expansion plan. santa clara county wants assurance that the university will not build into the foothills behind campus. even though stanford has no such plans, the county wants it noted. stanford is proposing 3 million square feet of development by the year 2035 which includes student housing and academic facilities. the county's planning commission will next discuss the expansion thursday. new this morning, the oakland zoo is saying it sends 11 bison to the blackfeet nation where they will indeed roam free. since last year the animals have been living in the new california trail exhibit. an event will be held when they arrive this week, including blessing and prayer ceremonies. all right. 4:36. coming up on "today in the bay",

satellite and s dry and warm. but we're tracking a short wave seeing possible some mountain rain, mountain showers and thunderstorms for the north bay mountains and east bay hills. it should be interesting to monitor as we head into tomorrow and the rest of the workweek ahead. microclimate highs for today, 77 in east san jose. 80, wall creek. danville, 81. oakland, a high of 70 today. notice how the temperatures are warmer in some spots. redwood city, 74. a combination of sun and clouds for san francisco. hitting those mid-70s, mid-80s in through the north bay area. so if you're heading out to novato, expect a high of 78 degree about. we're going to have a system that drops down. that will spark the chance of possibly seeing thunderstorms in

the north bay and east bay hills. we have a good weekend to look forward to. mid and upper 80s towards the weekend. mike, how are the we have a pro. a traffic alert right now just happened as you were making your report. we got word of this on the bay bridge. the flashing lights on the incline where three of your five lanes are blocked towards treasure island. we have traffic jammed up the incline. it will start building at the toll plaza. this is half an hour than we typically see any problems at the approach. we'll track it. so far the maze and contra costa moving smoothly. head south towards the san mateo bridge. if you are trying to decide this morning, avoid the bay bridge. the rest of the bay moving smoothly. westbound across the bay

alternate routes, it's tough if you're stuck. >> definitely. the good news it's early for a lot of commuters who can get around this. the human factor, what we are very concerned about, back out to the traffic maps. they are showing you the bay bridge toll plaza with a very early backup. folks will want to avoid this by going north or south because the richmond-san rafael and san mateo bridges are moving smoothly. along this span, we have seen this developing all the way up the incline there. just before you get to the top, making your bend over to treasure island, we have three of five lanes blocked. the reports i have initially is there is a box truck that's overturned. someone is reported stuck inside the truck. i was imagining a wedged door. as crews arrive on scene, it perhaps some of the worst as i ever have to report, perhaps the death of someone. that may be going on at the scene right now. i'm going to hedge that. i hope we will get better news
