thank you. right now, it's happening now, russian president vladimir putin is meeting north korean leader kim jong-un for a summit if eastern russia. this is new video of the two leaders meeting, shaking hands, the kremlin says kim's nuclear weapons program will be on the agenda at the summit. at the summit, he is likely to seek support from putin while north korea talks with washington are in limbo. in the future, cameras could be tracking your every move when you park at your local bart station. early this morning, bart will vote on a plan to install license plate readers in station parking lots. we sent pete suratos to orinda this morning. pete, it's raising a lot of privacy concerns? >> reporter: yes, good morning, concerns for bart riders. it will be up to the bart board of directors to move forward. a big vote happening later this morning. this isn't the first time a program was proposed. you remember in 2016, they voted

against a pilot version after critics raised concerns over widespread under surveillance. the purpose, according to bart were do bolster security at parking lots system wide. however, in 2017, records reveal bart accidentally activated two cameras at the macarthur station set to be a part of that pilot program. >> that collected tens of thousands shared with the northern california regional intelligence center. >> that center shares data with customs enforcement. so, of course, that made this a big concern for immigrant advocates. today the program will be reintroduced to the board. once again, they're saying it's for the purposes of bolstering security. this time, they secure data information for 30 days unless it's a part of an ongoing criminal investigation, they are not say who can gets it like

""today in the bay"" chris sanchez is live with how people are taking this. kris. >> reporter: hi there, marcus. at 9:30 we expect to get a update on the number of measles cases overall in the state. this is 21 day, though, after lawmakers tried to make it a little harder for parents to skip vaccines for their children if they are headed into public schools. you might imagine, that was not without protest. there were hundreds that showed up in sacramento to urge

lawmakers to let them decide where it comes to vaccines and risk of measles. senate health voted 6-2 to give them the power to sign off on exemptions for children headed to public schools. lawmakers say that is necessary, because some doctors who are writing the exemption are doing it for pay, not with the child's best interests at heart. now, what we know about the measles outbreak in california today is that there are eight new cases in california this week alone, there are 37 cases, across the state, 680 cases nation i nationwide and this could cross the highest number of case we seen since the measles were eradicated so many years ago. we will cover that health conference at 9:30 this morning. we will let you know ma we hear. >> thanks for the latest there. 5:07. new this morning, palo alto police searching for a man that

robbed a 7-e11 at gunpoint. it happened at the 7-eleven on colorado avenue. they say the suspect walked in, pulled out a handgun and demanded cash. he got away with an undisclosed amount of money. officers are looking into whether the suspect is located to robberies in nearby cities. they put an end to a drug dealer's million dollar payday. walnut creek officers releasing this picture of stacks of cash and pounds of drugs they seized from an apartment in pittsburgh. this is back in january. all of that cash amounts to more than a million dollars. the suspect now faces several charges. in a few hours, a man set to fill the shoes of the late defender will officially be sworn into office. mayor london breed announced him last month. his predecessor died from a toxic effects of cocaine and

alcohol. raji started working as a public defender 18 years ago. he has been with the public defenders office for 11 years. developing now, parts of texas are cleaning up after a series of severe storms and likely tornados touching down in the eastern part of the state. the storm crushed cars, toppled buildi buildings. the national weather service is looking into if a tornado did touch down. meanwhile, parts of dallas are under water this morning. take a look at this, more than 7 inches of rain fell there within a matter of hours. thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected to spread from texas to lower mississippi valley today. >> wow, so at least those storms aren't headed west. >> yeah. so we are looking at those storms. >> that will continue to move off towards the east. this was a storm system that quickly rolled across the country. now producing more severe weather there in louisiana and in mississippi. so we'll continue to watch that with tornado warnings in effect in those areas. here we have very dry conditions

and some really hot conditions as we are now seeing some very strong ridge of high pressure setting up and a few of the clouds staying well to the west of us. as you make your way out the door this morning, another cool start in police saptd hill. we'll be at 66 degrees, holding steady until about 7:00. then the warm-up begins. we go to the mid-60s by 9:00. mid-70s by 11:00. we'll be back in the low 80s again today. we'll talk about when we catch a break with all these hot temperatures. mike, we are off to a good start as far as your compute. >> remember the start and the finish. and everything in between, that's the consensus for the commute. literally a crash cleared at 24 and eastbound at gateway. no problems for highway 24. we are looking towards the dublin interchange, coming in all the of the altamonte pass, the only slowing you see there. towards the bay bridge, a 17

that's the good news. no problem. we'll show you what is going on for a crash in san francisco. i'm get details. >> and a very happy thursday to you. companies open up their books to investors. amazon will do that. facebook did that and warning it may have to five federal government as much as $5 billion if fines. it is setting aside some money, facebook's mark zucker boring says it is rededicating itself to privacy he says all the time. tesla says investors had trouble getting new cars to their purchasers, particularly in europe and china, it did not make a profit this quarter, it lost $702 million. the company says sales are slowing for the more expensive modems s and x. the key factor we are watch secretary cash on hand. tesla started the quarter with roughly $3.7 billion in the bank and ended with 2.2 billion.

the cost of doing business and then this one, the really big loan payment it made, nearly a billion in march cost it a lot of money. now, $2 billion is a lot of money. keep in mind, tesla keeps announcing a lot of new products, a pick-up, a semi truck. a sports car, they all cost money to develop and make. the fear among investors is tesla will have to go back to the well so to speak to find more money, selling stock, diluting the current stock makes it well. musk in the past said he won't do it but i say he has to. take a look back to the early '70s. we got word from stanford that nils nilsson passed away at the age of 86. he chaired the science department in the early late --

air-conditioni air-conditionings, blasting. we're dealing with this in april. so you are kind of wondering what's ahead. take a look at the bottom of the screen. we will cool off. i know you are happy about that we have to get through a couple more days of really hot temperatures. so as you start out the door in martinez, we will be at 56 degrees. we will head into the 80s again today by 1:00, already at 80 degrees. as we head to the south bay, we see those high temperatures in cupertino, milpetas. 85 also in walnut correct. this is better than the 90s, where we were yesterday, hayward expect a high of 78 degrees, up to 75 in san mateo, san francisco and the marina district reaching 64. a nice little brisk wind coming in from the west. this is what is helping us to cool us off a few more degrees, today with ukiar coming in at 86 degrees, if you are getting ready to head out, this is your

reminder to grab the allergy medication. if you are allergic to oak, juniper and pollen, no rain in the forecast, i don't think that will change. we are dealing with the stagnant weather pattern. we have high pressure that cause disair to sing. as it sinks, it warms up, it gives us all clear skies, it appears any rain well away from the area. >> that will be slow to missouri as we go into the weekend, we see changes, more clouds on saturday, that will bring down our temperatures a few more degrees, there will be a storm system nearby that could bring rain to the area. it will help cool us off as well, we will put a slight chance of rain in the forecast. still looking at some mid-80s in the inland valleys, once again by sunday, that storm system so close by will bring us more clouds, we're hoping for at least a couple sprinkles out of

that. it doesn't look very likely. we are going to see those high temperatures into the low 70s, tuesday, wednesday is looking really nice, mike, the exit now moving westward. >> westward, ho, the richmond side of the san rafael bridge. that's where these folks are coming through. of course from the east bay, we're we're going to the north bay across 580. without a problem. overnight construction. they will hold off all lanes cleared until 7:00 a.m.. the bay bridge toll plaza sees a little fast track lanes. judging by the volume, yesterday, they didn't open, turned on the metering lights at about 5:25, which is notably later. five minutes later than usual. northbound 10101. -- 101. you see the skyline there. we have a smooth drive, despite the crash. we will track that, no lanes are blocked there. meanwhile, the rest of the bay,

city. . exploding manholes hurt at least four people. this is in new york city that one caught a camera reporter there at nbc in new york. all of those victims are expected to recover. elevated carbon monoxide levels were reported in that area, prompting some evacuations. the utility cut power to that area. there is no word so far on what is causing those explosions. 5:26. hang today, dozens of bay area

remorse. police do not believe this was an act of terrorism, rather this might be connected to the ptsd peoples suffered from his tour in iraq. a 13-year-old sunnysail girl suffered the most serious conditions, she is in serious conditions. two victims were treated and released at the fifteen scene. a 15-year-old and his cousin were hit. he tells us he had no time to get out of the way as the car plowed through this intersection. witnesses say at 60 miles an hour knocking two people off their bicycles, the remaining pedestrians, some were sent flying into the air. he accompanied one victim, who is especially bad off and had thoughts of dying. >> ask me, am i going to be okay? i told him, of course, you are going to be okay. don't move. if you move, you will make it worse. >> i'm so grateful that nobody was injured worse than they were like you know beaten to death or
