attempted murder. shots happened at midnight. chaosjured. not clear what led up to the attack. >> a follow-up on a deadly officer-involved shooting in san jose. police chief garcia is expected to give an update on the investigation. police were trying to recover a stolen car saturday afternoon when the suspect rammed his car into a patrol car and sped towards officers. one of those officers was hit, dragged, and then pinned. three officers opened fire. police say the suspect, believed to be a known gang member, died. the officer who was dragged under the car has a broken collarbone and other injuries. a developing story out of russia. 40 people in total were killed in a plane crash. witnesses recorded the video of the fiery landing. people on board. it was making the emergency

landing yesterday in moscow. there was a reported malfunction. a fire broke out during the plane's landing. you see what it led to. it is possible a hard landing could have led to the flames. some of the videos recorded by witnesses, you can see people scrambling to get off the burning plane. the type of plane is popular in armenia and mexico but not in the united states. >> meanwhile, there is a growing concern about boeing's management of the 737 max design. the company is releasing a statement that dates how it knew for months that a safety alert in the cockpit was not working as intended. yet it did not disclose that fact to airlines or federal regulators until after one of those planes crashed. the feature was designed to warn pilots when a key sensor might be providing incorrect information about the plane's nose. engineers realize the warning light only worked when they

purchased a separate add-on feature. a sting of attacks on a south bay highway. drivers say they have been terrified to drive in an area where someone has been throwing rocks at cars. >> now i just don't want to go back. as long as that man is not caught, i won't go back. >> reporter: he has been reliving a nightmare since last august when someone hurled a rock through his vehicle's window. he pulled over and discovered other families had been hit, too. >> we are lucky. five people. like, none of us got hurt,en a >> reporter: for a year someone has been hurling rocks along this particular pass mostly at night. it is a well traveled connector between the south bay and i-5.

then sunday morning it happened again. santa clara county sheriff's deputies got calls around 9:15. 20 cars had been hit along 152 between lovers lane and san felipe road. >> it's heartbreaking. it causes accidents and everything. >> reporter: they spotted him running into a field of tall vegetation. officers fanned out and found discarded clothing and eventually found and arrested this man. deputies say he is 28-year-old parolee jeremy valdez. >> oh, wow, that's crazy. yeah. my reaction is good. i'm glad they caught him. because that's dangerous. >> reporter: but investigators still. >> tony: if he's a suspect in the other rock throwing incidents. k . >> we can go back and enjoy whatever we tried to do on 152.

but you can see that line of storms actually moving westward and into the bay area. so we did start out with wet roads this morning. still a little bit of some light rain as we see some activity still over the north bay. we could pick up additional light rainfall totals as you get ready to head out the door. some of the rain moving through santa rosa, bodega bay and healdsburg as well. it still feels really cool outside. with breezy winds. we start out in antioch with a temperature of 56 degrees. 53 in napa. and it's starting 54 in san jose. 70 in santa rosa. 70, san jose. it will be cooler than some of the weather we have had because of the system moving through. get a look out the window. getting dressed, grab a jacket.

our highs in the upper 60s and low 70s. dublin, we start out at 54. we will see a mix of sun and clouds. at noon, 62 degrees. 6 at 4:00 today. our inland valleys only reach up to about 70 today. you can see as we go through the week, there will be a slight warming trend under way. overall, a nice quiet week. heading into mothers take, we'll see sunshine. highs in the upper 70s inland. san francisco in the upper 60s. mike, you have been tracking the roads. any issues yet. >> fremont, we saw flashing lights going north on 880 toward cushing boulevard. that's where there was a disabled vehicle cleared. that's why i used the past tense. southbound 880, 237 out of fremont, milpitas, your slow rain affected by a fire crew that has arrived. there may be minor injuries.
