of the royal family at the winfield house, the home of the u.s. ambassador here. >> so much going on there. thanks so much, jay. of course we're going to carry the press conference with president trump and prime minister right here on nbc bay area. we are expecting that to start in about 45 minutes at 5:45 a deadly shooting near an east bay rec center. shots were fired right around 11:00 in the evening on 22nd avenue in oakland. it is right next to the rec center and just a few blocks away from highland hospital. one person was shot and killed there. that person has not yet been identified. so far police have not made an arrest. also happening today, san francisco leaders are expected to vote on a financial payout to the mother of a man killed in a high profile police shooting. four years ago, police shot and killed mario woods, who stabbed someone and was armed

with a knife. supervisors today will decide on approving a $400,000 settlement. in this case the officers's response to a risky situation was consistent with their training and in accordance with the law. this settlement allows us to reach a resolution without the need for a trial. 5:05 right now. haywood leaders will consider the wake of a controversial deadly shooting. it would require an independent third party to review police shooting in addition to police and d.a. investigations. this is being considered in part after the death of augustine gonzalez. police were cleared of wrongdoing. critics say officers opened fire less than 10 seconds after confronting them. and he was armed only with a razor blade. >> protesters are expected to gather outside during an animal

rights protest. critics believe they are treating ducks in humanely. people chained themselves together at the main gate. a spokesperson with the sheriff's department said the farm was investigated five years ago after similar allegations but that the farm was found to be treating its animals humanely. >> they are notorious for making he allegations against every chicken farm. we did an investigation in 2014 and found no violations at all. >> they are people just like we are. they just look different. they speak a different language. but certainly they love their families. they want to live and be happy. >> at last check, dozens are still in jail charged with a conspiracy to commit a crime, which is a felony. it is 5:04 right now. new this morning, san francisco

supervisors could vote on a new bike lane proposal. it comes following mayor breed's call to build 20 miles of protected bike lanes in the city in the next few years. in march, a cyclist died in a crash on howard street leading two protests demanding new lanes. an update from pg&e on its efforts to boost wildfire preparedness. they plan to install 400 new weather monitoring stations, bringing it to 600 devices to forecast weather conditions in more than 30 counties. they are hoping to have 1300 monitors by the year 2022. also, pg&e expects to install 100 hd cameras in some of the highest risk cameras. new details about an ongoing push to keep the curtain from falling a long time comedy club in san francisco.

warmer than normal. that's a look at dublin. if you're on your way to the dublin bart station, you may still need a light jacket. later on today, it will heat up fast. you will try to find somewhere to put the jacket. it will be in the upper 80s as we go into the rest of the afternoon. if you're looking for something free to do with the kids or you'll be out in san francisco, the conservatory of flowers will have a free admission day at golden gate park. something nice to do. it will be cooler there with lower 60s and mostly sunny skies all throughout the day. and then also as you make your way out the door this morning in san jose, heading to diridon station, we will see the temperatures in the upper 50s. and then we see the very quickly temperatures climbing going throughout the day. 81 degrees at noon. eventually reaching 87 degrees today. and in concord, 93 degrees. napa, reaching 90. san francisco today a little bit warmer there. not as much in the way of clouds

and fog. low 70s. we're also going to see clear skies across the region as high pressure continues to build. that's going to keep our temperatures hot today and tomorrow. as we go into the end of the week, an area of low pressure just to our north will keep the rain away. we will see some cooler temperatures much more of an ocean breeze kicking up thursday and friday. by the weekend, it gets hot once again. make plans to go to the pool. or maybe head to the beaches where it will still stay nice and cool. temperatures go from the 90s to the 70s and then back quickly into the 90s early next week. heading over to mike, you have some good news at the bay bridge? . >> relative news that's good. bay bridge back to your typical expected tuesday build. it might be lighter than expected as the summer months kick in, summer vacations kick in. a shift in the volume of traffic at 5:20 in the morning. fastrak lanes filled. cash lanes lighter than we are

stop this from spreading. >> reporter: correct, laura. as you can see in this video of nordstrom elementary behind me in morgan hill, they brought in a number of janitors to clean, disinfect a number of mo classrooms. eight classrooms, the front office and six other rooms on campus that need to be disinfected. they called parents and sent a letter home to alert them what happened. it spreads rapidly. it causes vomiting, diarrhea. most of the 11 kids were from tk, the transitioning kindergarten class. parents we spoke with plan to keep a closer eye on their kids. >> usually the stomach bug hits you at 3:00 in the morning when your daughter runs in and says, i think i'm going to throw up! yeah, it is concerning. >> the last week of school, i definitely want her to have some fun and enjoy school. but also everybody's health matters, too.

the storm. after much heated debate the city of dublin voted down the idea of flying the rainbow flag, which is why you only see the u.s., state, and city flag flying over city buildings. a number of people protested the decision this past saturday. tonight city council will consider a new policy to provide guidance on which flags can and cannot fly over city buildings and hold a special meeting to specifically address the rainbow flag. >> i think it's fine. that's just pretty simple. >> i think it's fine. it's about time this country needs to come together with he everybody. >> last month's meeting was contentio contentious. we touched base with dublin's mayor who voted against flying the rainbow flag. he wants a city policy

establishing that first. he addressed one of the homophobic remarks made by a member of the public at last month's meeting. he says a lot of people are making a big deal about the fact that there was a little rebuke of the horrible things he mentioned at the meeting. many of these said were said by people who don't even live in dublin, but came from neighboring cities. dublin is a diverse community, and nobody should tell you otherwise. that is the comment from the mayor. over 700 people have already signed a petition demanding that the city fly the rainbow flag. >> thank you very much, sharon. meanwhile, santa clara county will gather in support of lgbtq it is one day after a flag was raised over city hall in santa clara. lafayette, concord and richmond also voted to do the same. 5:35.

one week for today, school is out for union city and hayward. all that doesn't mean much with the new haven school district in the third week of a bitter strike. both sides remain far apart in negotiations. teachers plan to attend tonight's school board meeting. mayor london breed says she supports a measure known as conservatorship. however, critics call the measure a violation of civil rights. city leaders say the number of people who could be forced into treatment is likely fewer than 50. 5:36. happening today, san francisco leaders are expected to hold a final vote on a controversial first of its kind law to ban the use of facial recognition technology. supervisors voted to ban police and other city departments from using it. the ordinance will not prevent

the federal government, businesses or individuals from using it. new this morning, san jose mayor just released his $4 billion budget plan. among the highlights, he wants the city to prioritize which city gets services based on need including projects like trash cleanup and park repairs. he is proposing what he calls an equity screen, which would rely more on data and not just on complaints that are more likely to come from more affluent neighborhoods. the giant and the a's looking at their team's futures. >> they held their first three rounds of its draft. it is not hard to see the top round pick has a lot in common with barry bonds. 21-year-old outfielder hunter bishop went to the same high school, sarah high school. and he also went to arizona state. giants drafted bishop 10th overall. and the a's drafted logan davidson, a switch-hitting

it is 5:43. concerns over a proposed spwougt bay development that could have a big impact on traffic. people in morgan hill will discuss a proposed park near cochran and 101. if approved, it would be more than a million square feet. some believe it would bring more trucks into the area, especially during construction. investigators are looking into a shooting possibly involving border patrol agents at the san ysidro outside of san diego. they failed to stop for an inspection. it is not known whether border patrol agents owed fire or was

shot at. san diego police and the atf responded to assist in the investigation, which is now ongoing. one time manson family member will not be freed from prison any time soon. a parole board decided to free her after 50 years in prison. governor newsom overruled that yesterday. she was 19 years old and other followers in the charles manson court killed a man and his wife sharon tate. governor brown twice rejected her release. governor newsom is declaring june immigrant heritage month across the state. 11 million immigrants call california home. and half of all the children in the state have one immigrant parent. mayor breed plans to officially file for re-election

looking at our seven-day forecast, we will be in the low 90s today, as well as tomorrow. on thursday and friday, we're in the 70s, which is about normal for this time of the spring. it heats up the weekend into early next week. mike, you are tracking two issues of the south bay. >> that's right. looking over here. green overall. great stuff. mild build especially for a tuesday. southbound, 101, we talked about an issue for highway 101 around bowers just before you get to great america parkway. the pole was in the roadway. it sounds like a half dozen cars with damage on the shoulder as well. it sounds like they have the pole out of the roadway. use caution south toward santa clara, san jose, sunnyvale. that is the route. meanwhile, north on 87, that's your commute direction off highway 85. we still have the crash activity affecting folks slowing down because of a distraction at the capital expressway off-ramp. watch it there as well.
