door, a nice start to morning. up and we have another comfortable day ahead. we will talk about our forecast for the rest of the week. mike, you're watching other people work. >> yeah. not a lot of work for me to do. the roadways are incident fenow. but they are construction full around the bay. meaning there are lots of construction sites. here by the coliseum, you see flashing lights. a little bit of slowing here and there. crews move around as they have been the last 20 minutes between the coliseum and downtown oakland. word of a traffic break for a couple minutes. concord, walnut creek. the rest of the bay shows a dip in speeds out of the altamonte. peninsula, 101, we'll take a look at that coming up. back to you. sounds good.

affordable housing week continues with conversations around the bay area. >> work together. kris? >> reporter: well, hi there, laura and marcus. good morning to you. is going t on granny units, the accessory dwelling units we talked about yesterday and we told you a little bit about last week. they will talk about how to change legislation so they can be allowed here in the city of campbell in an effort to increase the housing stock. that is happening at 7:30 this evening. red road city, 11:00, the a roy ya green will provide units on bradford street which is good for seniors who might not want to drive. it is a project of mid peninsula housing. mountain view is also having a public meeting about 5eu 3-unit community w

concord city couple is talking about a townhome development. last week a talked with a real estate professor from santa clara university. i will tell you at 5:30 why he said all of these conversations happening right now are so critical to solving the housing problem before the state takes over and gets involved in our local matters. i'll tell you about that at 5:30. kris sanchez, "today in the bay". kris, thank you. big transformation is coming to a south bay community. san jose neighborhood will soon have 300 more security cameras on homes. because of a nearly $600,000 settlement. how this program will work and who can get one of those cameras. >> this has been stolen once. and they attempted a second time. >> reporter: dina garcia victim times from the car to her mail.

>> they opened it up, they broke the lock. i'm sick of it. >> reporter: so when the area was given $600,000 to help the community overall, she and many of her neighbors voted to install security cameras on homes. >> and i'm excited to try to capture who is coming around our neighborhood. i'm sure it's several people. >> reporter: there are 300 cameras available for those living south of bernal, north of bailey and 101 and the foothills. it is backed by the mayor and police chief. the first community meeting for those who want in. >> we have case after case that we know these cameras help solve crimes and they can reduce crime. if they can help the police department in any way, it's definitely worth while. >> reporter: officials say the funding comes from a settlement between the city and cal pine. it was designated for this community. the nonprofit safer sj is running the project. >> the cameras are pointing to streets and sidewalks, being able to see the license plate at

night. it is not license plate readers. but if you look at the video, you will see the license plate drive by and be highlighted. >> reporter: many neighbors are intrigued hoping they will be chosen for the program. >> anything we can do to minimize crime, i'm game. >> reporter: ian cole, "today in the bay". the number of traffic deaths in the city is going up. according to a report by the city's department of transportation, 52 people are dead as a result of a traffic collision last year. that's up from 46 in 2017. now, the report does have a specific reason for the spike. still an advocacy group is pushing for city council to dedicate more money and resources to fix the issue. a man wanted for murder. police consider him armed and extremely dangerous. his last known address is in east palo alto.

he shot and killed the son of former district attorney of merced. officials plan to form a necropsy on a dead whale. so far the marine mammal center says four died of malnutrition, three from contacts with a ship. scientists say that changing oceanic conditions may be altering the whales' food supply. 4:36. some things are worth staying up late for. other things, well, can be as much a letdown. >> that's how some bay area sports fans feel right about now. especially if they stayed up late to watch the sharks and the warriors. game 4 of their playoff series. they couldn't get over the hump. james harden scored 38, including a three late in the game for a nine-pointocrallied.

tariffs on chinese goods this week. stocks staging a big come back. they clawed back to finish at 66 points. today's watch list, the trade deficit and lyft. walmart is opening dozens of vet clinics in its stores. it has 21 clinics in six states, but will expand to 100 over the next year. routine exams, care for minor illnesses and vaccines. and an online pet pharmacy with low-cost prescriptions for dogs, cats, horses, livestock. walmart aiming to capitalize on the rides in spending on pets which is estimated to top $75 billion this year. now, the so many people are talking about. starbucks scored the mother of all product placements courtesy of the mother of dragons. a coffee cup was visible during

and we will stay dry as we look at our high temperatures today. and mostly sunny skies. breezy ones from the northwest at about 14 miles per hour for the south bay. reaching 72 in cupertino. as well as 72 in san jose and in gilroy. we'll see some low 70s for much reaching 73. we'll be up to 68 in oakland. and fremont today, up to 71 degrees. also 71 in balance low alto, daly city 61 degrees. low 60s for san francisco. north bay reaching up to 75 in ukiah. sono sonoma, 69 degrees. really nice. we'll start to get under way with a warming trend as high pressure produces more of a northerly wind. there will be changes as we see an area of low pressure over the desert southwest. that will start to back its way into the bay area. by late thursday night, early
