vianey, how is it looking on the roads? >> so far the roads are quiet. aside from a couple of overnight fender benders the chp is reporting an overall smooth commute on this right before holiday wednesday, july 3rd. right now, if you look at the aren't picking up major slowing. a couple slow spots through the south bay, there could be overnight construction through some of the stretches and that's the reason why we're seeing some slowing, at least through some portions of the south bay. the san mateo bridge conditions look fantastic. you can see no stop and go here, but it's early, it's 4:30. if you need to get to work early or on time, this would be a good time to leave. good morning, everybody. back to you. >> thanks, vianey. right now the search is still on for the shooter who gunned down two people inside a san bruno mall. this started during rush hour last night. the suspect search causing frantic moments for b.a.r.t. riders trying to get home from both sides of the bay. >> nbc bay area continues its live team coverage this morning.

let's go live to san bruno where "today in the bay's" pete suratos is. we expect an update from law enforcement sometime this morning? >> reporter: yes, that's the hope, laura, we get an update from san bruno police sometime this morning. i want to show our viewers a glimpse of the chaos following yesterday's mall shooting. san bruno police responding to the shooting yesterday afternoon at the tan faran mall, you see the chaos following that shooting. they are saying they don't believe the shooting was random, as they continue to search for the suspects in all of this. two victims were hurt, one is in critical condition. the other is in serious condition and as a result of that shooting, guys, the mall was put on lockdown as investigators were there at the mall yesterday. aid inmidst the two tk his top my top, what he's wearing, my shirt and applied pressure to the stomach and his leg was

shaking. >> apply pressure and make sure he was okay. >> reporter: police say a suspect fled on b.a.r.t. following the shooting, as they continue to search for the suspect so of course that affected b.a.r.t. service. we'll have more on that in the next half hour. reporting live from san bruno, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> scary moments there, pete, thank you. nbc bay area scott budman was one of the first report eer on the scene, he posted updates to twitter as the situation developed at the mall. be sure to follow him. new this morning, we're learning about two arrests at sf pride festivities over the weekend. both had to deal with illegal firearms. "the sf chronicle" is reporting on saturday at a festival at selfic center plaza officers with the gang force task force recognized 22-year-old ivanta bailey. officers found a handgun and at the same festival officersith a

neighborhood may want to think twice about leaving their pets outside at night. there is an apparent rise in coyote sightings. >> people who live near carlton elementary school say they're seeing more coyotes. some posting photos, putting up handwritten signs. wildlife experts say the number of sightings this year is about average. >> it was bigger than i expected. seeing it in person, like the eyes, you see and glistens, and not expecting to see that. >> numbers about the same as the past few years. what's changed really is people's perception. >> experts say it's the rise in social media that gives the sightings more attention. generally coyotes stay away from people. an update to the deadly crash on monday in sfo, an suv struck three people outside the international terminal, killing one of them. the other two were critically injured. police arrested the suv driver. originally police said the driver cooperated at the scene and was not impaired.

investigators now say he was driving at an unsafe speed. he's now facing vehicular manslaughter charges. that man who died is identified as 33-year-old jedidiah cruz. a small brush fire on crispi drive, firefighters worked quickly to stop the flames from damaging any nearby buildings. investigators believe the fire was caused by a person. luckily no one was hurt. who says the giants are out for the race this year? >> this week they're proving maybe it's too early to count them out. they played some inspired ball last night in san diego doing serious damage with the long ball. evan longoria hit a second homer in the fifth helping lead the giants to the win and the final score every trucker loves, 10-4, get it? >> 10-4, out.

good morning, i'm frank holland at cnbc headquarters. wall street could see green arrows at the open this morning. yesterday the markets rising with the s&p 500 closing at another record high even as the optimism over the trade truce between the u.s. and china continues to fade. on today's watch list, reports on hiring in the private sector and the trade deficit. the markets closed early today ahead of the holiday at 1:00 p.m. eastern time. waymo gets the green light to carry passengers in california. state officials gave the self-driving unit a permit to take part in a pilot program. there are a few restrictions. they cannot charge passengers and there must be an operator to take over just in case. it could eventually open the door to waymo offering a taxi

francisco, it's a clear start. we are going to see some sunshine again today by starting to see the sun rise over the south bay, and as we get closer to that sunrise, our temperatures remain in the upper 50s, and then we'll see some upper 60s by 11:00, and it's going to be another gradual warmup and some comfortable air as we head into the east bay. oakland today reaches 69 degrees, while antioch tops out at 84. we will still have that wide range in temperatures from the coast to the inland areas, with half moon bay reaching 62, and 74 degrees in redwood citysco, staying in the 60s today. the embarcadero reaching 64. in the north bay, ukiah headed up to 84 degrees, and point reyes staying in the upper 50s. if you're going out to the a's game tonight, hopefully we can do it again and win against those twins. it's going to be in the mid-60s today, mostly sunny skies at the time that we start the game, but as the game goes on, it's going to be in the lower 60s, so bring

a jacket. if you're checking out the pollen count, if you're having to deal with the allergies right now, it's still mostly grass. everything else is fairly low. here is our weather setup. we are enjoying some mild weather, very nice onshore wind flow, and then across the pacific northwest, we've seen several rounds of rain. as we head into the weekend, the high pressure becomes a little bit more of an influence in our weather, brings in much more of a northerly wind, and we get a boost in our temperatures headed into next week, there will be another storm system approaching to our north and so that's going to bring in some cooler temperatures to the bay area, and it's going to be below normal as we go into next week. so here is a look at the forecast for the fourth of july. we're up to 80 degrees. very much like today, and then a warmup goes on as we go into friday, into saturday, cooling down next week and we'll be watching for that fog in san francisco. vianey, how is it looking on the roads now? >> it's getting a little busy

through the tri-valley and the east bay, so i do want to give you a look at your drive times but i'm happy to say that the south bay so far no major issues to report. we had some slowing in through palo alto, cleared out from an overnight crash. so let's get right to the drive times, because dublin is one of the areas that really starts to get busy around the 5:00 a.m. hour as all of the commuters start to make their way into the south bay and the city. let's look at the drive times now. westbound 580 from grant line road to 680 looking at 20 minutes. southbound 068 from 580 to vargas road ten minutes and westbound 84 from vallecitos road to 680 about 11 minutes. this one is typically starting to build around this time. the east bay, oakland commuters get ready. we're noticing a lot more people hitting the roads very early this morning. as far as any slowing, it's just the typical morning pattern. no accidents to report but east bay drive times are starting to slow down for southbound and northbound rthbnd or southboundu may want to head out the door and take the coffee to vianey.
