an officer killed in the line of duty overnight. >> we're learning about her local ties to the bay area. chris, wh kris, what do we know so far. >> she was trying to help a mother and a child or children in a domestic situation. a man in the home shot the officer with a rifle. sacramento police says as other officers tried to reach officer o'sullivan where she fell outside the home, that suspect continued to fire. >> i am sad to share with you tonight. officer tarra christina o'sullivan died at the hospital. she was shot and killed and gave her young life while protecting our community.

halfway through counting the votes who had until 10:00 last night to give their thumbs up or thumbs down with the new contracted with the transit agency. the union that represents the operators and mechanics have been in negotiations with the vta. some of the sticking points have been wages, operational efficiencies. this is what they are looking on, it's the vta that calls it the best offer, and they would get an increase over three years, and then if the union were to vote down this offer the workers could then go on strike, and the vta says the state could implement a cooling period and

a very good morning to you. we're hoping for nice temperatures. check that forecast coming up. >> look at that. pg & e, they are taking drastic -- oh, okay, we will get to that in just a bit. we want to talk about the forecast. >> okay. we are seeing clouds starting out this morning and we are going to see cooler temperatures today and it's going to be a nice one. this is what you are feeling right now as you are getting ready to step out the door and you will see the temperatures in the 50s in fairfield and san francisco, 58. cupertino, 60 degrees to start out. we will see a few more clouds, but as we go throughout the day the skies will clear and we will have a slower warmup. we're going to see the highs right where we should see them

for this time as we go to the last full day of spring. it will reach up to 76 in san jose. 78 in cupertino, and 79 today in milpitas. it's going to be a nice change compared to the high heat we had starting out this week. the fog may still m ln bay, and so w geng to see much sun in san mateo reaching 69 degrees with san francisco also seeing a lot of clouds throughout the day and a brisk westerly wind. the north bay seeing the temperatures in the mid-70s. and the alameda county fair, it will be cooler this afternoon in the upper 70s for much of the day and then dropping back quickly into the 60s. we have a brisk onshore wind flow, and so as we go throughout the day our winds will pick up

and get more gusty tonight. it's going to have an impact on the wind direction that we will see. going into friday, we start to see the winds shifting northerly and then offshore on saturday. it's going to make it heat up in time for the weekend. this is the 7-day forecast showing 80s today and low 90s over the next couple of days as we go into saturday and sunday. big warmup in our temperatures, gusty winds, but check out the middle of next week. it's going to cool down once again. i will have more on that, and, mike, you were checking out the roads this morning. how's it looking? >> 580 coming through dublin, no slowing or problems. the only thing is the construction, the repair work, 580 near keller, i see a little
