"early today" starts right now good morning i'm marlie hall. >> and i'm frances rivera. we are following yet another round of severe weather this morning. multiple sightings like this one of a massive tornado hitting south bend, indiana, overnight thousands of residents in the state lost electricity the powerful storm left behind major damage this day care center was almost completely destroyed fortunately there have not been any reports of injury. >> meanwhile, areas of kansas were hit by hail measuring over 2 inches across. this video shows the intense moments when the hail storm was battering the town of ellsworth. storms also brought torrential rain to states that have already faced severe flooding this year. for more on this we go to nbc's morgan chesky.ergency in southw missouri, following dasz of pounding rain the water is rising pounding roads and threatening homes.

$14 million in its premiere. alladin took third with more than $12 million >> growing health concerns this morning just outside of pittsburgh after another alarming episode at a massive u.s. steel plant a fire knocked out a pollution control system in an area where the air quality is already among the worst in the nation. nbc's ann thompson has more. >> reporter: with already some of the worst air quality in the country, growing concerns in claire ton, pennsylvania, about what is coming out of this u.s. steel plant. >> there was a burning rubber taste in the back of my mouth. >> reporter: last week for the second time in six months, fire knocked out pollution controls at the century's old coat plant where it makes steel some neighbors say it's making them sick. >> i'm nauseous. >> sometimes i feel like i'm going to faint >> reporter: in december when it destroyed the controls, a respiratory irritants were
