upper 90s forareas. walnut creek, up to 95. half moon bay, up to 77. palo alto, 93 degrees. a high reaching into the upper 70s and low 80s in san francisco. north bay, up to 99 in ukiah today. we'll get a closer look at this and what's ahead. mike, you are tracking something in byron. . >> we're looking at the early commute. starting back out here in contra st county, affected down at 580 at vasco. a disabled vehicle blocking your roadway. there's only two lanes there. no early commute through the walnut creek interchange. it's very light. same thing across the dublin interchange and the san mateo bridge. one disabled vehicle along the span. more details from chp. crews are clearing in palo alto. a little distraction. back to you. 4:31 right now.

you have probably seen rvs around town all around the bay area as people try to find ways to work and live here amid our housing crisis. >> ali wolf is live in mountain view with the latest look at the city looking to make solutions on this. i know the city council of mountain view just ended their meeting last night around 3:30 this morning. so do we know if they made any decisions dealing with the rvs, ali? >> reporter: well, marcus, we are still trying to see the final decision. we arrived here just after 3:30. we spoke to one man who told us he was at that meeting. they said they started talking about this issue of rv parking at mountain view here on the streets. and they started around 7:00 last night. it didn't stop until 3:30 this morning, as you said. that just gives you an idea how tricky this issue is for not just this city but cities across 9 bay area trying to grapple with what to do about a living

in rvs. a man we spoke to is a member of the mountain view tenants coalition. he joined dozens who showed up to voice their opposition to a ban on rv parking in the city. initially it was a proposed 24-hour ban on rv parking. then they started considering a ban between 2:00 and 6:00 in the morning. so a bit of a compromise. so there's also looking into a safe place -- they are also looking into a safe place for people to park their rvs. a designated lot where people could park overnight where they wouldn't be ticte forced of things being discussed on this issue. this is the man we spoke to, his reaction after coming out of the meeting seven or eight hours later. >> all the council members seemed like they tried to work things out. approximate you in the end, it just felt like it was really

rushed, pushed to pass a ban without really looking at the impact on the community. >> reporter: and that man tells us there were about 80 people that came to speak. city council did allow a lot of people to voice their concernss other cities like berkeley, which banned a partial overnight ban on rvs and palo alto talked about providing a safe parking area as well. issues across the bay area with housing being so expensive. we'll give you more updates a little bit later on. ali wolf for "today in the bay". it is telling that the meeting ended at 3:30 in the morning. a lot of people want to have a say about that. >> sheriff's deputies in the south bay are investigating an overnight shooting in the park and ride. the fire broke out late last t o highway 17 right off summit road exit. this is new video showing officers canvassing the scene. they found one shell casing on

the ground. it is not clear yet if anybody was hurt or if the deputies arrested anyone. our newsroom is reaching out to the santa clara county sheriff's office to find out more. we're hoping to get an update from san leandro police on a deadly officer-involved shooting. this happened at 4:00 p.m. on martin boulevard east of 880. investigators say someone called 9 11 to report that a man was in the street with a machete exposing himself to children. officers opened fire after they say he refused to drop the weapon. they say they believe he was drawing a gun, which they later determined was not actually a gun. >> the object that the subject had produced was simil color, a handgun, although it wasow the o was killed. breaking news where drama is playing out on the streets of hong kong. some of those demonstrations there have turned violent.

and we are looking at live pictures in the newsroom and making sure they are clear for tv. we have seen images of police firing tear gas there. there are reports of authorities firing rubber bullets. the demonstrators there oppose an extradition bill that would send any suspect from hong kong to mainland china for prosecution. this is the image right now. it is about 8:00 at night. things seem to have calmed down. and there are fewer people. considering this was an all-day protest, there are still a lot of folks. now we see them. they are on the move. as we mentioned, we did see police firing at least rubber bullets and we see smoke there in the distance. this is happening in hong kong where earlier in the day the government until later this month. a lot of folks still out on the reetprotesting the would send anybody who is suspected of a crime in hong kong to mainland china. a lot of folks in hong kong, human rights activists say they

fear this could tamp down on the democracy movement there. 4:37 for you right now. in contra costa county, ntsb investigators are trying to determine the cause of the deadly small plane crash sunday in antioch. recovery crews find the pilot's body on monday. is n um from berkeley. his plane went down shortly after taking off from pwabuchan field. the wreckage has not been recovered because it is in a remote spot. also in antioch, leaders agreeing to recognize june as pride month. this is them raising the flag shortly after the vote.he vote . they have the vote after a coming up on

headquarters. wall street looks set to open in the red today. the markets failing to hold onto early gains yesterday. the nasdaq fell for the first time in five days. on today's watch list, consumer price in tkebgdeindex. elon musk said sales of the model 3 have outpaced rivals and tesla has a decent shot at a record quarter. he said the model y suv will likely go into production next year. and they could show off an electric prototype of a pickup truck this summer. a number of americans said their parents never talked t they nev were taught primarily about savings. the report says that sons are more likely to learn aboutle dan more about giving. marcus and kris? >> hmm. maybe we should teach everybody about everything.

76 degrees is our normal high temperature. it's in san jose. 78 in brentwood. it is 66 in napa. normally we're starting out at 50 to 55 degrees. so this is definitely a big warmup. and it just feels so weird outside, doesn't it? and so about her looking at the temperatures already warmer than we were yesterday. and the warmup will happen stil station, expect upper '60s to, s and then reaching into the 80s today. and it's still going to be hot. so if you can, if you're out for summer break, make it a pool day or head to the beach. if not, if you have to get out there, something lightweight, light colored and something that breathes easily will help keep you cool. looking at our temperatures today, still reaching into the 90s. and we still will be on track to see a few more of those records set today. but notice that in san francisco, we are expecting some slight cooling there.

it will still reach into the upper 70s and low 80s. half moon bay up to 77. palo alto, 93 degrees. so our winds that will help cool you also off won't make it that far inland. so we are looking at a very weak ocean breeze. look at the wind speeds. 3 miles per hour. so that will do nothing to help us out in the valleys today. it does start to pick up this evening. by then it will be too late. it will already be hot. at least we are seeing changes in terms of our weather pattern that will bring the temperatures down the next few days. 96 inland. 87 tomorrow. 80s in the rest of the forecast. notice, though, early next week it starts to get hot again. we will see high pressure building. that is going to give us another round of some high heat.g t roa. >> looking at the san mateo bridge. the camera was turned in the middle of the night.

looking out our window over palo alto this morning. if you head out the door, you will find it is still warm, although we will not hit triple digits as we did yesterday. tkaer said might not even notice the ng, though. we'll take it. nbc bay area respo t jose man who faced a recurring mechanical issue with his car. good morning. jerry rhodes said he faced a rocky road wh t suspension on his jeep. the compressor that smooths out the ride malfunctioned five different times. jeep swapped the problem part for free five different times. but on his sixth visit, jerry said he was quoted close to $3,000 to replace it. jerry felt that was unfair for a part he feels has proven itself defective. so he asked us to intervene. we contacted jeep's
