>> we begin with the homophobic slur. jean elle is live for us. >> reporter: the man assaulted two men here on howard street, it happens at the spirit house early sunday morning. a group of 10 or 12 people attended the state democratic convention gathered here. two men from the group were outside. a man on the street called them a homo phobic slur. the young democrat says the victims and other members of the group did not expect members of attacked in san francisco. they are not feeling safe. >> they're in the city of san

comments, he has not yet called back. i am damian trujillo, nbc bay area. school is almost out, hundreds of teachers are still on strike in the east bay. another hour's long negotiation sessions today. still no deal. teachers have been on the line since may 20th. a teacher in oakland joined in the fight. oakland teachers went on strike earlier this year. they say new haven has more money than oakland did. >> there is no urgency by the school districts and there is no of e strike.during the four and they understood the urgency to settle the strike and get the kids back into school. the school board here is out to lunch. >> the district maintains it made a fair offer and any large increase will be cut to key services. time is of the essence, the last day of school is next thursday.

a rural road was crowded today filled with hundreds of animal well nfare activists. they were protesting a duck farm. a lot of people, they targeted the right car, duck farm, the group called direct action everywhere. live stream, they claim the farm is treating ducks inhumanely. some members chain themselves together at the main gate. 98 people were arrested fortress passing. a spokesperson at the sheriff's office tells us, the farm was investigated after similar to ag experience is officially on. the golden state warriors announced their plan for the plaza they are building around their new billion dollar chase arena in san francisco. we'll see some of the area's most famous chefs. construction boots today to get an exclusive up close tour from

a humpback back whale continues to draw big crowd. researchers believe it is a female. she's fully grown and malnourished and suffering from some kind of illness. this comes after a rash of gray whales have washed ashore in the recent month. we try to get more answers on what may be wrong and why she's here. >> reporter: you get the best view of the humpback whale here. dozens of people come here to catch the water line of the she's an adult but under sized because she's so skinny. >> you can see she does not have the normal fat blubber layer at this time of the year.

nbc bay area responds to woman whose sofa is not sitting right. >> shesk chr if she can furnish the situation, chris chmura. >> cindy wong bough a couch and paid extra for a five-year plan. sunny noticed she started the see fabric on the sofa that did not looked right. it is tough to see but she sees the problem here and she wanted help. she turns to bassett asking for repairs but said she got the run around. no one came to her home to look at the problem she sees right here. that's when sunny turned to us. a furniture tech visited sunny and diagnosed the issue.
