us a lot to talk about for the days to himco. thanks a lot, tracie. 6:04. in the future, cameras could track your every move when you park at a local bart station. later this morning, bart will vote on a plan to install license meters in the parking lot. pete, this is raising a lot of privacy concerns with people. >> reporter: yeah. for some, it is raising some concerns, marcus. that's why we have more ahead. bart will discuss it later this morning. we will get into details on that. this isn't the first time they brought this issue up. our viewers remember back in 2016, the board voted against this pilot program. after critics raised concerns about the wide scale under surveillance of this program. now the purpose, according to bart officials of this license plate readers program was to bolster security at parking lots system wide. however, if 2017, records reveal

that bart accidentally activated two cameras. at oakland's macarthur station a part of this pilot program. it gathered photos shared with the northern california regional intelligent center. they share data with the immigration and customs enforcep, which made this a big time concern for immigration advocates, so today the program will be reintroduced to the board for a vote, again for the purposes of bolstering security. this time the new policy will store plate information for 30 days unless it's a part of an ongoing criminal investigation and place limits where that data goes, including not sharing it with i.c.e. or enforcement or removal. here's what riders are saying about this proposed program. >> you start to cross the line between the parking pass program or what else they are using it for. i would be concerned about that. >> it seems like a good idea so

hands of doctors and put public health officials in charge. it all goes back to the surge in measles cases across the country and here in california. chris sanchez joins us with how people feel about this latest move. chris. >> reporter: well, hi there, laura. at 9:30 this morning, the california department of public health will update the number of cases here in california, talk about the outreach they have done to make sure parents vaccinate their kids, at the same time this is happening, just a day after parents showed up in sacramento in force to ask lawmakers to leave the decision about vaccinations in their hands and not in the hands of public health officials. >> that didn't go far, though. yesterday, the, one of the senate health committees voted 6-2 to give them the final say if signing off on vaccine exemptions for children headed to public schools. lawmakers say they had to do this, some doctors are writing exemptions for pay, not because

of a child's personal medical history. now as of today, there are 37 cases in california of the measles. there were eight new cases reported this week alone, this is in sacramento and also in l.a. nationwide, the cases are now at 680. we will cover that state department of public health news conference this morning to see if we are on an upswing or perhaps things are starting to settle down here in california in regard to measles. in the meantime, you can go to my twitter feed, we have maps of where these cases are reported. how to find out if your measles vaccines are up to date. a lot of us got vaccinated when we were children, that is a long time ago, how to know where to find your records? i posted a link to that as well. chris sanchez, "today in the bay." >> thank you. 6:09. a quick follow up, a contra costa county's man to normandy, making national headlines.

thursday. as we lead into the weekend, we're still going to have these amove normal temperatures. that's a look at walnut creek. our temperature trend that will be in the upper 50s as you head out the door. then going into the low 80s already by 1:00, the 7-day forecast is up at the bottom of the screen as we see some mid-80s in the forecast today, at least it's not going to be in the low 90s. we were talking record highs the past couple of days, we've moved past the peak of the heat. it's very warm, in the mid-80s in the south bay, also mid- to upper-80s for parts of the east bay, antioch reaching 87 degrees, oak thomas out at 75. we will be up to 75 today in san mateo, in san francisco, reaching the upper 60s and the north bay up to 86 skies, ukiah with napa reaching 85. so we're under some very quiet weather conditions, high pressure remains in control. >> that keeps us very warm, but

also clear, but that will start to shift off towards the east over the next couple of days and allow for some of those clouds to start to move in, even a slight chance of rain, so as we go through our hour by hour outlook, nothing going on today, a few clouds tomorrow, partly cloudy skies, we could see more clouds on saturday and especially on sunday. we will see a slight chance of rain in the sierras that stays away from the bay area. we look to stay dry, i'm keeping a chance of hope in the forecast for sunday night, slight rain chances here, look at how much it cools off going into next week. we get the shift in the winds, more of an ocean breeze, brigg our high temperatures back closer to normal with low 70s inland, low 60s for san francisco and the coast. now you are tracking it two spots for slowing. >> two, maybe three, that's how live it is, look how much green there is, this is great, a mild build for the san mateo bridge

in hayward, i'm not calling it a step slowing, as you approach oakland road, a little extra slowing, otherwise, all green for your south bay commute. a nice drive, the interchange nice as well, the bay bridge toll plaza, we'll talk about that in a second. this crash looks like it's active. they are moving things much better. a little slowing, 101 cesar chavez, crews reportedly blocking your left two lanes. second of two for that area. the cash lanes continue to show a much lighter build. so the fast track usually indicates folks, frequent computers are headed through the area, folks who drive intermittently are not there. same thing at the richard san rafael bridge. cash lanes over there, so your more seasoned commute is your daily weekly computers are there, lighter overall volume,

sunnyvale. police say he admitted to intentionally driving that car into people. he does not express remorse. they don't think this was an act of terrorism, rather this may be the ptsd he suffered from his tour of duty in iraq. a 13-year-old sunnyvale girl is currently in critical condition. four other victims were hospitalized in stable condition and two victims were treated released at the scene. this is 15-year-old miguel. he and his cousins were among those hit. he tells us this car plowed through the intersection, witnesses say at 60 miles per hour, knocking people off their bicycles. some were sent flying into the air. he comforted one victim especially bad off and had thoughts about dying. >> he asked me, am i go him to be okay? i told him, of course, are you

we are coming down in the low 90s, mid-80s in napa. mid-70s in oakland and san francisco, looking at a high of 66 degrees, this is a live look outside at san jose. as you get dressed. you do need layers. maybe these shorts are too short for the dropoff line. a tee-shirt and a jacket to start out the day. we will have high pressure still giving us some all clear weather across the bay area. but that high that's produced some high heat will start to move off to the east and will allow for more clouds and possibly a slight chance of rain by the end of the weekend so by saturday, we can start to see a mix of sun and clouds, sunday turning partly to mostly cluedy. then it looks like we will have that slight chance of rain, it's not looking very likely. we will, though, have a good cool down in the forecast as we get much more of an ocean breeze that shifted the winds, brings our high temperatures into the

low 70s, mostly sunny skies, san francisco mostly continuing on in the 60s. mike, you are discussing the lighting at the bay bridge. >> that's right, avengeers coming out tonight. look at this as a "captain marvel" kind of a theme. yah, ironmen. we held off the traffic, very light this is great. the fast track lanes are back. take the cash. get a break at the bay bridge. a smooth drive, upper east shore freeway, showing a little more traffic flow, over in san francisco, that's where we've had the only problem this morning. a series of three crashes kept these tied up. still slow. recovery, see how this red to yellow headed up to the 280 interchange, a standard build up to san francisco, where that slow drive towards the interchange. the rest of the bay shows a smooth drive and now building in san mateo, a typical pattern.
