the suspects crashed on highway 4. there was a crash drawer and coins. officers put a lookout and picked up the chase in lafayette. they took three male juvenile suspects into custody. now we don't know whether or not the suspects or any of the crash victims were injured. but of course this is still a very open ongoing investigation. as we get more details, we'll bring them to you. live in lafayette, roz plater for "today in the bay". 6:32. it is hope striking teachers will be back at the bargaining table following a long day of negotiations that ended with no deal and a lot of questions. today marks one week since teachers in union city and hayward went on strike. teachers are starting to feel the frustration. district leaders abruptly walked out of talks.

there are 11,000 students who need to go back to school. we need to be back in the classroom. the fact that they're not moving or budging and offering the same exact thing they have been offering all along is just unacceptable. >> the district maintains giving in to teachers' demands would jeopardize student programs. a controversial raid by the san francisco police department. chief bill scott facing calls to resign after police raided a freelance journalist's home friday. they say the raid may have violated the law. they called for an investigation into the action. yesterday the police commission released a statement calling the chief a leader with high integrity. but the police officer's union is calling for him to resign. bart police will soon be equipped with a new weapon that may save lives. all officers will soon be carrying narcan. it is that nasal spray that limits impact when someone is overdosing on opioids. sfpd has been carrying it since 2015. all bart officers are trained to

administer it. according to sf weekly, bart had previously been resistant to the idea citing concerns about training, logistics and potential risks. a transient is in custody after officers found a home made pipe bomb in his possession. that's what you see there. it started yesterday as a loitering report. the bomb squad had to be called to remove that device. they found a suspect in possession of a stun gun, drugs and burglary tools. they say the suspect is wanted in connection with a separate felony. happening today, bay area memorial day events to remember america's fallen military heroes. the 151st flag raising and parade at the presidio. that will start at 9:45. uss hornet memorial tribute at 11 a.m. as does the ceremony at golden gate in san bruno.

a water pump wasn't working and that put attendees on alert. we are monitoring that situation and will bring you updates as we have them. in other news, we're learning this morning about a northern california man that was killed in a shark attack over the weekend. we'll have more on that. he's from sacramento area. tragically he died on the family's vacation. many people are wondering why horses are still racing at a southern california racetrack after the death of another horse yesterday morning. this is the third death in nine days at santa anita and the 26th to die since december. some experts are blaming the rainy weather for creating dangerous track conditions. new reforms were put in place earlier this month but the horses' deaths continue. the president is not ready to make a trade deal with china. they are in a tense standoff over trade. trump will meet with his chinese counterpart next month at a g20
