time the suspect crashed into the garage on the left side of the screen. it ruptured the home's gas line. the suspect is a juvenile. between midnight and 1:00, they carjacked a van. we believe alameda county sheriff's office began chasing the van. they fled on foot and carjacked another vehicle a mile away. as you can see in this video, it was a black car. again, the carjacker did not have much luck get this time the suspect crashed off castro boulevard near 580. they were taken into custody. remarkably, no reports of injuries during these pursuits and crashes overnight. pg&e shut off the power here at s.is home. we know theight

castro valley, bob redell, today any bay. >> what an active night for that teenager. >> thanks, bob. chp hopes other drivers may have noticed what led up to a shooting in last night's commute. it happened at 6:00 on northbound 880 near the 238 interchange. neither of re hit by gunfire. officers shut down all lanes for 30 minutes. they are still trying the approximate get a description of the shooter's vehicle. oakland police will again be adding extra patrols to prevent sideshow activity. oakland is not the only city getting tough on sideshows. earlier this week, san jose passed an ordnance allowing them to punish sideshow spectators.

southern california. instead, they want to build a single tunnel with a different design and lower price. this isn't the only major process changed since taking office. he is reversing course on the high-speed rail plan. he is focusing on finishing the line currently under construction. >> newark and dublin bucking the trend when it comes to population rates, inching higher instead of going down. >> we look into why. population rates in dublin grew more than 4% last year. people are moving in even though the median price for a home is about $1 million. a one bedroom apartme the city's draw. >> and i know it's expensive, but it is still relatively affordable. there is a built of a commute to silicon valley. you can have a family here.

in the upper 60s by 11:00. in palo alto. in the south bay, looking at high temperatures reaching 78 in los gatos and cupertino. the windsm the northwest at 15 miles per hour. a nice breeze today making it feel nice and comfortable. but it is still going to be warm with highs reaching 82 in antioch. 82 in danville. a comfortable 70 degrees in oakland today. cool at half moon bay. we see the marine layer, clouds and fog hanging around much of the day. redwood city, up to 76. 65 on the embarcadero. north bay reaching as warm as 81 in ukiah. sonoma reaches 75. nice, warm weather today. we kept it clear. we will be tracking changes in our weekend forecast. it is all because of this swirl of clouds. this area of low pressure we have seen weakening the past

nbcbayarea.com/responds. thanks, chris. 4:50 right now. providing homes for the homeless is a challenge across the bay area. a lot of pushback from residents because many don't want the homeless in their neighborhood. >> and now it is playing out in the east bay. real estate developer terrence mcgrath allowed a homeless couple to live in the in-law suite in his home. he took the couple in during the rainy season. >> i really respect that. i wish i could be like that. >> terry is an amazing man. to see him actually take action like this. we can talk about being helpful. terry stepped up.e, not everyone in piedmont seems to think this is a great idea. police tell us they're getting a lot of 9 11 calls who spot the couple. a spokespso want the story about him.
