connecting both sides of the bay area. westbound, light commute. tire reported in lanes. pieces of the tire. and a crash with vehicles over on the right shoulder over here, and not a lot of space. i have seen this flowing smoothly the last 20 minutes since the crash was initially reported. we may have one lane blocked. we don't want any surprises in the morning. folks are focussed on the rest of the day. we want to make sure you focus on the clear roadways, exempt for the san mateo bridge. >> in a few hours, a south bay man accused of murder is due in court, reigniting the debate over undocumented immigrants. investigators say he murdered 59-year-old bamly larson in her south san jose home. he is an undocumented immigrant from el salvador. i.c.e. tried to deport him nine

times but the requests were not ordered. if passed, the county could contact i.c.e. with an undocumented immigrant is about to be set free. kris sanchez is following the story for us. she'll join us with a live report in our 5:00 a.m. hour. what caused an f-16 plane to crash into a warehouse. the pilots safely ejecting before the crash. the building not too far from the air reserve base in riverside. investigators believe the f-16 developed hydraulic problems during the training session. although the exact reasons why are not yet clear. happening today, the debate over president trump's border wall picks up in a courtroom. a federal judge will hear a request from 20 states to block the federal emergency plan. the president wants to divert close to $7 billion from other deposit agencies as a way to

of road rage. >> reporter: these say there is no indication of that. >> i am still kind of shooken up about it. i'm glad everyone is safe and no one was hurt. >> reporter: cheryl hurd, "today in the bay". a cal student is facing criminal charges accused of two separate attacks on women. campus p arrested fin wolf. he grabbed, punched, and bit two different women before sexual assaulting them. the first attack happened in 2017 and the second just two months ago. they fear that more victims may be out there. >> fremont police want to talk to this man identified as antonio harris. they say he was involved in a brawl early this year at a fremont denny's that involved a worker and another customer who tried to intervene. the other customer was seriously hurt. he has a tattoo you can see across his forehead. if you know where he is contact fremont police.

>> it is now looking certain that hundreds of teachers in the east bay won't be in class monday. they are expected to strike. negotiations broke down this week. both sides are trying to bridge a huge gap between pay hike demands and what the new haven school district is ready to offer. this would be the first strike in the history of the district, which has 11,000 students in nine schools. >> several bay area counties pushing for lower drug prices. those include san francisco, alameda, and santa clara n janu signed an executive order to create a collective bargaining group for agencies that buy medicine for retirees, hospitals, even inmates. leaders from the three bay area counties agreed to sit at the same negotiating table. according to good rx, medicines cost 14% more in san francisco compared with the national average. well, the sharks tonight

coming up on today in the bay.. good morning. here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set to open in the red this morning. trade tensions between the u.s. and china are lingering after president trump bid to block huawei. the markets still rose largely driven by walmart and cisco systems. boeing says it has finished wor flight control system on the 737 max. that system malfunctioned on the two flights that crashed in end nearby that and ethiopia, lead to go a grounding of the planes since march. boeing still needs approval from the faa, which must fly a

the east bay this morning. overlooking walnut creek. no rain in sight. clouds are lingering, hanging on. what surprises they will bring for us this weekend is all coming up. if you're looking for something fun to do this weekend, you might to the contra costa county fair where there is plenty to do. oink. checking out the animals, the carnival rides. you can't forget the fair food. what is your favorite? funnel cake or something? >> funnel cake, yes. >> organizers say this weekend's rain won't impact all the fun. >> gates are open, rain or shine. don't let a little bit of rain keep your fun from happening. >> take it from joe. the fairground is located in antioch. $7 for kids. pure fun there. nostalgia. >> classic. >> rain or shine. >> and the rain is going to visit us. >> yeah. later on this weekend.

we at least have today with dry weather across the bay area. thats your day to get out and enjoy a little bit of sun. we are seeing the storm system that brought us rain. still producing snow for the sierra. we will gradually see skies clearing out. let's talk about the storm totals and where we see the most rain. mt. tam, three inches. san to rosa, close to two and a half inches, three times more than they normally get for the whole month of may. dublin got an inch and a quarter. san francisco, three-quarters of an inch. in oakland, we had over a half inch of rain. almost a half inch in san jose. that's also the normal amount we get for the whole month. if you are going to the contra costa county fair, it is a good day for it. as the kids get out of school, head over there. temperatures reaching the upper 60s. a nice breeze. it is the best day of the weekend to go.

66 in east san jose, gilroy. oakland today, 62 degrees. and cool on the coast with daly city reaching 56 degrees. upper 50s in san francisco. and in the north bay, expect some upper 60s today. very humid and cloudy start. but we will get some sunshine as once again that storm system moves off to the east. it is looking all clear and sunny for all the bay area. as you make saturday plans, we will start to see clouds increasing as the sun rises. the rain will roll in starting in the north bay first, spreading across the bay area throughout the day. there will be some pockets of some heavy rain. it looks like it just gets heavier as we go into the evening. by sunday morning, it is still going to be raining off and on and continuing throughout the day. our rainfall totals look fair significant and especially for

the middle to end of may. another inch of rain for parts of the south bay and the south county. east bay up to an inch and a half. also an inch and a half in the north bay. it will still be snowing in the sierra, if you still have travel plans to get there, they have dropped chain controls temporarily. they may go back up again once that next storm moves in. we're looking at another foot of snow in spots. yeah, still a lot more snow next week. here's a look at our forecast for the inland areas. it will be a cool weekend. off and on showerst' raining. moving out on monday. tuesday, another storm system comes in. so it will be quite soggy as we wrap up the end of the month. mike, you are tracking a traffic break >> traffic breaks, plural. you see the median where they are to go the updating work, continuing to move around through the area. we have crews that are moving. at the bottom of the screen you

see, for example, one set of trucks that are moving. as they clear the area, a little bit of slowing. we just saw the flash be lights. that's what's going on along the peninsula. no problems. a couple minute delay there. traffic flowing smoothly into and out of palo alto. a fender-bender reported in san ramon. sens, but it just happened. a crash here. waiting on the details there. antioch cleared from highway 4 at the off-ramp. the bay bridge toll plaza clear, and so is the richmond-san rafael bridge. 4:50 right now. vallejo police have the highest rate per capita of deadly shootings in northern california. >> steven and his team spent a month on the patty with

officers, talking to community leaders and victims as well as the police chief. >> reporter: shots fired. it's a frequent police radio call in vallejo. we got behind the scenes access streets for 23 years now. he has seen a lot during that time period. high-speed chase. according to the state attorney general data, vallejo police killed 13 people per 100,000 residents since 2011, the highest rate in northern california, and the third highest rate in the entire state. are there things you can do better? more diversity, more training in order to reduce the number of shootings? >> certainly. we should strive to do better every single day. but we are only focused on a police problem. we're not considering there is a community problem. why is the crime rate so high?
