>> thank you for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. let's get a look at what we can expect today. >> it was such a hot weekend. so it's nice to know we will have some relief heading through the week. it's looking good. a few of the clouds will be rolling by as we go thus the morning, but the clouds will keep it from heating up really fast. we'll still be in the 70s by 11:00. as we check out our south bay temperatures, reaching to the low 80s today. even upper 80s. we'll get a look at our microclimates coming up. you spotted something. >> just as you were taking that shot, we'll notice to the northbound side all but the one car remains. one vehicle on the shoulder. i was going to spot a disabled vehicle. it looked hike the commute had held up. it was just outside of our view. crews on the move. one car is not. we'll track both of those

issues. the traffic braking because of construction in the area. a couple minor issues on the shoulders for 580 and dublin. and a smooth drive towards the bay bridge. you have a surface street issue, but more than that in the south bay. >> that's breaking news we start with this morning. four people and a a suspect are dead after a tense standoff in san jose. we brought you an update 15 minutes ago. >> let's bring in south carolina sharon. >> reporter: this is developing as we speak. investigators are nearby interviewing witnesses right now. and lieutenants here came out and told us that two suspects, one suspect and two victims are dead inside the home. this is about a block away from

here. you can hear the flash bang and shots that followed a tense standoff that started at 8:30 last night. this happened off center road. plis responded to calls of shots fire d in the area and saw two people walking out of the home suffering from gunshot wounds. police say several others escaped. two people died at the hospital. we're hearing s.w.a.t. members negotiated with the suspect inside the home, but there was a flash bang and gunshots. we are hoping to get more information on the motive of the suspect in this shooting. we're told that evacuated neighbors who had to leave their homes during the tense standoff are at a a nearby community

center and about to be fed breakfast. this is all developing a as we speak. >> thank you for the update. today the u.s. plans to announce more economic sanctions against iran. this is just days after calling off what could be a deadly airstrike. >> there's growing concern around the world about this escalating tension between the u.s. and iran. we have now got president trump speaking out to nbc about it and the u.n. security council meeting today trying to figure out if they will join this economic pressure campaign and try to avoid war. >> i'm not looking for war.

>> if you want to talk about it good, otherwise you can live in a shattered economy for a long time to come. >> let's give you a brief update. president trump doesn't want war. but he is sending secretary of state mike pompeo to that region. he's there now to try to see if we can get other allies in the region to back us on a new round of sanctions that the money strags plans to roll out or at least announce today. that's one thing. the secretary of state already in the region. the u.n. security council trying to figure out where they fit in here. and this is all happening as iran announces they have already got enough enriched uranium or will to exceed what they are

allowed in the nuclear agreement and that's the real concern here preventing them from using that to develop a nuclear weapon. >> thank you. 5:04 right now. san jose's police chief address ing the growing concern about the president's planned immigration sweeps. the president is delaying that operation for two weeks after requests that nancy pelosi has leaders trying to calm fears. >> the message has been that we are here to protect our otherwise law-abiding immigrants documented or not. but that we're not here nor should we be shielding violent or serious criminals. that was our message. >> we're one nation and we're one city. and we'll do whatever we can to support them regardless of their immigration status. >> the supervisors recently voted not cooperating with i.c.e. when it comes to

notifying authority about immigrantings with a history of violent crimes. the issue came up after a woman was kilned earlier this year. the county will stick with its sanctuary policy. another baseball fan is hit by a foul ball during a major league baseball game. this time in l.a. this morning the incident is shining a light on the issue of fan safety at games. and if ballparks are doing enough to keep fans safe. >> good morning, we reached out to the giants and oakland a's to see if they plan to address this issue. in fact, we'll talk about the details of the latest foul ball incident. this started between the dodgers and the rockies. a fan was hit in the head from l.a. dodgers star cody bellinger

during the first inning. she was sitting four rows from the first base line. here's fphotos of the after she was hit. she appeared to be okay after being treated, but there have been a series of such incidents as of late. just last year a 79-year-old woman was hit by a foul ball and dodgers stadium died in a hospital a few days later. and a month ago a girl was hit by a line drive. here's what bellinger had to say about the incident and if the league should do something about the issue. >> they don't have enough reaction time. they have to be ready. maybe protect people in the first row. that's a scary situation.

no one was hurt here, but plenty cars, as you can imagine, were damaged. finally, check out this lightning show in dallas. that storm did damage transmission lines in north texas area. also cause iing some delays in h the airports in dallas. certainly amazing to look at. >> 5:09 right now. the big cluster fest comedy festival was anything but smooth. many fans aren't laughing because most time they spent in long lines. >> the trouble stems from fans not leaving venues when their time was up. that created a backlog for the next group of ticketholders. cluster fest landed several big names including amy poehler. the festival also meticulously recreated comedy shows like "seinfeld" and "the office." fans found it hard to get into the tents because of the long

start in walnut creek as you get ready to head out the door, we're in for another warm day. we're going to bring it down a few more degrees and will feel better than it did yesterday at noon. we're at 81 degrees. we'll talk about how warm we get inland and the cooling at the coast. our wide range of temperatures coming up in less than five minutes. after that flat tire was fixed and cleared, it's smooth for the last half hour. the build up for the bay area. good morning. happy monday. there's some negative numbers here on the board. but these are from friday and they don't tell the true tale of the stock market. this actually doing very well overall. a judge says a lawsuit against facebook can go forward. a lawsuit over botching user privacy. the latest high-tech company to go public slack has underp.ed.

>> there's a lot of questions there. i don't know. she wanted to stay. >> you want to stay in the bay area today, it's going to be nice. >> it's going to be nicer. but it's still going to be warm in some of the inland areas today. but we are going to make some progress through the week. that's a live look outside in san jose. starting out with some hazy skies. and we're going to see our skies clearing as we go into the day. in pleasant hill, if it you're on your way out the door to the bart station, going to be in the upper 50s. maybe some long sleeves needed to start and then the rest of the day is still going to be warm. we're at 81 degrees at noon. so short sleeves. you'll be peeling off the layers in the inland areas as we reach into the low 90s. we'll have a high of 91, but not the widespread 90s that we saw

over the weekend. so in liver moore, we're up to 88 degrees. and 86 in concorde. oakland today expect a high of 72. we're up to 67 in san francisco. and in san jose, reaching 85. we have some cooling changes ahead as we go through the week. there's a storm system passing just to the north, and the high pressure is backing off. so what's going to happen is the winds going to round that low pressure and will give us a a wind flow with some natural air-conditioning. we have some breezy skbinds it's going to cool us off towards the middle to the end of the week. look at these numbers here. the inland valleys in the mid- to upper 80s. then we're in the loer 80s tomorrow. then low 70s for thursday. and it's still looks nice for the weekend. a little cooler than normal reaching into the upper 70s for your saturday. you're tracking a new crash. >> 680 that's a a critical spot.

new video to show you this morning showing the inside of the sky diving plane that crashed this hawaii on friday. now this video is from 2016 when the plane was flying over eastern county. the twin engine plane stalled three times and spun repeatedly as terrified sky divers rushed to open the door to try to jump out. here's more video. the ntsb says part of the investigation will be looking into repairs made after that 2016 incident. after the tail spin the pilot managed to regain control and landed safely. none of the sky divers were hurt. just certainly shaken up when they reached the ground. friday's crash in oahu involved the same plane. all 11 people on board died. the plane flipped over twice before plunging nose first into

the ground. in an out of control hot air balloon knocked people to the ground at a festival in missouri. this was all caught on video. this all happened saturday when that balloon try ied to land in windy conditions. several people knocked to the ground by that large basket. the little girl suffered minor injuries. one woman cut her hand, but no one was seriously injured. if you're a rolling stones fan, here's video proving mcjagger is back from his recent heart ailment. he was take iing the stage at t start of the concert on their tour in chicago. definitely still got his moves like jagger. the stones postponed their tour when he had heart surgery. the rolling stones play let vle

station, it's in the low 60s. then the rest of the morning, a pretty quick warm-up. we'll be be at 82 at noon. we'll talk about some cooling temperatures. you're seeing some slowing through the east bay. >> we start with the slowing at the toll plaza. about 5:20, we should have the metering lights on and we to. so the build right there out of the maize. it's slow off the curve. we're getting a good amount of traffic down the area. freeways are moving nicely. but right now you're taking the bilge look at overnight news. >> the breaking news, four people and a suspect are dead after a tense standoff in san jose. it's a story that's still developing. >> she's been gathering information all morning long. anything new from investigators?

>> reporter: with daylight you can see better the scene here. we're a lot closer to the crime scene. two people and the suspect are dead inside the home. you can hear the flash bang and shots that followed a tense standoff that started about 8:30 last night. this started on the 500 block. police responded to calls of shots fired in the area. and they saw two people walking out of the home suffering from gunshot wounds. police say several others et escaped. two people died at the hospital. we're hearing that s.w.a.t. members negotiated with those inside the home. we just showed you the video, there's a flash bang and then gunshots. the situation is now over. we are hearing that there are

people being interviewed by investigators nearby. and those who had to evacuate are being fed breakfast this morning. reporting live, today in the bay. >> we'll continue to check back with you. 5:34 right now. we're finding out a brush fire overnight in the foothills was deliberately set. fire investigators just gave us new information. bob redell is live at the scene. this could have been a really bad situation. >> correct. we're talking about a fire that burned here in the fremont foothills. we're standing not far from michigan boulevard. we have heard from the fremont fire department this fire is suspicious. they believe it was arson, possibly set during some sort of altercation. there's still a unit up there in the hills. they want to make sure there's

somebody up there to protect the homes. this fire sparked around 10:00 last night. it was a little bit not long after sunset after an extremely hot day. it was two alarms included fremont and cal fire. it turned through 12 to 15 acres. authorities did evacuate residents initially. fire was knocked down by 1:30 this morning. there were no reports of anywheinjuries or damage to any structures. and this is what firefighters were dealing with last night on bethel island. it was another brush fire. this was near the suns set marina. the challenge for the fire department there, the fire was burning through thick, try m marsh, which made access very difficult. they were able to keep it contained and protect the boats parked in dry storage nearby. this is video from south of brentwood. it was a dangerous situation. this was early yesterday

morning. firefighters bat theed a nearly 40 acre brush fire. this brush fire here between 12 to 15 acres. police are involved to catch whoever it was that started this. reporting live, bob redell, today in the bay. >> let's hope they catch them. thank you. 5:36 right now. this morning there's extensive fire damage in a roofing company in pittsburgh. it's battling a lot of nerve. investigators say it started in a homeless encamp mement. it took firefighters a about two hours to put out the fire in several spots nearby. the wind made the job especially tough. some neighbors started packing up their essentials and ready for evacuate. >> grab my personal items just

in case. >> one firefighter was taken to the hospital with injuries, but the good news is he's been discharged and said to be doing fine. happening today the man charged with shooting and killing a rookie police officer is expected in court. he's expected to enter a plea. the 26-year-old were responding to a domestic violence call. that's when officers say ramos came into the home, started firing. sullivan struck and went down in the backyard. it took officers 45 minutes to get to her because ramos kept firing. no one else was hurt. last night family, friends and colleagues held a a vigil in honor of the fallen officer. sullivan grew up. new this morning, a floating

device used to catch plastic in the pacific ocean relaunches. this marks the second attempt to clean up waters between california and hawaii. the ferry polluted part of the pacific. the device is expected to trap some of the 1.8 trillion pieces of plastic in the path. late last year the device had had to be repaired after starting clean up off the coast of san francisco. 5:38 right now. mike has a look at the morning commute. are we easing into monday? >> we are easing into monday as usual. some people say it's nice. some people in it don't have the same words we do. over here we're looking at the south bay. just the crash in fremont, we're still tracking it. it doesn't appear to be causing any slowing. now as we move up, the commute is actually southbound. so it shouldn't be affected by the crash either. we are seeing 230 showing

slowing. there's a crash off that interchange. but as more cars come through any distraction will cause more brakes and that looks like that's what's going on. through trooif approaching the bay bridge, 19 minutes to the backup. and that's usually the case right now. >> it is 5:39. and we're looking forward to the weekend. >> it was a hot weekend. we had some cooler weather. and even today we're going to bring it down a a few degrees and much more by the middle of the week. we're going to see that hold into saturday and sunday with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s inland and san francisco. so there you might want to head inland to get more sunshine. if you're going to napa valley, 90s.

cool off over the next few days. so a hot weekend. today the better day to get to the park. especially in foster city. we start out with a cool morning. and it's going to be in the upper 50s. but then as we go through the rest of the day, reaching the mid-70s for late morning and early afternoon. we're still going to keep the clouds, but some clearing in the south bay. sunny skies reaching 89 in morgan hill. we have some warm weather in the inland parts of the east bay. one spot reaching 90 degrees still. and upper 80s in danville and walnut creek. upper 70s in san mateo. mostly staying in the 60s and some gusty winds kicking up there. some of that cools off the north bay to the 80s today but still 91. we have kooming changes ahead

for the week. this area of low pressure that's moving across the pacific northwest will bring them some rain. and then the winds around that bring us a stronger wind flow and the coolest day will actually be on thursday. we're going to see soom of our inland areas reaching to the lower 70s. it's been a long time since we have had weather like that. it's really nice to see that in the forecast. it continues into the weekend. we'll be in the 70s for saturday. low 80s for sunday. san francisco staying in the 60s throughout the workweek. we have a few crashes to jup date you. >> it's mostly in the east bay. we're looking at 680. this was a crash there and the vehicles have moved to the shoulder. there's a tire, a car hit a tire and that's what was in the roadway. so watch for possible traffic break. we also don't see much slowing.

we track the whole trivalley. over here the crash still on the shoulder at 238. slowing shows a standard pattern there. here a lot more focus slowing down. just past the boulevard, you see this off out of concorde. there's a crash now on the southbound side of 680 approaching. no major injuries that will cause the early slowdown for that part of the county. the backup of the toll plaza that's there. >> thanks, mike. >> happening now a tenth american is dead while vacati vacationing in the dominican republic. a california man also among the victims to die under mysterious
