south bay. today is looking like 85. we'll talk about the cooling changes ahead. you're starting out with a tough spot. >> it was starting there and now i discovered a better spot to clear after you change your flat tire. it happened in the last few minutes. they both cleared westbound. that's better than r your commute directions. no problem in either direction. the freeways are looking good. i know you have one spot in san jose. that's our breaking news. >> one person dead after an overnight standoff. >> we are live at the scene. with umpbs you just found out the standoff came to an end a few minutes ago? >> yes, there's still heavy

police presence out here. we're close to center road and center fapharmacy just to give u perspective of where we are. the home is is about a block away from here. here's dramatic video of what happened overnight. you can hear the flash bang and ollootd a tense that block. suffering from gunshot wounds. one person later died at the hospital. we're hearing s.w.a.t. members negotiated with the suspect inside, but as you saw, there was a flash bang and gunshots. and the situation is now over. we're waiting to confirm all this with the public information officer.

a new day, another threat of more wildfires for the bay area. >> overnight firefighters worked to get control of a brush fire. this is ove p tir homes? >> they are allowed back. they are keeping a unit up just as a precaution. they want to make sure someone is there to protect the homes. this fire sparked around 10:00 last night. it was long after sunset just a after sunset after an extremely hot day. it was two alarms. it burned through 12 firefighte were dealing with last night further north of antioch.

this is another brush fire. the challenge for the fire department there. it was a thick, dry marsh which made access difficult. they were able to protect them. and this is video south of brentwood. in what was a dangerous situation early yesterday morning. firefighters battled a 40 acre brush fire. it started just after 1:00. reporting live, bob redell, today in the bay. >> thank you, bob. 4:34. a large fire causing a a lot of concerns. >>e' busy highway 4. some people were prepared to evacuate mary ann found out it started at a homeless encampment.

>> reporter: with high winds fanning inflammations and thick smoke rising into the sky, crews battled this intense fire from many directions. mary lives nearby and kept her eyes trained on the smoke. >> it looked like oil smoke. it was really thick and kept billowing. >> reporter: the fire grew to three alarms with 100 firefighters responding. that's when she started preparing toevacuate gathering up belongings. sfwh my important documents that are irreplaceable. >> reporter: firefighters say the fire started in a homeless encampment around 2:30 and quickly spread to a supply company. >> we had an intense fire in a confine d area. it's bound on one side by highway 4, which limited our access from the north. >> reporter: the thick smoke poured over highway 4 slowing

traffic. flames spread to the dry grass. firefighters used a dozer to es from reaching nearby fl businesses. the strategy paid off and they knocked town the fire. she is relieved firefighters gained the upper hand so she could return tohome. happening today the man charged with shooting and killing a police officer is expected in court. he's expected to enter a plea that he was guilty. the 26-year-old and other officers were responding to a domestic violence call. that's when officers casay he ce into the home. it took officers 45 minutes to get to her because he kept firing. he vend rerred. no one else was hurt. last night family, friends and colleagues were at a vigil in

good morning, here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set to open up with modest gains. stocks slipping, but the markets were still higher for a third straight week. the dow is on pace for its best june since 1938. on the watch list for the week, reports on home prices and first quarter gdp. and president trump is meeting with the chinese president president at the gl g-20 summit in japan.

prices at the pump are falling. the national average has dropped 11 cents in the past two weeks. it's now $2.73 a gallon. it's low er than at this time last year. that's mainly due to lower oil prices. crude has picked up amid-rising tensions. in the bay area, gas is averaging $3.86 a gallon. you can order from 7-eleven and have it delivered. the chain will have more than 2,000 hot spots working today in locations like central park and new york and ven nis beach in l.a. there's no minimum order. delivery costs $3.99. back b to you. >> thank you. 4:42. continue to follow breaking news. this is what it sounded like as police were trying to get a suspect out of the home. this happened on the east side

a very good morning to. f up in a the sea?sun'sday an adventure from the 55 miles in a floating hot tub. you put the tub on a raft and went across the sea from finland to astonia. the trip took 10 hours and 20 minutes. there was two engines and had had solar panels. he cruised along pirate style

start to the day to enjoy time outside. let's go hour by hour for the whole bay area as we check out our time line going through 10:00 this morning. we're starting to see some mid-70s in the inland areas and we're going to go from mid-70s to the mid-80s in the trivalley. antioch at 12. 83 degrees. then we'll see some upper 60s for the coast and in san francisco. north bay looking at some low 80s by early afternoon. and that's where we'll stay. we'll heat up a few more degrees in the east bay as well as the delta. but that's still a little cooler than yesterday. so we're going to have the cooling changes in effect throughout the week. an area of low pressure, weak storm system passing by the pacific northwest will give us an ocean brooez. the wind flow will be slow to move. so tlout the week, we're going to have a very nice week ahead. and we're going to bring it down

in some spots cooler than normal for this time for the first week of summer. we're going to reach into the 80s inland. but look at what's ahead for the rest of the week. they can turn the air-conditioning off and leave it off for several days. even next weekend still looks comfortable with highs in the 70s in the va 60s as the fog returns. we're starting out with what's happening in the north bay. >> we're sewing a clear drive for south 101. a little farther south. there may be a quick traffic stop but no injuries to drivers. but we saw some of the fog in the area, just a note there. possible slow iing there. over here out of oakland, we saw this backing up over the last ten minutes. really filling in. but we have the customary on
