a very good tuesday morning to you. taking a live look outside this morning at the s curve. looks like folks are up and out the door. good morning to you and thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. let's head over to meteorologist kari hall. kari, what are we looking at today? >> nice weather still in the forecast today. >> i love it. >> we are starting out with mostly clear skies, a live look outside in san jose, upper 50s, you can see that in the corner of the screen and that's where we will stay as we head through about 7:00 to 8:00 and we start to see temperatures warming up. a lot of sun in the forecast today, and the next several days, but also keeping that fog he bay bridge.that. >> i was tracking a crash.

i saw a tow truck arrive, i saw flashing lights reflecting off of the sign over here and then it cleared. looks like that activity now over here in the parking lot. f calmed down. lanes clear once again of the crash and the backup just started over the last ten minutes. happens abo 4:20-4:25 in the morning, we start to see the cash folks waiting a bit. not all the lanes are open but no problem, a smooth drive through contra costa county, alameda county, in the south bay as well. back to you. >> all right, thanks, mike. new for you overnight, we're working to find out more about a stabbing, near a busy intersection in san jose. this is new video from that scene. police say they found a man stabbed near story and king road around 11:30 last night. the actual crime scene is about a mile away on tully and king. no word on the victim's condition or any information about the suspect. our photographer at thehe jail. developing news on the peninsula, the sarin scare at facebook is over. crews were on the scene for 14

hours before they were cleared. has been therestarted. >> "today in the bay's" bob redell joins us live outside the mailing facility for the social media giant with the latest from the fire department. bob? >> reporter: laura and marcus, the menlo park fire protection indicate we should know sometime later today where that package mailed to facebook's mailing facility on hamilton court contained sarin, which is a dangerous nerve agent. the district released these photos of firefighters decontaminating themselves after they removed the suspicious package from the building earlier this morning, around 1:00. they placed it in a mobile containment device. it takes hours to began around a.tem., the package three times, twice it came back with hits for sarin. the company evacuated four buildings, fire called in the usps, fbi, hazmat teams from san mateo county and the national guard. their first tests took place around 6:00 last night, took

about 40 minutes but they were inconclusive. the first responders then reentered the building around 10:30 last night with more sophisticated detection equipment. again, we're waiting on those test results. the building has been determined to be safe and in spite of earlier reports, no one was hurt. reporting live in menlo park, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thank you, bob. good thing no one was hurt. rights groups across the nation and bay area are organizing close the camps protests. >> dozens will gather at the local offices of congress members while they're at home for the fourth of july holiday. the demands along rally is being held at noon in front of senator dianne feinstein's office. a live look at capitol hill, "today in the bay's" tracie potts will join us with a live report how lawmakers are responding, coming up at 5:00 a.m. >> 4:34 right now.

rangers have scaled back on the search for a sonoma county man who disappeared friday during a trip to the grand canyon. 66-year-old peter francis schwab was reported missing when he never returned from a day hike. that hiking trail is set to have challenging terrain but schwab is considered an experienced outdoorsman. a woman police say started homes in fremont is expected to appear in court ding an argumen june 23rd. the flare ignited inthat five-a fire, bri threaten ee eed homes above mission boulevard. more california dmvs are opening at 7:00 a.m. the change started yesterday. eight bay area dmv offices including ones in san francisco, fremont and santa clara now open at 7:00 a.m., four days a week. no total, nearly 70 dmvs in the

state open at that time instead of 8:00. last summer a handful of dmvs changed their hours including one in san jose. los gatos is about to put one of its busiest roads on a diet. starting next monday cars driving along north santa cruz from bachman avenue to elm street will only be able to go south. we sent out business and tech reporter scott budman to talk about this potentially risky decision. >> reporter: north santa cruz avenue is about to become a one-way street. starting july 8th, cars driving along north santa cruz from bachman avenue to elm street will only be able to go south. it aims to make it easier to walk around. >> everyone should be okay with walking. park as far away and walk more. that's what we should be doing anyways. >> reporter: the pilot program will turn some of the current parking spots into outdoor seating for nearby restaurants,

while opening other areas up as new parking. the goal? draw more foot traffic downtown. local businesses say they'll be watching closely. >> i think it will be great to have people out here milling around. we get a ton of foot traffic in the summer, people visiting on vacations and families in town. >> you have outdoor dining and seating. it brings a european sense of place that people love. hopefully that will translate into being good for our businesses. >> reporter: we've seen road diets before in places like san jose's lincoln avenue in thoroughfare. los gatos hopes this diet feeds local businesses without making things too crowded. in los gatos, scott budman, "nbc bay area news." >> 4:36 right now. after a nine-month closure due to safety concerns, the sales force transit center in san francisco mostly open again. a few people were up at the

rooftop park checking it out, enjoying views and plants. people who see the park from their offices say it's nice to finally have a chance to enjoy it. >> it's nice because we're in the building the entire day and there's not a lot of green area around this space so this is like really nice. >> enjoy the green. the $2.2 billion transit center closed last september after crews found cracks in a main support beam. the problem has been fixed, though the building is open, but the bus deck is still closed. bus service is expected to resume later this month. half way through the baseball season, giants are looking to the farm for some help. >> last night, they got it from a standby, sacramento call-up austin slater looked like a season big leaguer against the padres. he hit a triple in the fourth to score evan longoria. the giants offensive fireworks dismantled the padres 13-2. >> got to be exciting to come up from the farm team and really

good morning. i'm frank holland at cnbc headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. wall street is set to open up lower this morning. stocks gave up strong gains yesterday to close off the highs of the session. although the s&p 500 still ended at a record high. optimism over the u.s. and china trade talks of the g20, pausing a new round of tariffs. now it seems to be digested by the market and new worries about the prospects of a final trade deal. investors will get a pulse check on the state of manufacturing and the consumer today when automakers report their june sales. they're expected to have slowed last month after a strong increase in may. higher prices are keeping some buyers away, offsetting the stronger economy and record high consumer sentiment that would otherwise boost sales. about one-third of americans say they cut their spending in the last year, according to a new investing survey by cnbc, financial planning site acorns

sun icons as we go throughout the rest of the morning, and we start out in the upper 50s and we'll be in the upper 60s at 11:00. check out the seven-day forecast at the bottom of the screen showing some warmer temperatures in the forecast for the weekend, but we're enjoying the cooler weather now in brentwood as you get ready to head out the door. also some low 60s there, and mostly clear skies. let's get a look at our highs for today, for the south bay, we're up to 80 in east san jose and cupertino reaching 77 ees. we will still have that breezy wind and making you feel a little bit more comfortable with oakland today reaching 69 degrees, and 74 in hayward and for the coast, we're still seeing the clouds and the cooler temperatures there, half moon bay 61 and 77 in palo alto. mostly 60s in san francisco but look at the wind speeds, 23-mile-per-hour winds and we could even see some higher gusts. we're going to see the highs in the north bay in the upper 70s and low 80s, very seasonable

weather. the onshore flow continues but it will be gusty for half moon bay and along the coast for today, even heading into this evening, as we haven't seen any movement in our weather pattern, still high pressure bringing us still that onshore wind flow, and a couple of storm systems moving well to the north of the bay area. so as we go into the weekend, that high pressure starts to intensify a little bit, and brings us some warmer temperatures, so our temperatures go fromweekend. nothing too crazy here but a htor saturday and sunday. mike, you're taking us back to the view in palo alto. >> that's right, i zoomed in a little bit to show you that stream of lights you saw traffic crawling was because again, about this time, there's one piece of equipment here, one crew for caltrans moving back and you see the cones are there. you're down to one lane as is building traffic coming up through palo alto out of mountain view, san jose, sunnyvale, and you see it right here, right where our camera is. that's the only issue there, just construction crews and

you'll find those around the area, a reminder why you need to slow for the cones. you saw the truck and the person walking there right on the roadway as well. we're looking at folks driving carefully as well through contra costa county toward the bay bridge. no real problems. there's cash lanes, a little backup for cash lanes at the toll plaza. we don't have all lanes openffi across the span smoothly. yesterday about this time we had a crash but no problems to and from san francisco. no delays for b.a.r.t.reminder further notice there's no wifi service so if you' planning on taking that train and doing work on the way into the bay area or through the bay area, no wifi. hope you have a hot spot. back to you. >> thanks so much. a live look at sfo, where police are investigating a deadly crash. this one involving a vehicle that struck a passenger outside the international terminal. one person died. two others suffered life-threatening injuries, happened yesterday afternoon when police say the driver of an suv struck two men and a woman

on the lower level designated for arrivals. the man who died has not been identified. the driver stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. police believe it was an accident and say the driver was not impaired. more license plate readers will soon be going up in piedmont. councilmembers approved a new round of devices to add to the 39 readers the city alreadyeade four more intersections but as you would imagine, not everyone's happy about it. >> they are additional tools to help our investigators as well as our patrol officers do policing more efficiently. >> the city of piedmont's retaining the data for one year, and at that point, they're collecting 21.6 million records, that's images of people's license plates, their cars and potentially people in those cars for one year. there's no evidence that the police chief has provided that keeping it for one year is a useful thing. >> last night's vote will add 13 new cameras at the cost of more
