they will log off at 12:00 p.m. it will last until 12:00 a.m. other drivers may join in as well. the demands include higher pages, more transparency and better emissions standards for vehicles. los angeles is holding a 24-hour strike. the strike is being planned for today in the lead up to the initial public offering on friday. the company is expected to raise 9 billion from investors and will be valued at $90 billion. social media reaction drivers calling on others to join in. we will keep a look at that today.

coming to negotiate and, in his words, make a deal. we knew this. we knew they were e coming for trade negotiations. the point is to make a deal. but this tweet did the trick. the futures the best they make on the move moved upwards looking for a positive open. the members of the ftc will go before house energy and commerce committee ahead of big fines headed facebook's bay. there is concern the fine we have heard about is too small and doesn't sanction zuckerberg specifically. the san francisco business times compiled the median pay for all the major tech companies in silicon valley. you might think apple is really up there. in fact, the median pay at apple is well below the bay overall. $55,426. it is a huge company and employs people at its stores. they tend to have smaller

palo alto reaches up to 74 degrees. the mission district today up to 64. north bay reaching the low 70s. a lot of tree and grass pollen. it is affecting everyone's allergies. tuning up the bike, getting ready for bike to workday. that's tomorrow morning. we'll have everything you need to know about it. they have these energizer stations set up around the bay area. the south bay will start at 55 degrees. as the morning goes along, we'll be in the mid-60s. a mix of sun and clouds the next couple of days. but storms will develop over the sierra on thursday. and that will move into the bay area late thursday night. may even have rumbles of thunder. and parts of the tri-valley, east bay, and the south bay will be some of the target areas where we could see rain developing overnight on thursday into early friday morning. not expecting a lot of rain out

fastrak lanes, they are packed up right now. hv always a great idea. freeways themselves are moving nicely despite a crash on the shoulder. upper east shore freeway. everything moves well through that area. the rest of the bay's freeways moving nicely. a power line down in fremont at thornton. there is no light rail service between diridon and san antonio. the car on the tracks there. they're taking care of it. a bus bridge in place right now. . another attack at another school. this time outside denver. within the last hour we found out new information about yesterday's mass shooting at a charter school. investigators now say one of the suspected shooters is a female. originally investigators believed both were male. the two.s were taken into custody. they were not together when they did that.

they are not releasing the motive behind the attack in which one student was killed. we know three of the injured victims still remain in intensive care. 18-year-old devon ericsson walked into the school and shot their classmates in two separate locations. >> the next thing i know he is pulling a gun and he's telling nobody to move. and then when kendrick lunged at him and he shot kendrick, giving

us enough time to get underneath our desks to get ourselves safe and to run across the room to escape. >> wow. so deputies quickly arrived and managed to stop that shooting within minutes. the shooting happened about seven miles away from the columbine school shooting 20 years ago. you can actually watch that student's full interview on the "today" show right after "today in the bay". >> such a sad series of events for those kids. thank you very much. 6:33 right now. a warning if you're planning on picking up an uber or lytt today. rideshare drivers are expected to strike today in at least 10 cities, including here in the bay area. talk about the drivers's demands, pete. >> they are hoping the 12-hour strike is expected to take place

later today. uber drivers are being told to log off for 12 hours at 12:00 p.m. other drivers with rideshare apps such as lyft may take part as well. the strike is being planned for today. the company is expected to raise $9 billion and be valued above $90 billion. a couple of statements from both uber and lyft. lyft goes on to say earnings have increased in response to wages. it is unclear what kind of impact this will have. a rally before today's 12-hour strike will take place at uber headquarters at 12 p.m. live in san francisco, pete

suratos, "today in the bay". >> i'm sure it will get a lot of people's attention. thank you. >> 6:34 right now. hopefully the roads will be getting a bit smoother in oakland. the city approves a major pothole repair plan and the self-proclaimed pothole vigilantes may not get the credit, they sure did get the city's attention. kris sanchez joins us live. kris, how soon can the drivers find relief? >> reporter: drivers will say not soon enough, marcus. oakland is known to have some of the worst roads in the country. a three-year plan to fix those with $100 million in funding. it is going to be a lot more official than these fixes by the so-called pothole vigilantes. they are going around the city and filling holes with street asphalt the last couple of weeks.

75% of funds will go towards repairs. the pluck of the work will go to outside contractors to sort of speed things along. each council member can prioritize the roads. they will have to tell the department of transportation by september. the fixes will not happen overnight. i've been asking which do you think needs fixing first? i asked where are the worst roads? people are saying oakland and east bay. the city of san jose is also fixing roadways.

mike. 6:43. something you may be using, the subject of several lawsuits. eight people claim they were severely burned by pam cooking spray owned by conagra. it is due to a faulty vent system in the bottom of the can. the design was used in a limited products. they claim flammability warning labels. it goes on to say when pam is used correctly, as instructed, it is a 100% safe and effective product. we're looking forward to our day in court. it is the way of the lawsuit and is looking into it. new for you this morning, santa rosa firefighters are investigating an early morning sixth floor apartme fire. no one person is in the hospital. one person is there now. a dozen others are out of their homes this morning.

santa rosa fire posted this on twitter. you can see the ladder truck being used. the department says it started at 1:00 at an apartment complex on mendocino and 4th about one block from the russian river brewery. one person suffered serious burns. quarter to 7:00. happening today, educate rs planning to make their voices heard on this day of the teacher. teachers will strike at lowe's medanos in pittsburg. they are at an impasse with the district over failed contract negotiations. they are asking for a 4% raise and the district is offering a 1% increase. they say that is not enough. she has this message for the district. >> come to the table and be open to some different resolutions. we want to work with you. we want to make everything equal between us.

>> the district issued a statement saying it shares the frustration of inadequate funding for public education at the state. mediation talks set to get under way next tuesday. >> new details, renters in milpitas might be interested to hear this news. the city rejected rent control. that decision came after a heated two-hour discussion. instead of any ordnance being approved, the city council will instead explore other ways for housing in the city. donald trump was not ale very good businessman. >> hundreds of millions of dollars over the course of 10 years. >> the "times" got tax returns from trump.

he lost more money than any other taxpayer in americ he reported losses of $46 million. casinos, hotels, retail space and apartment buildings. continued to lose money every year totals 1.17 billion in losses for the decade, which he wrote off, meaning he paid no taxes in eight of those 10 years. president trump reacted on twitter. his first tweet in more than a day calling it fake news and explaining claiming losses for tax purposes was a sport. it is embarrassing for trump. but it doesn't tell us what we want to know about his taxes. we knew he wasn't a very good businessman. he filed for bankruptcy, he failed to pay off a number of debts. when the is last time you flew on trump airlines? what americans don't know and what his actual recent tax returns may show is what was the money coming in and where was it

coming from? it is not the outgo but the income that critics are suspicious of. the house will vote whether to find the top law enforcement officers in contempt for not turning over the unredacted mueller report. the white house has a strong legal case here. but the white house instructed gone mcgahn not to testify before congress. instructing him not to participate, though. some in congress would consider that an impeachable offense. the chinese vice premier will talk about trade. this was prescheduled. but it comes as trump is thinking of raising tariffs from 10% to 25%, matching other tariffs already at 25%.

we will see temperatures from 56 degrees to 70 at lunchtime. the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen. in brentwood, mid-50s at 7:00. at 9:00, 60 degrees. 71 degrees at noon. reaching into the mid-to upper 70s today. 78 and 79 in ukiah today. we preach up to 63 degrees in san francisco. maybe even comfortable shoes to spend extra time outside. we still see the clouds and the fog near the coast. it will clear in the valleys.

thunderstorms developing over the sierra into the bay area. it could trigger a few thunderstorms especially in the tri-valley. some of the east bay hills. and moving into the south bay. many of us at home getting ready to go to bed. you may hear rumbles of thunder, rain hitting the roof. not a lot of us will see the rain. it moves out early friday morning. lingering showers on friday morning. after that it warms up. inland valleys up to 77 degrees. continuing into the mid-70s next week. and san francisco slight chance of showers friday morning. overall highs in the 60s with morning clouds and afternoon sunshine. it smells so wonderful. a scattering of assorted things.

the northbound slow. we saw on the golden gate bridge it cleared up. a slow moving vehicle escorted to the north side. no other detail. counter commute coming into the city, very smooth. no incidents and that's great. a smooth flow of traffic. right around 92. not a lot of slowing. fremont, we continue to follow the issue. the closure is fremont boulevard closed between american high school and thornton. it will be a factor. this will continue until after 9:00, 10:00 in the morning. folks arriving for school, heading to school. teachers and students included. watch or to the closure. folks between the freeway and san padre will watch the closure on this side of the intersection. thornton junior high will see
