>> it was. it warmed up so fast, too. i mean by lunch, it was hot. one of those afternoons where it starts off a little chilly, then cools off and then gets really hot. right now san francisco 53, and yes, it is cloudy pretty much throughout. we have the low clouds hanging tight even through the -- looks like my graphics are doing their own thing. >> it is saturday morning, they are tired. >> there we go. san jose, also a little cloudy. and temperatures in the 50s. but i want to get you prepped for your saturday afternoon. here is a look at what you can expect. good news, we'll see good clearing inland areas. coast will still get some cloud cover, but overall we'll warm up again. through oakland, 69, south bay will be upper 70s. and low 80s through the inland valley. so it will be a good mix, upper 50s, low 60s along the coast. near the city or along the peninsula, a little breezier, a little cloudier, but if you drive further down to the south,

it should warm up. i'll have a look at your mother's day forecast and what you can expect to celebrate mom coming up. there was some star power in houston last night. beyonce and jay-z, in case you missed it. but it was all about the curries. steph's proud parents as steph came up with one of the best performances of his career as the warriors eliminated the rockets and are now headed to the fifth in a row western conference finals. there have been a number of great moments in the past five year, but this game was among the greatest. no kevin durant, no demarcus cousins and steph fighting through an injury. different political view in san francisco with he goes and now police are trying to crack his streak. the man was caught on camera, you can see him here, in nob hill throwing eggs at this home. he also put up stickers in support of president trump. the homeowner believes that she was targeted because of her sign calling for the president to impeached. four time this is guy has attacked in the last six months. >> we have cameras, so we see him. we have a picture of him every time he does that, so he climb halfway and he throw the eggs at the door. >> do you think he knows he is being caught on camera? >> i don't think that he cares. >> the home owner is offering $500 to whomever can help her find him. a neighbor caught wind of what was happening and she also put an impeach sign up in her window as a sign of support. well, he was wanted and now caught. san jose police believe they found the driver who sped away from a street race that turned deadly.

today. san francisco will be more like in the low 60s. we'll have the mother's day weekend forecast coming up. and nbc news investigation is raising questions about the safety of the nation's drug supply. there have been dozens of recalls in the last year alone of generic blood pressure medications because they are contaminated with car sin know against. and now there are concerns from factories overseas that supply some ingredients to our gentleman with their rick drgen manufacturers. >> reporter: recalls have been issued 45 times for certain batches of blood pressure drugs. last summer denise got a recall letter from her pharmacy. >> the impurity has been classified as a probable human carcinogen. >> reporter: her medication was tainted with an ingredient formerly used in the production of rocket fuel. 85% of the factories making the

raw ingredients come from outside the u.s., police place india and china. this former investigator says one factory he inspected in china was using damaged equipment. and in india, one factory saw work he is destroying and altering records. >> we were quite shocked to see that they were staying up all night shredding extensive amounts of documents right before our audit. >> reporter: the fda did recall some drugs because a u.s. drug manufacturer detected impurities. the fda wrote in part it investigating the root causes and insists the overall risks to individual patients is small. >> and if you have concerns about your medications, you should check to see if they have been recalled and also check with your wdoctor or pharmacist to see if there are alternative drugs available. much more ahead on "today in the bay." things where loare looking downt

$4.20. but we should see a drop by memorial day. it is not the team trip they envisioned after just one day in the bay area, a championship water polo team is already the victim of a crime. you can see the busted van window shattered glass, this is the van of the university of hawaii. they are here for a tournament at stanford. but before the women's team could even play, someone broke into their van stealing all their equipment as well as laptops and passports. it happened in downtown palo alto as the team was grabbing dinner nearby. >> the energy and angriness put in. >> the university of hawaii now says that stanford helped replace the gear so that they could play in the match yesterday. they faced off against cal ultimately losing the match. they had their blood, sweat and tears to help the war effort. now the last surviving rosie the

so it is a little combination of kind of cool and mild, but the clouds make it feel a little bit chillier out there. let's take a look at where the cloud cover currently is. you can see it is pretty much hugging parts of santa rose through half moon bay, low clouds through the south bay and livermore and hayward. so as you head out this morning, you will encounter that. but by the afternoon, things should clear out quite nicely especially inland. in fact we're talking mostly clear sunshine and warmer temperatures. look at this spread of microclimate. we have upper 50s in half moon bay, low 60s in san francisco. 62. and then some upper 60s for oakland and then upper 70s low 80s for inland valleys. so if you are in the interior valleys or the south bay, expect a warm-up. also north bay. it is just san francisco and the coastal areas will remain fairly cool through the afternoon. let's talk about what will happen the next couple days because we will remain dry today, but what about mother's

day which is tomorrow? so i want to take you through future cast here. again, we are tracking the cloud cover. good new, we will be staying fairly dry. but if you will be driving anywhere to the sierra or the south lake tahoe area, future cast right here, let me take you all the way through about 5:00, 6:00, that is of course a combination of rain and a lot of cloud cover up through lake tahoe area. so if you are driving up to lake tahoe, leave early tomorrow morning and then plan for showers into the evening hours. as far as the rest of us go, we'll just get clouds for the coastline and we should remain dry. you don't have to worry about the rain. so let me give you a look at your lake tahoe forecast. so again, leave very early tomorrow morning. by about 4:00, 5:00, the rain moves in, a chance of seeing thunderstorms and lightning and then that will kind of linger in through the evening hours. so hopefully by then you will be cozy inside of a cabin somewhere or having a great dinner. mother's day, inland

track down a bit of family lore about two houses the family believed they once owned. well, they didn't. but glenn says that one lead led to a fascinating and ultimately very american story. >> this didn't exist. this was basically a path. >> reporter: glenn is an architect and documentary filmmaker who has learned so much about his san francisco roots he can tell you just how far down into the ground those roots go. >> about 16 to 20 feet below where we are. >> reporter: in the late 1800s, 16 to 20 feet was how much lower minnesota street was in the dog patch neighborhood. >> it was rather extra ordinary. >> reporter: and near the corner of minnesota and 23 rd is where his great grandfather built a ranch and settled his family. >> he must have been incredibly smart. he was incredibly entrepreneurial.

>> reporter: the story is at the heart of glenn's newest documentary, tracing his family's story back to lim's arrival in the united states. >> he came to america when he was 12 years old in 1855. and he was sent by his family to earn money and send it back. >> reporter: just a few years later, lim was one of the very first of what would become thousands of chinese immigrants to work on completing the first transcontinental railroad. >> that he shows up in the records as being apparently in what is called the first 50. >> reporter: glenn believes lim was changed by his experiences in the american west. it may be why when settling in san francisco lim didn't move to chinatown, but built that ranch in dog patch to keep his horses and wagon. though one historian gave glenn a different theory. >> she said you know, you need to understand that your great

wow. suspect is hit. suspect is down. suspect is down. >> this is one that you're not going to let go. he has to be stopped. he is an immediate danger. >> that was nbc's kathy park reporting. back here locally, if you are headed to the beach this mother's day weekend, be squawa sharks. a surfer had a wrestle her way out of danger. the attack happened tuesday at north salmon creek beach. there are shark warning signs.lifeguard who witnessed it said kate womilson was paddling out when the shark bit into her leash. she said she tried to stay small and stay on top of the surfboard. eventually the leash broke and wilson was able to swim to shore. >> at least a sighting once a year on our coastline here and the attacks are way more rare. but we've had a few attacks over the years. and i've been around for one.

>> like so many surfers, wilson was back in the water the next day. good for her. of berkeley teens are in trouble in connection with a laptop theft. the robbery happened yesterday at people's cafe in downtown berkeley. the owner says that it is the second laptop stolen there in just a matter of weeks. workers explained how the teens came in wearing hoodies and just snatched the computer from a woman at a corner table. police say the victim then ran after the thieves. there was pushing and there were threats involved. >> i think it is kind of like sad, you know. we should be aable to use our stuff without someone taking it. >> police recovered the woman's laptop as well as an ipad reported stolen an hour prior on the cal campus. it is unclear if this is the same crew that has been hitting other cafes in same area. in case you missed it,

attempt to make sailing history. welcome back. for more than six months, we've been tracking a bay area man's attempt to make sailing history. randall reeves is trying to become the first person to sail solo around the antarctic and the americas. today in the bay's joe rosato junior ig caught up with the oakland native in the application ocean. >> reporter: you never know just how far someone will go to chase their dreams. this sailor ran dalg reeves wda apparently will go wherever it takes. he is attempting to become the first person to sail so he slow around the americas and the and arctic continent in one season. passing through all the world's oceans. with the satellite up link and

phone, reeves was able to send back images and an update from somewhere in the atlantic ocean. >> about 500 miles east of brazil. >> reporter: his boat is his companion why not. >> this boat and i headed south and have pain at sea every day since then. >> reporter: reeves has now spent horn 200 days at sea. >> just think of all the things you you've done since october of last year and for every one those days, we've been out here. >> reporter: this is actually reeves' second run at history. >> this entire half of the boat is under water. >> reporter: in october 2017, he set out on the same journey which he calls the figure 8 voyage, but two months later storms battered his bet to the point he had to scrub his trip. >> everything got wet. >> reporter: but so far this time, he's passed cape horn at the southern tip of south america and is heading towards the arctic. >> 200 days is a long time.
