north is starting to bring light showers, very light, to far northern california. ukiah, redding area. these showers are going to likely carry a little bit southward in through the afternoon. that is going to bring a better chance of showers through portions of the bay area. however, look at the temperatures right now. it is humid and muggy. it's definitely going to feel that way. another detail of that coming up in just a bit. over to mike. >> it is feeling light as far as the volume of traffic. over here in the south bay, we'll talk about northbound 101, lawrence expressway. there is a crash blocking part of your fast lane. that is the issue for folks traveling through the south bay. tow trucks arrive on scene. so far no slowing shows up as you go through the expressway.

here in the bay area and across welcome back. at 4:34, breaking news. big problems with major airlines here and across the country. southwest and delta say they are dealing with system-wide outages. have you been able to find out what type of problem there is with the system? >> well, first of all, it appears this problem has been

resolved. there was an outage with the vendor that provides flight data for southwest. you can see the gate area, ticket counter at oakland international. it's also southwest and united. they have resolved the issue with this issue. we presume it is the same as with other airlines. we are seeing a lot of on times. this is for your departures. and similar for family coming in today. whatever this was, this vendor that had the issues that provide them computer software guidance for flight planning, it was down. there were delays. this was affecting more of the east coast because they are up earlier than us. but that issue has been resolved. we're not seeing much impact here. definitely not at oakland international and presumably throughout the other airports. reporting live in oakland, bob redell, today in the bay. >> thank you very much, be bob. in the meantime, we want to show you a map that you can see here that looks at flights across the country.

this first is in atlanta. it's delta's hub. we kind of zoom in there, you see what flights are in the air right now. but of course they are experiencing delays. and chicago's map, this is united's hub. and you go a little bit further there so you can see what's in the air right now and what's going on. we will continue to monitor this and see other effects at airports across the country. a priest is in jail accused of sexually abusing a child. he is the 46th in the diocese credibly accused. >> as today in the bay thom jensen reports, his parishioners learn about that arrest during sunday's mass. >> reporter: a deacon delivered the message at all five masses this weekend at corpus christi catholic church.

the priest has been arrested accused of sexually abusing a child at another church at least 30 times. >> these people have to start -- >> reporter: the latest allegations once again prove his diocese and the vatican have not done enough. >> it's gone on too long. it is going to continue unless stuff changes. like any institution, you want to hurt an institution, hit them in the pocketbook. >>reporter: he has only been in corpus christi a couple of years. he was transferred in 2016 from st. john. baptist in san lorenzo. that's where police say the priest sexually abused a child dozens of times for about a year and a half. a former priest, who now works for survivor network of those abused by priests, or s.n.a.p. >> i saw the anguish in the faces of parishioners as they

left church this morning. just totally devastated. how do we talk to our children. >> reporter: tom stier says he doesn't believe they have been honest with families and they won't full willy heal until they know the truth about every abuser. >> they can't trust the bishop because he says it's all in the past. since 18987, there's been no credible accusations. we now know of three. 4:38. a local man accused of trying to have sex with children. he is not under arrest here. he is in a colombian jail. police confronted thomas reno at the airport over the weekend. investigators say this was his seventh trip to colombia the last two years. he was there to pay young girls to have sex. the victims are between 13 and 17 years old. he used three facebook profiles to contact girls, sharing

inappropriate photos and offering them up to $100. he is from fairfax in marin county. this week marks a grim anniversary at youtube. a woman walked in san bruno headquarthea headquarters and opened fire. she apparently had a long-running grudge against the company. she told police she might be headed to youtube. the three victims in the shooting survived. >> and across the bay area, a new idea to stop gun violence. santa clara county supervisor dave cortese says the county will allow a 24/7 gun surrender program. he made the announcement over the weekend. cortese says people who own guns often don't know how to get rid of them properly. . this week there will be a public celebration of life to honor the pittsburg principal

shot and killed earlier this month. his wife shot him during a domestic fight in their home. he was a principal of pittsburg all the education center. it will take place friday night at pittsburg high school. >> sausalito is still recovering from the powerful mudslide last month. but today the city plans to reopen a section of sausalito boulevard. it's been closed since february 14th. crews expect to see all barriers gone by tonight. you may call our breaking news coverage of the mudslide destroyed a home, trapping a woman inside. her rescue played out live on our newscast stkpwhraofp. 4:40. a check of the markets before the bell. >> good morning. wall street set to open higher on this first trading day of the month and start of the second quarter. investors are reacting out of positive economic news out of china.

the dow had its best quarter since 2013, nasdaq since 2012, s&p since 1998. reports on manufacturing and construction spending. we also have a consumer alert this morning. the company that owns planet hollywood, buca di beppo said 2 million credit card numbers were solen in a data breach from restaurants in 40 states from may of last year and march of this year. the company launched a website for companies to check whether a location they visited was impacted. april is financial literacy month. new data out from cnbc and investment acorns. americans are more confident in their ability to save for retirement today than they were just three years ago despite u.s. households running up debt and not having enough cash on

and saw people surfing. >> wind surfing? >> yeah. >> coming off a great one. i kind of took a peek at the forecast. the rain is coming back. even though we're tracking incoming rain today, at least it won't be widespread pouring rain. a little bit of showers. it will be a little muggy out there. in fact, look at the current temperatures right now. in the 50s. it's not very cold. 50s will make it feel tropical outside, which means it will be humid. doppler radar, this is what i'm talking about. we have been monitoring the system. if you notice, it's kind of a little bit disorganized. it is far off into northern california. by far i mean reading, ukiah area. as far as the timeline when this is expected to spread further south, it will be throughout the afternoon. aside from that, expect showers on and off. look at our temperatures.

this isn't a cold system, per se. this is just going to keep our temperatures at bay, in the 60s. yeah, a little bit cooler compared to the mid to upper 70s we enjoyed this weekend. 66 for oakland. 67 for napa. 63 for half moon bay. very muggy. let's talk about the hour-by-hour outlook. periods of rain. very on and off. very light. at 7:00, we begin to see a couple of cells move south of the golden gate bridge. again, very light. the showers will continue, if i pull this all the way through into tuesday, into tuesday with a stronger storm expected for next friday. as far as rain totals go right now, look at that. less than a tenth of an inch through tomorrow. if we look ahead thursday to friday, we are expecting to see light to moderate rain. breezy with rain that could be a

little bit higher, especially the coastal mountains. that will carry into saturday. showers will be possible for sunday's forecast as well. here's a look at the next seven days. all right. light rain on and off for today and tomorrow. some areas may not get any rain. weapons, we get a chance to take a break, dry out. thursday into friday, a better chance of seeing widespread rain with higher rain totals. so for now, even though we are expecting light showers, it will not be a complete washout. >> good for monday, monday's image. we have a lot of backup at the bay bridge. it was much worse five minutes ago. things have started to smooth out. a backup in the lanes. we will see traffic smoothing smoothly at the bridge itself.

it will probably not completely clear at all because it's monday. just after 5:00, we will see the commute start to build there. the only problem we really have is north 101. it stands out because of the marker. not because of any slowing. at least once the tow truck will arrive and move two cars for the time being. 580 toward the dublin interchange. visibility is great up the dublin grade. slowing out of tracy. a disabled vehicle on grant line road. back to you. >> thanks, mike. 4:49 for you right now. new for you this morning, a fire sweeps lieu a homeless camp in los gatos. this shows the flames. i want you to listen closely. you can actually even hear the fire popping.

did you hear it? it happened 12:30 on highway 17 at the main street overcross. one lane was shut down while crews worked to put it out. the cause of the fire is under investigation. as you can see, it destroyed tents and several other items. >> it is 4:50. we are learning another race horse died at the santa anita racetrack. it marks the 23rd horse death since december. he injured his right front leg and fell in a race on the turf yesterday. santa anita just reopened racing this weekend after being closed for nearly a month. the track is putting new restrictions in place. there are new rules on certain medications that can be given to animals. and a ban on whips. . two names in the college admissions scandal are due in court this week. felicity huffman and lori

loughlin. they are looking to expand the case which features on a newport beach college admissions company that had more than 700 clients. huffman is accused of disguising a $15,000 payment to doctor her daughter's s.a.t. results. laughlin paid $500,000 to have her daughters designated as recruits to the crew team. new questions this morning about how compliant california hospitals can be with looming new earthquake safety standards. hospitals must be earthquake safety by 2030. 418 hospitals have been able to meet the new seismic safety standards. many are too financially strapped. spring is in the air, a sure sign of the season making its presence known at our nation's capitol.
