los and delong street here in daly city. the fire again is out and one person, at least one person taken to the hospital. reporting live here in daly city, ready ready, "today in the bay." >> thanks for the latest, live from the scene there, bob. 6:03. more breaking news on this tuesday morning, also on the peninsula, not too far from daly city, a big emergency response under way right now at rockaway beach in pacifica. we just got off the phone with the coast guard, and we're told there is a search happening along the coast after reports of a 28-year-old man went missing. he was last seen near the water near the lighthouse hotel. the coast guard has helicopters in the searching for this man, and we've got a crew headed to pacifica as well. we're going to bring you live pictures as soon as we get them. now to capitol hill, california democrat and speaker of the house nancy pelosi is calling for the full mueller report to be released to congress and the public. there. these are the two storms, and this one is the next one that will be moving in, as we go into tomorrow, and it will take several hours before it moves out. we're looking at that to last about 24 hours. as we go hour-by-hour today, we'll see our skies clearing for a little while, but look at 8:00 tonight. already some rain starting to shp ase lk sth bay, and the tri-valley, and then off and on waves of rain throughout the day tomorrow. there may also be enough energy to produce a few thunderstorms as this system moves through, and then even into thursday, we're still seeing some rain moving in before this all clears out late thursday night. total up to be about an inch and a half in parts of the north bay, around santa rosa, but most of the east bay, about a half to three-quarters of an inch of rain. the south bay may get another quarter inch of rain, and san francisco about a half inch of rain. after that, pretty good soaking, we will get some sunshine. the weekend is looking really

nice, starting out at 65 on friday inland, up to 71 degrees on sunday. and mike, you may still find some damp roads out there. >> kari, let's show the folks our view from our richmond-san rafael camera. it filled in with cars, darn it, for the commuters as well. damp roadway and a little bit of puddling. the sun hasn't dried this because it's not up yet. you beat the sun. you beat the sun here as well. typical slowing across the richmond-san rafael bridge. we'll get back to the area in a second. i wanted to show you the south bay along the peninsula. it's a smooth drive right now. even the tri-valley moves nicely. we had this earlier crash at whipple dyer, southbound in toward union city and that did slow more in through hayward and the deal there is that as folks found slowing and heard about a crash past the san mateo bridge, more moved over to west 92 if they're headed to the peninsula, early that keeps the dumbarton bridge lighter. san mateo bridge builds a little more across that flat section. no major issues over there. south 680 at treat we have the

middle east .. after a new israeli air strike in gaza city. israeli missiles targeted a 6:24. tensions escalating in the new building there that the military says served as a secret headquarters for hamas. this follows a long range missile strike from injuring several people. there are reports of a half dozen injuries in gaza. colorado is seeing a steep rise in marijuana-related emergency room visits after the state legalized the drug. researchers looked at health records for 10,000 er patients at one hospital and found the number of marijuana-related visits tripled between 2012 when t the drug became legal in 2016. more than 10% of the visits involved edibles. doctors say too much of the items.

good morning to you and thanks so much for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. we talk about weather all the time so let's head over to meteorologist kari hall, she has all we need to know and he in the weather department. we've been tracking storm after storm and right now we're kind of in between storms. walnut crr temperatures will be in the low 50s, mostly cloudy skies throughout the day, every now and then the sun w we're going to see the highs again in the low 60s, as we get a look at the radar, we see that we are getting a clean sweep from storm ranger, that's the red scan showing no rain now but the next storm system it's on the way, so i'll talk about what to expect, as that arrives, coming up in six minutes and mike, you have a look at that morning commute and now you have a traffic alert. >> same crash but now declared a traffic alert by chp. that means they know it's going to have a significant impact. 'veeen following this for the last half hour here. west 80 approaching mcbride, that crash still blocks your

fast lane. no major injuries but because of that crash at the critical point in the upper east shore as folks offhe carquinez bridge that has the slower drive. 45 minutes highway 4 to the berkeley kumcurve. the slowing before san pablo, cleared by richmond. slower drive south 880 towar e, shoulder. you have a distraction and some folks see the backup in getting across the san mateo bridge making 92 a little slower in that westbound direction, maybe heavier traffic than you might expect. that brings benefit toward the dumbarton bridge and the south bay, just starts to build. back to you. >> thanks, mike. two breaking stories on the peninsula. first to a water rescue, this is under way off of the coast of pacifica. >> that's right we move "today in the bay's" bob redell from one breaking news story to another, now live at rockaway beach. what are you seeing out there, bob? >> reporter: marcus and law camera, for the past 45 minutes, 60 minutes or, so the coast guard has been out off the shoreline. you could see the light there

that's on the horizon, that's a motorboat, got its search lights out looking for this man, he's in his late 20s who is out there in the water, they believe, and if you look to the right of that, you can see another light above the horizon, a helicopter, both with the coast guard and it's possible there's a third aircraft that's higher above that searching. these two right here have the spotlight on the ocean, and they are looking for this man. i spoke with pacifica police. around 4:20 this morning, there were four friends out here, two of them went into the water, only one came back. the one whon'tid come back is in his late 20s. these four men friends are staying at the lighthouse hotel, which is right here along the shoreline. it's not clear what they were doing out in the water during the 4:00 hour. you can hear the surf in the background. the waves are pretty strong out here, strong current and of course it was dark, completely dark at the time as opposed to now we're seeing the sun rise. one man missing in the water, has been out there for quite some time. do not believe he has a wet suit

on and again, you can see the coast guard, they have one chopper at least possible another aircraft and a boat out there searching for this person. reporting live here in pacifica, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> hope they find him there, bob. thank you. we have breaking news to tell you about a on the peninsula, firefighters are still at the scene of a house fire that involved at least one rescue. crews arrived only a short time after that fire started, about 90 minutes ago, that fire is now contained. it happened right across the street from the daly city b.a.r.t. station on los olivos and a block north of john daly boulevard. one person was taken from the home on a stretcher and police set up yellow tape around the area. there's no update on the victims, letmight be affected br how it started. >> 6:33. two separate b.a.r.t. police

investigations just an hour apart. last night at 11:00, we reported about an incident on the peninsula. "today in the bay's" pete suratos live for us in orinda and pete, it's just another reason for riders to pay close attention to their surroundings. pete? >> reporter: yes, that's right, laura. there's always a level of concern, when you hear about incidents like this, mentioned, that incident here at orinda b.a.r.t. taking place at 11:00 p.m., just an hour after another incident in san francisco. i was going to show our viewers a map, showing the distance between these two stations. now according to b.a.r.t., police are saying the orinda station incident was a robbery that took place at about 11:07 p.m. the male suspect in this tried to get away on a san francisco-bound train but was eventually arrested at the macarthur station after the female victim and another witness identified him. over in san francisco, another woman is attacked, this time on a train heading toward sfo. that one happened just before 10:00 p.m. between daly city and kolma. police say a man hit a woman

with an object and walked away. the motive is unknown but we know he was arrested at the station and that woman appears to be okay. now here is what riders in orinda tell me about what they think about these latest incidents. >> it makes me more aware of my surroundings, but other than that, i'm fine in the mornings. i wouldn't do it so much at night, though. >> it raises concerns, but generally, i would say this is a pretty safe station. from what i know. i've been using it for years. >> i don't mind it. it don't bother me really. >> reporter: looking at b.a.r.t.'s latest quarterly report for fiscal year 2019, they average about ten crimes against persons or crime incidents per week, and b.a.r.t. says that didn't meet their goals and they say this increase may have been caused by an increase in cell phone robberies in san francisco. we're live here at the orinda b.a.r.t. station, pete suratos

for "today in the bay." >> always be alert. thanks so much, pete. 6:35 for you right now. happening today, a major gun restriction goes into effect, we're talking about bump stocks, and they will be banned across the nation. the justice department with the support of president trump issuing a rule banning the devices. the rule applies to individual owners, dealers, and manufacturers. that ban was prompted by the 2017 las vegas massacre. the gunman used the bump stock to kill 58 people, this is during a country music festival. and this morning, the search is on for a shooter who opened fire inside of building s into the lobby of citi center building and shot a conservation corps worker in the back of the head. police swarmed the building. they say the victim is an 18 years old from san francisco. >> it's very emotional. it's just like, it was his

birthday, and his first day at work, too, so it's, i don't know why somebody would do that at somebody's workplace. >> turns out somebody that i knew and it was kind of sad, it was his first day on the job. damn, why did it have to happen to him? >> wow. so he was taken to san francisco hospital with life-threatening injuries. conservation corps workers have been told not to report back to work until thursday. >> 6:36 right now. did you happen to feel it? a small 2.9 magnitude earthquake rattled parts of the south bay last night. according to the usgs, it struck in the hills of diablo range southwest of san jose near morgan hill just before 11:00 at night, nearly three miles deep. no reports of injuries or damage. happening today, soccer fans advised to plan ahead for involving mexico and paraguay. 40,000 plans are expected. they are warn being ongoing pothole repairs near the stadium

alert, west 80 at mcbride. chp called the traffic alert but only one lane is blocked. just a critical part of that upper east shore so slow there. >> it's busy. all righ hopefully not slow >> looks like a beautiful temperatures, sunshine and we need it after the rain comes through. tonight and tomorrow and into thursday, but by friday, the sunshine is back and our temperatures reach into the mid-60s. look at the weekend forecast for san francisco, upper 60s for saturday, as well as sunday. if you're heading out of town, maybe going to kirkwood in the sierra, we have some good travel conditions starting friday, and our temperatures reaching the upper 30s. you'll also be able to see a fresh coating of snow on the ground. our highs reach 40 degrees there and mid-40s by the end of the weekend. napa valley will be a great place to be this weekend, with highs in the low 70s and sunshine. you'll want to take that in and spend some more time outside, and if your weekend plans include going hiking, muir woods

not eligible because his military records were destroyed in a kentucky army base fire back in the 1970s, would you believe. his coffee crew is mobilizing to get him there for the 75th commemoration in june, and mr. larson just cannot believe it. >> we're like we're going to get a go fund me. he didn't know what it was and he joked around later, got choked up, he said i cannot believe that people don't even know me are donating to me and he goes i thought i'd be sitting out there, he said like a little -- >> like a little man with a tin cup. >> tin cup. >> i love 'em. that, like you guys are all my family. i'm so proud of everyone. >> mr. haarson is the recipient of the army's bronze star and france's legion of honor, which is france's most prestigious

award. all after lying about his age at the age of 15, so that he and his cousin could join the national guard. that's probably the only bad thing he did in his life. it is a miracle he is alive to make this trip. i tweeted out a link and also tweeted a little information about that army base fire, in the 1970s, just wiped out records for so many people. >> you think it would have nothing, he could go still. >> i think they might have been able to forensically put together the records for it, but you know, it turns out his friends came to his rescue. >> has he ever been back to the normandy since that time? >> not that i know, no, and he really wanted to go but said oh well, i can't go. his friends were like no way! >> he seems to be in good health, too. >> he's in excellent, he has no aches or pains. one of the reasons he says he's lucky. he was like spry, and can hear. >> next story is to find out how that happened. >> i want to go with him to normandy. >> maybe it's all the bagels.

i'll put it on the screen. it sounds like food. asperitas. the wind is turbulent and the up and down motion gives the clouds this wavy appearance. really interesting to see and thank you for that picture. always appreciate your weather pictures when you send them in. now as you get out the door in pleasant hill, headed maybe out to the b.a.r.t. station it's in the low 50s. we will see another day with those temperatures reaching back into the 60s, so staying nice and mild. the seven-day forecast is already up at the bottom of the screen as we check out our highs for today that will be back up to about 63 in livermore. the rain has moved out, and we are g t little bit of systems, but another one right on its heel continues to develop out in the pacific, and we'll see that area of low pressure starting to work its way into the bay area, going on tonight throughout the day tomorrow. we will keep slight rain chances in the forecast today.

in the 8:00 to 9:00 hour, starting to see the rain moving into the south bay, and the rain will be off and on, even a slight chance of a few thunderstorms for tomorrow, with some gusty winds, as that area of low pressure kind of works its way across the region, into the day on thursday. we're still looking at some scattered rain, but it does move out by thursday night. during this time, we're looking at the potential of getting about an inch and a half of rain in parts of the north bay. san francisco about a half inch of rain, and for the south bay, about a quarter inch, but there will be some spots that could get a little bit more. the rest of t and make some plans to get outside. we're talking highs in t 70s, and for san francisco, just this nice and comfortable with sunshine into the start of next week. mike, you're still tracking a traffic alert. >> it is the one traffic alert we've had this morning, kari, westbound 80, right here on the upper east shore freeway. we're looking at mcbride or san pablo dam road, and we have one lane blocked, the critical point keeps it as a traffic alert. we see traffic holding steady
