this is charles mckinney's house or was charles mckinney's house. he was asleep, so he had no warning when the tornado came through and destroyed the house. he woke up as the roof was collapsing on his bed. remarkably, he was able to craml out and survived wicked weather packing a powerful punch severe storms ripping through the southern plains. carving through cities and small towns. this morning residents from texas to nebraska are still on high alert after dozens of dangerous tornados tore through the region in comanche county, oklahoma, significant damage. >> i seen a funnel cloud. >> reporter: homes ripped to pieces after an ef-2 tornado took aim on geronimo. >> this is all that's left of the roof. >> reporter: in nebraska two supercell storms spawning

terrifying twisters. storm chasers capturing funnels through fields this twister a little too close for comfort. >> it could be one of the more significant severe weather outbreaks in the southern plains in many, many years. >> reporter: residents in kansas also battling mother nature's wrath. this jaw-dropping video showing a massive tornado leaving behind a path of destruction. while down in texas another tornado touching down in the city of abilene, smacking this elementary school on a day it was, thankfully, empty, and leaving thousands without power. relentless rain and hail also leaving their mark as a battered region braces for more the homeowner here says he does have insurance he tried to find his papers in this mess, not an easy task. one he'll do when the daylight

the area where there is a significant tornado risk, ef-2 to ef-5 tornados possible from tulgs tulsa, abilene, all the way down to san angelo some an area ten states, talking about 15 million people moving to the east into illinois all the way back down into texas here is the setup. we have got strong instability, warm air being pumped up from the gulf from that high pressure plus a powerful jet stream on top of it that's extreme sheer, winds from different directions causing the spin this morning storms developing texas into oklahoma and wichita into kansas. the squall line will form. then tonight long strong, long track tornados, damaging winds the big danger, this is going to be overnight, rain wrapped it will be hard to see and there will be very little warning. so you have to stay very alert, and today we have got heavy rain look at this we have got a moderate to high risk of rain from texas all the way into kansas and parts of missouri why? because we are looking at rainfall amounts anywhere from 3

about unity. they say democrats are so angry, that the angrier a candidate ca be, they can win a nomination. i don't believe it i really don't. >> reporter: that message comes as the president is under fire from a member of his own party michigan's republican congressman justin amash, a member of the freedom caucus and frequent critic of the president, becoming the first member of the gop to raise the issue of impeachment tweeting, president trump has engaged in impeachable conduct. the president firing back calling aplane crash a loser and a lightweight, saying ultimately, if he read the report he would see it was strong on no collusion and ultimately no obstruction. but in a 13-tweet threat amash said he read the 484-page report which found no conspiracy, but did not reach a conclusion on whether the president obstructed

justice. over the weekend mitt romney disagreeing with amash. >> i respect him i think it's a courageous statement, but i believe that to make a case for obstruction of justice you just don't have the elements that are evidenced in this document. >> reporter: and it is important to note it's not unusual for congressman amash to break with his own party. this is no exceptions -- no exception, he is the first and so far only republican to raise the issue of impeachment. still the bigger question may be will amash add fuel to the democratic push for impeachment. >> the president also making news on the foreign policy front over the weekend as well what more can you tell us about that >> reporter: that's right, craig, he is over the weekend president trump sent out ominous tweet saying if iran wants to fight that will be the official end of iran never threaten the united states again. that warning comes after tensions were escalating between the u.s. and iran, each accusing

kidnapping drama in texas. an 8-year-old girl has been reunited with her family after she was snatched from her mother's arms in broad daylight. police are crediting a group of good samaritans with that girl's safe return. nbc's gabe gutierrez is in texas with details on this gabe, good morning >> reporter: good morning. hard for any parent to fathom, a young girl snatched from her mother's arms in this quiet neighborhood in broad daylight this is where she was taken. that is the home where the doorbell camera captured it all. we are hearing from a local pastor being called a hero this morning a young girl kidnapped in texas has been reunited with her family a stranger ripping the child away from her mother while they were walking along a fort worth street saturday in broad daylight the brazen abduction caught on a neighbor's doorbell camera the footage showing this terrifying moment when a car sped away with 8-year-old salem sabatka inside her mother tossed to the ground by the kidnapper as she tried to

save her daughter. >> help me, please my daughter just got kidnapped. >> reporter: the neighbor who owns the camera responded to the woman's alarming cries for help. >> a blood-curdling type scream. >> reporter: the mother called 911 prompting police to issue a statewide amber alert. investigators releasing this photo of the suspect's vehicle and asking for the public' help finding the missing girl. >> we have a very disturbed mom, disturbed family right now. >> reporter: the nightmare coming to an end after more than eight hours thanks to couple of good samaritans. the pair calling police after spotting the suspect's vehicle at this hotel. officers moving in to make the arrest. >> we got her, we got her, we got her. >> reporter: the suspect is 51-year-old michael webb he is now behind bars charged with aggravated kidnapping police commending the community's efforts to bring salem home. >> they become the search party,
