a very good monday morning to you. it is memorial day, may 27th. as we take a live look outside. ty b the bay, san francisco this morning. a nice start to our day. a lot of people have the holiday off. >> i'm scott mcgrew. marcus has the day off. and kari and mike. so vianey is doing double duty. >> i've got you covered. folks are wondering if they will be catching rain today. we have been monitoring the system that brought scattered showers sunday. zoom in closer. you get an idea that we are noticing the system is off to the south now. however, we have in stability and lingering moisture just

behind that. that could pop up a couple of sprinkles throughout our early morning for the north bay mountains. as a seasonable. the aftern clouds. but overall still cloudy afternoon compared to what you would expect a a sunny memorial day monday. this is what we are expect to go monitor all day. not a lot of traffic. in fact, we like to play this game where we count the cars. one, two, three. any time we have a holiday morning. as i was walking over to do this report, i noticed this crash pop up in the south bay. i'm going to check out what that is all about in the chp reports. i'll get back to you in just a bit. 4:31 right now. shooting at one of san francisco's busiest parks causes holiday chaos.

>> dolores park shooting. one person still in the hospital. police are still trying to figure out what happened. crime scene tape and circles of pedestrian bridge on church street where the shots were fired. >> people started running down the hill. >> i think as we were about to walk towards the park we heard two loud shots i guess. we weren't sure if they were gunshots or not. >> she and leah watched as people ran from the gunfire. >> i saw most people running down the hill. but in the upper area were slowly walking up. but i did see a lot of people running. >> no one was injured. one person was shot and rushed to san francisco "general hospital". he's expected to survive his wounds. another man was handcuffed and put into a patrol car.

we watched as they joined uniformed police officers comb through the area looking for something. the area where the shooting happened is in the exact spot where another shooting happened nearly two years ago. since then, a security camera has been installed, which may be helpful as police investigate this shooting. 4:33. striking teachers in the new haven school district will be back at the bargaining table yesterday. yesterday ended with no deal and a lot of questions. today marks one week since teachers in union city and hayward went on strike. teachers are starting to feel the frustration. teachers abruptly walked out of talks. >> or there 11,000 students who need to go back to school. we needbe and the fact that they're not moving and not budging and offering the same exact thing they have been offering all along is just unacceptable. >> the district continues to maintain giving in to

de up the pieces after a deadly weekend tornado. two people tied when an f-3 tornado touched down near el reno saturday. 29 people injured. what you're looking at is what's left of a motel and mobile home park. crews are still sifting through the rubble. >> just like we have seen in oklahoma before. it is hand work. we can't bring n heavy equipment at this time. >> you heard him say "before." this isn't the first time el reno has been touched by this tragedy. eight people died in 2013 in the widest tornado ever recorded. 4:34. three y this morning accused in a robbery and high-speed chase through contra costa county. we have video from where the crash ended. when the car crashed into another car on highway 4 in antioch. a cash drawer and coins wer robt

a gas station. officers peublgd up the chase in lafayette. so far there's no word on injuries in the suspect or crash victims. but roz plater continues to follow the story and will have a live report in the 5:00 a.m. hour. >> a transient is in custody after finding a home made pipe bomb in his possession. that's what you see there. it started yesterday as a loitering report. the bomb squad had to be called in to remove that device. deputies found the suspect in possession of a stun gun as well as drugs and burglary tools. they also say the suspect is wanted in connection with a separate felony. >> new details on a controversial raid by the san francisco police department. chief bill scott facing calls to resign after police raided a freelance journalist's home. hief said the raid may have violated the law and called for an investigation into the officers' actions. yesterday the police commission released a statement calling the

chief a leader with high integrity. but the police officers' union is calling for him to resign. a new weapon that may save lives on bart. all officers will start carrying narcan. sfpd has been carrying it since 2015. they are all trained to administer it. bart had previously been resistant to the areas citing concerns about training, logistics and potential risks. let the buildup again in the warriors quest for 4. the long countdown to tip-off is ready. the raptors first final berth. they captured the eastern conference championship. they will host games one and two. that starts on thursday. to get to oracle, warriors host three and four and along where game six if necessary.

heroes. 4:40 right now. bay area memorial day events to remember americans. the 151st annual flag raising and parade in the pre-sid dough. that starts at 9:45 a.m. uss hornet's annual wreath toss at 11:00 in alameda, and the ceremony in golden gate national cemetery in san bruno. dublin traffic camera. chp wants you avenue on the roads across the bay area, and really across the state this memorial day. the chp reporting at least 18 people have died across california so far this holiday weekend. half were not wearing seatbelts. there have been at least 741 drunk driving arrests. chp reminds people to call a cab or rideshare or arrange for a designated driver the same warnings apply if you're going out on the water.

the coast guard reminds you to be safe and sober. anyone under the age of 20 who operates a vessel must have a boater card and life jacket for every single on board whether or not they wear them. 80% of drownings involve people who are not wearing one. taking a live look at the golden gate bridge. you should ride a bike, take a bus or rideshare. parking lots at the south end and north end are closed today. officials want to keep traffic flowing and prevent any backup. it is pretty clear right now. for sure. google taking the color out of its website to honor memorial day. you can see the american flag at the bottom of the screen, along with a link that ask americans to pause at 1:00 minute this afternoon for moment of remembrance. day forecast with vianey arana.

weekend weather-wise. "today in the bay )s" kris well, look at that. dynamic end to the weekend weather-wise or at least the traditional weekend. kris sanchez got shots of san jose's hail yesterday. that's just phenomenal. >> many roads closed this morning. look at all the snow. some tourists actually became stranded. this morning travelers are able to get out using highway 140 and el port >> al road. >> it looks like january not the end of may in kingvale. almost>> people put their boatse water for memorial day. >> you need chains. >> they're snowed out. they are just coughed in snow. amazing. >> people were asking about road conditions in tahoe. there will be a window where the travel will be rough.

and tornado activity in the central valley. >> there will be a lot of in stability in the atmosphere. the storm that moved in yesterday, it makes it where it moved in with not necessarily heavy downpours. it was enough in stability to kick up the winds. we were monitoring the chance of thunderstorms and hail. i have a bit of good news, th though. showers will move out. it was a little gusty at times w in the vegas area. the way that it moved, leaving behind a little bit of in stability, as i was mentioning. we still have a chance of seeing showers into the afternoon.

we have seen a couple of areas popping up here and there. but for the most part, the north bay mountains might get a couple of showers into the afternoon. everyone else should be okay. hour-by-hour outlook, a couple of pockets of light showers in the south bay and santa cruz mountains. it will linger all day long with partial clearing. the rest of the bay area, we'll be okay. it will be cloudy. temperatures expected to warm up a little bit. we will be keeping breezy conditions. santa rosa will climb into the 70s. the north bay didn't climb into any 70s. ukiah, 62. oakland, 63. san jose, 67 degrees. palo alto, 64. so typically we should be seeing

a lot more 70s than we are. but i do have a bit of warmup on the way for you all. so once this system moves out completely, leaving all the in stability behind it as well, we will notice a warmup. that will affect us into the middle of the week. by tuesday, we will get a better idea how much sun we are tracking. we welcome that into weapons and thursday. next weekend, warming into the 70s for san francisco. get this, we're monitoring 80s for inland areas. it will bring a nice warmup and much needed spring sunshine, which is a lot more appropriate for this time of year. all right. so now let's get a check of the roads. i told you i was going to look into a crash that popped up in the last report. a wide look at the bay area. seeing okay roads right now. holiday light traffic. a stalled vehicle approaching the bay bridge toll plaza. might notice activity off to the

side. a crash at the alameda. cars are now on the shoulder. it could be a road hazard. nothing being blocked, though. when you drive by, just be sure to do so safely. all of transit running on a sunday schedule. parking lot is having a parking holiday, which means you don't have to feed the meters. however, it doesn't not include long-term parking or airport parking. if you have any questions about where your route should go, feel free to call and they will have a better idea of where to guide you. i'll send iyou. vianey, thanks. sonoma county set to roll out new wildfire evacuation plans created in large part by the deadly 2017 firestorm.

county leaders designed more effective evacuation routes focusing on communities more at risk. population density and road networks key factors. the tubbs fire destroyed 5300 homes. it killed 22 people in santa rosa. it is one of the most destructive wildfires in california history. a freak accident over the weekend. the park is in riverside. a father, mother and child were all hurt after the car malfunctioned and they were ejected. all are expected to survive. the water pump wasn't working at the bottom of the ride, putting park attendees on alert. >> it scared me. you want to make sure everyone is okay. now it's like i don't want them to do that right now. >> safety is their top priority in finding out what went wrong. many people wondering why

horses are still racing. this is the third death in nine days, the 26th to die since december. some experts blaming the rainy weather for creating dangerous trackndions. the horse deaths continue regularly. new this morning, immigrant families and children are being quarantined in san diego hotels. an outbreak of the flu is causing concern. 32 people had flu-like symptoms this week. one migrant is in the hospital. ten families are being cared for by public health nurses in hotels. massachusetts senator elizabeth warren will be here friday. she will be at a townhall in oakland. meanwhile, bernie sanders will be in san jose saturday speaking at a rally at arena green east. california senator harris plans

and welcome back to you on this monday and memorial day. we take a live look outside. obviously traffic is not going to be much of a factor for you. an east bay woman says a new dishwasher flooded part of her house. she asked our consumer investigator to the mess. >> artis and ralph bought a dishwasher back in august. they hired a crew from best buy to install it for them. a month later, the couple found water damage in the kitchen. they say it was coming from the dishwasher was because it was leaking. it was soaking the floors, the walls, and the base cabinets. they tell us they spent months going back and forth with the manufacturer and the installers. we contacted everyone involved including the retailer. a few weeks later best buy's
