sports even though we start out with clouds. willow glen in the upper 50s and skies clearing out pretty fast. at noon, 73 degrees so feeling nice and comfortable. we're headed into the 80s today, even some upper 80s and gilroy up to 90. we'll talk about slightly warmer temperatures in the forecast and mike, so far, everything's off to a good start. >> we have the flashing lights on the shoulder that was right here southbound 101 at 680. i'll go back to my desk, the traffic center and check again but you see no slowing. looking toward the bay bridge, a smooth drive throughout contra costa county, even out of brentwood, down vasco road toward 580, a smooth flow. 580 across the freeway from the oakland zoo there was a small brush fire, quickly put out by crews, no problems, not even half an acre and the nimitz freeway. you have company but no problems there. 4:31 and look at your screen. there's more shaking, this time up north in seattle. it was a 4.6 quake that hit the

pacific northwest. happened around 2:51 this morning and there is a lot of seismic activity in the seattle area but this is a totally different fault system than the one that caused the ridgecrest earthquake in southern california. no reports of any major damage or injuries but we'll bring you updates as they come in. new overnight an apparent double stabbing in the south bay. so far, details are sketchy. the police are not confirming anything, but we could see a lot of officers, as you see right here, in that area surrounding santa clara street in downtown san jose. this is near the guadalupe river. the videographer covering the incident told us two people were stabbed late last night, one of them multiple times. police are not confirming any of that nor are they telling us if they've located an attacker. they are reaching o, wre

police. continuing coverage of the raids scheduled for this weekend. immigrants rights groups are mobilizing in preparation. >> "today in the bay's" bob redell is live outside san jose city hall where one group will rally later on today. i bet there will be a lot of people out there, bob. >> reporter: kris and marcus, the rapid response network here in santa clara county were participating in a few rallies including one in san jose city plaza. this is a community group that helps practice protect undocumented immigrants from being deported, and today they'll provide tips, hotline number to help migrants deal with this weekend's expected raids by i.c.e., that's immigration customs and enforcement agency, the federal agency. starting sunday i.c.e. i expected to round up 2,000 undocumented immigrants in ten major u.s. cities, including san francisco. this was to this planned sweep. through an interpreter one mother tells us she her immigra

breaking news last night at 5:00. >> now we're learning the driver of that van is facing dui and felony hit-and-run charges. "today in the bay's" sergio quintana has more on this terrifying story. >> reporter: this was left in the middle of the street, it's an item that was marked by investigators at the scene. it's a disturbing sight for neighbor loni holden >> it was a pink sandal left on the ground so yeah, yeah. i can only imagine what the family is actually going through. >> reporter: according to santa rosa police, the victim in this girl. she suffered serious injuries and was first rushed to santa rosa memorial hospital, then to children's hospital in oakland. she is expected to recover. according to witnesses she unexpectedly ran into the street. >> we believe at this point that the child was with an adult. the child ran towards the street, unbeknownst to the adult, and was struck by a didn't stop. >> rtoldeporteolice the vehicle white gmc van.

investigators located it just a few yards from the scene of the alleged hit-and-run. neighbor lonnie holden watched as the police officer examined it. >> the person lived in the apartment complex on the side over there. >> reporter: you know the driver? >> i don't know the driver personally but i've seen him drive through here several times. >> reporter: one of the investigating officers recognized the van from another hit-and-run next week. the owner hector cabralas larios was found in his apartment. he was arrested for suspicion of hit-and-run and felony dui. sergio quintana, "da convictions. the search is on this morning for a few in an upscale peninsulaighbhood. the hillsborough police say the men on the screen broke into two homes wednesday night behind the nueva elementary middle school campus. surveillance video picked up the men on nearby streets. they broke a glass window in the back of one of the homes to get in. if you saw anything, call

headquarters. wall street looks to extend its winning ways today. stocks were mostly higher yesterday after fed chairman jay powell suggested the fed is likely to cut interest rates this month. the dow closing above the 27,000 milestone for the first time ever. on today's watch list a report on wholesale or producer prices. you may notice an increase in gas prices as tropical storm barry takes aim at the gulf coast. more than half of the region's oil output has been cut as staff are taken off offshore rigs and platforms. flooding is the concern here and that could reduce operations at refineries and key pipelines that transport oil and gas throughout the country. the demand usually spikes ahead of storms but it depends on how fast the storm moves. google is chbd itting t ide practice of letting workers listen to software after reports

temperatures for today. in morgan hill, we're headed up to 89 degrees. we'll see mid 80s in milpitas today as well as downtown san jose. concord up to 93 and hayward tops out at 82 today. we'll see some low 80s in redwood city and palo alto, and san francisco in the upper 60s today. in the north bay, up to 90 in santa rosa as well as napa. so a little bit hotter there today. we have much more of a northerly wind picking up. for san francisco, we do still have a slight onshore wind flow that keeps it breezy, even as we start out today, and then going into the afternoon, we see those wind speeds picking up especially this evening for the coastal areas, and we will still clouds there lingering throughout the afternoon, but it will be clearing up in santa cruz today, so if you're going there for the weekend, expect some upper 70s really comfortable weather especially with some of the valleys heating up, and we're heading up to 92 degrees for tomorrow in the inland areas. it's going to be pretty hot in some spots, but then look at

what happens next week, we go back to our more seasonable weather for early july, and then going into san francisco, staying nice and cool there, breezy, and also going to see mostly sunny skies. mike, you're starting with the drive through san jose. >> kari, we saw the flashing lights. i didn't have an answer for you and i still don't. southbound 101 all clear and i scanned the area just as they cleared that one set of flashing lights over on the shoulder, right around the 680 interchange. that was the last of it. everything cleared there through the area and the speed sensors reflect the same, as you it, highway 17 northbound smooth in toward silicon valley. a nice little slowdown just a little bit west 580 as it merges with 205, and then things clear up through the tri-valley. on the peninsula 101 at san bruno avenue a crash on the shoulder. there may be a semitruck which will distract but not causes sensors to change from green. over here the cash lanes on either side of the fastrak in the middle are slow. notice we don't have all the

cash lanes open just yet. that's not bad, only to the end of the parking lot and holding steady the last ten minutes. no delays b.a.r.t. it takes you under the water and under that toll plaza. back to you. >> thanks, mike. there are more developments surrounding the death of dawan armstrong at the santa rita jail in derbeken reported on the year-long search for answers. >> waited too release! >> reporter: activists poured into the district attorney's office yesterday demanding they release body cam footage of armstrong's death. the investigation found he was asphyxiated after placed in a full body restraint device and had a spit mask covering his face. investigators say armstrong had taken drugs and was acting strangely while in his cell. when deputies tried to move him to a medical unit he got
