bench for the defense. now werenski. chopped on back. but out to center. twisted across, dubinsky a shot, steered wide by mcavoy. connected back on to kuraly. steps ahead, he has nordstrom, plays it off the boards. kukan, bottle up by kuraly, stashed it on back, just arriving in time to keep it alive, carlo, shot wide from acciari. carlo a shot, wide. unable to see it well was bobrovsky but it was wide. jenner on the bounce, carefully blocked by rask. 3:40 has passed in first sudden death overtime period. lobbed ahead for marchand to finesse to bergeron, sent one into the glove of bobrovsky who will wait.

>> mike m.: two ways to go about this, get aggressive, go after it, or try to counter punch and wait for the other team to make a mistake and convert. seems to be the tactic these guys are taking. >> mike e.: coaches have discussed, in particular bruce cassidy, that we are playing mirror image teams. lots of physical players in the bottom six, highly skilled players in the top six. and all of them can go really well. bergeron chased out. marchand says something with his hand to his mouth to bergeron as he glides in. blue jackets take over, werenski able to connect ahead. dubois spirited back in, around it goes near krug.

>> mike e.: krejci and debrusk, with pastrnak. a shot down. gotten to pastrnak and shot back in. debrusk jabbed at it. back on defense along with grzelcyk, brought on by jenner, shrugged up high, into the mesh and out-of-play by tuukka rask. inned overtime, three shots on goal by columbus. none by the bruins. at what point do you start to notice the fatigue factor rather than adrenaline entering into how the teams perform in overtime? >> mike m.: bruins, it was full seven-game series. like game one, suggested bruins get after it, fortunate to get

that one, as time rolls on -- >> mike e.: marchand turns, slips one along and krug will chase it down. krug tried to center it, bergeron, and kneeling block by bobrovsky. first shot in the overtime by the bruins. now panarin turns, bergeron back to his feet to defend and winds up becoming offside. >> mike m.: pretty good chance for the bruins, torey krug goes in on forecheck, inadvertent pass to bergeron and bobrovsky is equal to the task. >> brian: tough play as goaltender, not expecting that puck to go to bergeron, off a skate, bobrovsky had to be awfully alert. terrific save considering the circumstances that it goes off a skate on his tape in prime scoring area. >> mike e.: jones connects

across. lobbed back in by werenski and along to take it, chara. slipped a pass ahead. eventually comes back to center, nordstrom tries to get by foligno but sandwiched off. gloved by kuraly and offside. i have talked to officials, linesmen and referees, about the nature of overtime. and they have said you want to make sure that the winning goal is a clean one, and you want to make sure any penalty call is an accurate one. of course all goals are reviewed regardless of how clear they seem to be, including the one scored by coyle the other night. mike mentioned that a lot thought it was offside, particularly columbus but reviewed and onside goal. kuraly bringing it ahead.

goals in final minute or in overtime are reviewed -- anderson but rask. off nordstrom. savard. had to be tapped by rask, no icing. now mcavoy. nearly six minutes gone in the first sudden death overtime period. around to savard, not picked clean by nordstrom, back up is bjorkstrand, handing across to wennberg, to foligno, shot steered wide. taken by kukan, couldn't get it through grzelcyk, sent back up, bjorkstrand able to shoot one but quickly tipped up and out-of-play. 13:45 to go. so much energy expended in small bursts, are shifts a lot shorter now? >> mike m.: they should be, they need to be. coaches certainly want them to

be. but mentioned the long shift here makes for interesting moments. >> brian: i like to think the stoppages help the bruins conserve energy, considering back-to-back ot games in seven-game series, may play into their favor as opposed to little bit of run and gun. >> mike e.: wennberg on the face-off but popped on the win by coyle. grzelcyk, able to step ahead. matt grzelcyk able to bring it on, lob one that bounces right near the net and what a crazy carom it took, lightning-like reflexes on the part of bobrovsky. >> mike m.: as former goalie, heart stopped watching this. puck lands on edge and just goes oh, man to the left. as goaltender want to set this puck up for your defensemen, but

it grzelcyk, but off dubinsky, then nash, then jenner. jenner turning, spinning one in front but carried back out by debrusk, able to gain the zone, fights his way, pokes to the corner, tangles with savard. brought ahead by kukan and able to flip one grabbed and put back into play by tuukka rask. torey krug able to play it back on and it's lobbed in by carlo and around behind bobrovsky, hurried to werenski, back around the boards, taken by marchand, fed back, through krejci, poked through to the corner. around to take it, marchand again, werenski comes up with it, marchand wanted it to bergeron, no luck. panarin up the wing to cam atkinson, atkinson backhands one off the mark, rolled back along

the boards, rolled back further by dubois. panarin, dubois, krug steps to that, punched from atkinson and carried out. heinen, shoved wide. bergeron moves in, heinen to the outside, pivoting is marchand, able to get behind, looking to front. finesses away from tired werenski, rattled high and wide, played by it. rebound, bergeron, can't get it by, amazing save, close quarters, by bobrovsky. the crowd is still buzzing. that end of the ice just now sitting down. jones on a cross. werenski ahead. knifed on second, backhand. down goes anderson.

puck underneath. they continue to play on and it's sent across to coyle. lobs it ahead, trying to get by johansson. coming by, checked off, duchene. johansson continues the battle, sprawling down is coyle. johansson takes down duchene and coyle there, but it's dropped back off for the carry back out and along with it is foligno, gets by one, checked off by the same one in mcavoy. puck turned over to anderson, slugged behind but chara steps to it there. skittering 3, savard to play it there. 10:45 to go in the first overtime period. jenner got it across. savard bringing it on, drive, deflected by mcavoy. chipped around behind, jenner able to settle it down again. boone jenner laid it back, savard a shot, cut off, jenner a shot down the glass. tipped along by dubinsky.

time. lofted back out by krug. and touched by high stick. 10:02 to go. right in the big spoked circle they will drop it between bergeron and dubois. probing continues with the dump-in by the blue jackets. marchand brings it ahead, bergeron with him. marchand delays, looks over the traffic. able to swearing away from jones but poked back ahead for the carry up by atkinson. strength against strength in the numbers out there right now. better players, bergeron able to scoop it to the glass, recover and play on to krejci, he lobbed it back down and goes for icing.

9:30 to go in the first sudden death overtime. to make this a good ice surface for both teams, they will do a very quick scrape. from a goaltender's perspective, brian, what is it like to play in energy-sapping conditions like this where you know that the next one can end the game for you as victor or somebody who is losing? and all that pressure, i can't imagine on individual players but goalies in particular. >> brian: typically goalies don't think that context. focus is singular, trying to stop the puck from the minute the game starts to the time it ends. doesn't matter if overtime, goaltender's focus does not waiver. typically guys won't get caught up in the moment, just focused

on making next save and giving their team a chance. both goaltenders have made that save in overtime. rask glove save, then the save moments ago by bobrovsky, both have been fantastic in overtime. >> mike e.: i remember first game i went to as a fan. i knew right away that the job i would not want was goaltender. but there are people who have just born and wired the right way to do it. we've seen two of them tonight. 58 total shots, two a side have gone in, 32 shots columbus, 26 boston. ice attended to, now we play on as long as we need to to get one that counts. to the point it comes. werenski to the outside.

behind. panarin and atkinson and foligno and jones. out there on this power play to work along with matt duchene. cleared back down and bruins will make a hasty change in penalty killing forwards. carlo and chara stay out. acciari and kuraly are the forwards, that is knifed down by carlo, led back to jones, handed back to atkinson. turned into traffic and popped back to jones. quick challenge from acciari but atkinson turning. atkinson's side of the net, back from duchene, laid back to jones. walks across. had gun loaded. atkinson a shot, through the screen but stopped by rask. hard work in the corner continues. 37 to go on the penalty kill to the bruins. still they spar for possession.

acciari, to just hang on to that puck in the corner. he was on his backhand, recognized he wasn't able to get it out from where he was, keeping it in corner where he is, killed almost 30 seconds. for the blue jackets, a chance to really put their mark on this series and not able to do it. >> mike e.: full strength action. krejci and dubois on the face-off. dubois out, anderson has a word with him, steps in. kukan and savard the defense. savard to the corner. bjorkstrand. mcavoy, deals up to debrusk. pass on to pastrnak. bjorkstrand turning it on.

right back ahead with it. dubois tried to get by, shielded off by mcavoy. hit hard with pastrnak, got it on for krug, good body position by dubois. worked back out in front but pinballed off debrusk, brushed off by krug, wafted on by krejci. savard looking for help. krug battling there. bjorkstrand able to poke it back out. mcavoy pushed it away from anderson, rushing ahead is kukan, now krejci. krejci on, just lofts one along, goes out-of-play from center ice. so no problem for the bruins. >> mike m.: has been chances in this overtime session. started with nick foligno, great save by tuukka rask, able to get that glove outstretched and rob foligno. this one on crazy bounce for bobrovsky, none better than this

fell down, able to throw to the outside and panarin dropped one in front that bruins are able to block and then control. marchand wanting to get through savard, no luck. kukan taking over, push one on the bounce back down and they're calling a halt to play. icing call on that. they are watching the blue jackets to make sure they don't change at the bench, though the face-off is not because of icing, rather offside pass.

rattled back in yet again. jones. debrusk dropped it on. pastrnak there. run into by jones. along to debrusk yet again, under four minutes to go in the first overtime period. pastrnak turning, dropping it back off. off the referee's skates it appeared. debrusk gets it back, grzelcyk a shot, then pushed off by dubinsky. then around it comes for riley nash, that went off a stick back out. dubinsky could not control. clifton could and put it to debrusk, shaken up on the play, dropped stick, looks like he's going to head to the bench. acciari and nordstrom and kuraly for the bruins. atkinson sent it back in.

grzelcyk able to play it there. right back ahead, kuraly spinning it around. acciari goes to play it there. for nordstrom but having vacated the position was krug, back up comes panarin, moving in, over to clendening, a shot turned aside by rask. acciari able to move back out, 2:50 to go, shoots one wide, can be played on by nordstrom, didn't get through, atkinson comes up with it but hands it over. kuraly, one hands it back in, hoping for acciari, flexed by harrington and lobbed back out. mcavoy holding on here, starting to work with it with under 2:30 to go. turning long from anderson, able to drop a pass that was trickled along and read there by heinen, heinen shook it across, what a great stop, then another try in front would not go and it's

underneath, dug out by marchand, hurried to chara by mcavoy. chara with one directed on goal. scramble in front, heinen put it on goal, flexed away by bobrovsky. mcavoy chased off by anderson. puck came right back in, anderson stepped in front of by charlie coyle who can accelerate ahead. heinen moving on, marchand, jones able to stagger free and hand it back out. panarin brings it back on. score of two tonight. wagner there, not onside play, on goal by marchand anyway and offside. >> mike m.: can't get much closer than this for the bruins. going to ring this one off the goal post. chara waits and tries to get it through. redirection finally pops off charlie coyle and he'll ding it off the post. good feed through, heinen gets piece of it, bobrovsky fends it
