the two leaders briefing te tensions with north korea. for the latest we go to hallie jackson who is traveling with the president. halle, good morning. >> reporter: hey there, frances and marlie, good morning to the both of you. president trump is waking up again in japan after holding a news conference with prime minister shinzo abe of japan we were there and there were some notable moments coming out of this press conference we knew that trade and north korea would be top of the agenda and they certainly were in this discussion president trump, when asked about whether he thought the recent missile test by north korea violated u.n. security council resolution, president trump said it didn't matter to him. he said some in his administration, notably john bolton, believed those tests do violate the resolution president trump said he was unbothered by them, essentially brushing off the concern about what north korea is doing. he was also asked if he still had confidence in bolton, and

president trump said he did, which is notable given that bolton just essentially contradicted president trump a matter of 48 hours ago here in japan. when asked, too, about the president's recent tweet, it seemed to show more respect to kim jong-un's side with the north korean dictator and his attacks against former vice-president joe biden president trump said very simply that he thought biden was a disaster and standing on foreign soil went on to list a number of policy differences that he had with barack obama and joe biden, including, for example, the iran nuclear deal that has been a criticism president trump has levelled before on the topic of trade, we didn't expect a trade deal to come out of this meeting between these two leaders, and sure enough it has not. instead. two simply agreed to accelerate the pace of talks moving forward as to be able to get some kiernd of trade deal done keep in mind prime minister abe has parliamentary elections coming up in july. president trump seems to want to give him some breathing room and put off any kind of trade discussions more deeply until after that happens so plenty of news coming out of
