as the tri-valley. we'll get a closer look at those temperatures coming up, mike, will you take us back to highway 24. >> that's right, we did get off the phone with our friend at chp confirming they are looking at a live camera. >> that camera clear. we have a slower drive on the approach. the right two lanes are blocked. slowing from broadway to highway 13 over to just past telegraph. >> that keeps it moving smoothly and the bay bridge lighter. back to you in thank you very much, mike. 5:01. now to the big story the entire world is watching. we are hours away from the release of robert mueller's report on russian interference and whether president trump speaks out on capitol hill and why nancy pelosi and chuck schumer are already calling for mueller to publicly testify. so what's the buzz there?

tracie potts is live. >> reporter: well, brand-new in the last few minutes, we just got some information about what the attorney general will say before releasing this today. he will address executive privilege and things the white house doesn't have to say or their staff members don't have to talk about. he will talk about their interactions in the last several weeks, in recent weeks. there is a "new york times" report today the white house was briefed about these findings and conclusions before the report is being made public. finally, he is also expected to talk about the redaction process, some of which he's already done. >> so after the release of the report, what's the time line that we should kind of expect for today's events? >> reporter: sure, so, once the report comes out, it will be dlifrtd via cd interesting will i to capitol hill. so lawmakers, to their staff members, then it will be time

for them to read through the pages. so it will take a while to go through. within an hour, a few hours, certainly, we'll start to get some headlines, what people are looking for here are the interesting details of why robert mueller and his team could not come one a decision on whether the president obstructed justice. we will likely hear from some of those witnesses that they talked to. >> tracie, you mentioned the white house has been briefed prior. talk about attorney general william barr, if he's had additional contact before the release of this report. >> reporter: what we know this week is they have been preparing a rebuttal, their own response, there was some contacts with the justice department about this report. does that mean they were briefed on what to expect before the report went public and is that appropriate? that's the question here. that's what william barr is expected to talk about. one of the this i think so that

he is expected to talk about and be asked about when he comes before the public here in about an hour-and-a-half before the report is released to congress and before the report is released to the public. >> we will certainly continue to follow. thanks so much. again, barr's news conference starts at 6:30 our time, that's when "today in the bay" will bring you an nbc news special report. nbc expects to continue its coverage until well after that report is released. new this morning, authorities in the east bay need your help finding thieves who broke into a jewelry store. pen robbed early monday morning. you can see the owners have since repaired the damage. as you see in these images, the suspects were driving a white newer honda civic sedan with after market rims and tinted windows. one of the men were wearing a masks and the other three hoodies. it appears one of the robbers threw something at the store to break through the front window. they entered and stole a number of items. the schiffs office isn't sure how much was stole on or the value. this happened after monday morning. the four men were gone. the sheriff believes they fled west and on stone valley road towards i-680. about 24 hours ago, this is san francisco in the city. another smash n great britain robbery. this one at st. lauren, a high end fashion store near union

square, police say the suspect broke the front window, by backing their vehicle into the store front. stole a number of items and drove off. in both instances, law enforcement is still looking for the suspects. there is no indication, by the way, what happened here monday is related to what happened in san francisco yesterday. reporting live here in dan victim, bob rid dedell "today i the bay." >> thanks so much, bob. 5:06. all jet airways flights are still grounded around the world this morning. nearly 24 hours ago, executives for the indian carrier posted a statement saying the airline is ju suspending operations because they do not have enough money to pay the bills. jet waairways has some 20,000 workers world wide. and boeing this week is conducting more testing for it's 737 max 8 jets.

this is exclusive video over seattle last night. boeing's ceo says they are making steady progress towards faa certification. he says they have been updated and the mcas software many of those planes there, well that's being worked on as well. the faa says it will require pilots to undergo additional training. 737 max jets have been grounded world wide following two deadly crashes. this morning, we are learning new details about the deadly campfire. our investigative unit is finding out state and local prosecutors are seizing parts of several transmission towers for testing. it's a part of the ongoing criminal investigation. they have a 16 pimile stretch oa

pnl pj line th pg & e fire. investigators if paris are making headway, determining what caused the fire at notre dame cathedral. crews remain on scene as prosecutors are investigating and interviewing construction workers and the security staff. also they are trying to determine if the first alarm sensor, which sent staffers to an area where there was no fire was up to date and working properly. it took 23 minutes before that fire department was called to the scene. that's when the second alarm went off. some bay area theater lovers still finding out about a beach blanket bummer. after 45 years, beach blanket babylon ending its run. the producers announcing the final show will take place on new year's eve. tickets for that show not yet on sale. we're still fought sure when or if they'll be available to the public. if you haven't seen this 21 of a

military scholarship. this became after the military began implementing the new transgender policy last week. it may affect whether he can finish his college degree. he is at the university of texas at austin. the 19-year-old says he's fought giving up hope on his dream aattending the university and serving in the army. he is starting his own online fundraiser. this morning, a powerful agency is suing to prevent waltz, the imperial allegation district alleges l.a.'s water district violated an environmental law in pledging to contribute to california's share of water over the drought contingency plan. the manager issued a response saying water agencies in several western states rely on the river. they all need to work together. 5:26, coming up next on can

breaking news on capitol hill. this is a live look, in fact, at the department of justice in washington. and less than one hour, attorney general william barr is expected to hold a news conference, 90 minutes after that, americans should get their first look at what is expected to be a half-ly redacted report on russian interference and whether president trump obstructed justice, nancy pelosi and chuck schumer are calling for robert museum tore publicly testify about that report. president trump is already reacting on twitter, writing, quote, presidential harassment. we have learned mr. trump and department of justice officials discussed the report before the release. again, attorney general's barr's news conference will start at 6:30 our time. we will bring you that special nbc news report. nbc will continue until well

ride. the city would run the service with app company via, which currently runs similar services if west sacramento and los angeles. it has been a big earth quake in taiwan. here is a camera capturing the moment it struck on the eastern side of taiwan today. the lights there is in a newsroom. the city where it was centered. the quake did cause damage some 70 miles away. there are reports of broken water pipes, cracked buildings, landslides, no deaths reported. two hikers were injured. police in pittsburgh are looking for this woman. she is considered armed and dangerous. she is tied to a shooting not far from the dmv. anyone who knows or sees where she could be is asked to call the department.

parties. all of those things. well, it was redacted on my screen. not directly related to the investigation. that's fair enough. we know a few members of congress will get full access in an attempt to show these redactions are not critical. 56 say barr published highs own report early before anybody got to see it. worse, mueller made a decision and the press conference before the report comes out will be one of the most important moments of barr's career, if he talks about what he has or has not told the white house but will etc. the report speak for itself he may be able to appease some of his critics who says he's gotten involved. if he gives us a political opinion of a report that's supposed to be independent before we have seen it, he will have interfered with the pros
