been rising quickly. another problem, businesses started sandbagging parts of the area. the creek is already pretty high and of course moving quickly. we are keeping a close watch in sausalito where the rain is coming down heavy all morning. the town is on high alerts of what happened there nearly two weeks ago. you saw it live on valentine's day a landslide destroyed a home and led to red tagging several
