there's a trail of black smoke, and the refinery sent an alert, and chevron level one flare, and chevron said it did not pose a danger to the public. a lot of anger about pg & e's latest proposal to hand out millions in bonuses to top executives. the incentives are more than $60 million, and they call them justified. it's to reward top safety officials for safety improvements, and the head of the group said all the revelations about pg & e safety issues is proof it should be rejected out right. >> you should only be eligible for bone kwruguses if you are d outstanding work over a period of time and pg & e is nowhere close to that.

>> a bankruptcy judge will decide that at a hearing next week. a supervisor says he will delay a plan to t, and "the chronicle" reports there will be a similar tax measure on the 2020 ballot when far more people will be voting. and then the man accused of killing a man will stand trial. that same judge originally ruled the opposite in december, but a recent doctor's examination found him competent. he's expected to enter a plea as soon as next month. the deadly shooting of a

pawnshop in vallejo. police say the men ran into the store and shot and killed the owner and then shot the clerk who was in a wheelchair. while leaving the store one of them shot and killed the owner's dog. the three men arrested in connection to the shooting, nelson, summerize all facing murder charges. police are looking for a person that stole two puppies ten days ago. the border collie puppies are about six weeks old. if you can help call the east bay regional park police. dozen of baby birds also need your help after the tree they lived in snapped in half. >> the tree in downtown oakland

good morning. i am indicatestoc fell for a se economic data, and it's the worst day in three weeks. we have data on unemployment and earnings from morgan stanley and microsoft. keep an eye on netflix today, the stock is getting slammed. a number of rivals including disney and nbc universal are set to launch their service in the coming months. the new season of "stranger things" did not premiere until this month. the office saying that will allow it to spend more on original content.

welcome to thursday morning. looks like folks are up and out this morning as we take a live look outside. mike is coming up with a look at the morning commute to help you pave your way through the bay

area. side by side photos of the sierra snow pack. on the left, it's a picture from april of this year, and there was enough people were still skiing on the fourth of july. the picture on the right was taken a few days ago, and on the high sierra tops you still see it there. it's a beautiful thing at lake tahoe. >> yeah. >> summertime, really nice this season. >> cold lake. >> yeah, 600 inches of snow melting, it's pretty amazing so we are hoping to be there soon. let's get you out the door this morning as you step out in cupertino, low 60s at 8:00. there will be a few more clouds today compared to yesterday but that's going to help keep our temperatures a few degrees cooler. we are heading into the low 80s by early afternoon, and our

hour-by-hour outlook shows fog and low clouds near the coast that will linger throughout the day and then stretch back across the bay into tonight, and even in gilroy we are going to see the clouds and the fog rolling in by early tomorrow morning. as you make plans for this morning getting out the door in san ramon, it's going to be a nice cool start to the day with upper 50s at 7:00. if you are heading to the park around 10:00, upper 60s and then reaching into t upper 70s by early afternoon, a lot of sunshine and breezy winds there. you will notice it will be cooler. morgan hill seeing a high of 83 degrees, and no 90s for the east bay. warm temperatures in antioch and pittsburg, but a lot of low 80s for some spots. half moon bay, expect a high of

drizzling.and staying cloudy north bay up to 92. novato reaches 82 degrees. our weather pattern will start to heat up into the weekend. we are just catching a bit of a break right now, and then a storm system move into the pacific northwest may bring in minor cooling next week. we will be hot from now to then with continuing in the upper 80s in the valleys, and san francisco keeping it cool there along the coast. a little more in the way of clouds and fog for today. mike, you were checking in on what was happening in palo alto. >> a hit-and-run crash called into chp, so we checked northbound 101 right there, no lanes blocked, no problems, so we thought we would do due diligence to see what is going on, and i see we, but i am the

and east bay times voted council members voted to close it, and firefighters say it may impact response times and right now th. and then another blow in palo alto. traffic will be impacted if the school is not able to expanded. tphaeub neighbors have been fighting the expansion plan since 2016. marriott is reportedly getting the green light to replace two hotels in the deadly bay firestorm. it will go up near the site where two hotels were destroyed in a wildfire.

marriott will have to get architectural approval from a city board. scary moments for two window washers in san francisco. they were stuck on the side of the millennium tower yesterday ten stories up. still no word about what got them stuck in the first place. trending this morning, parents are putting disney on blast. a new character, forkie, made his debut recently in "toy story 4." the prices range from about $10 all the way up to $59 if you want one that walks, talks and dances. people took to twitter expressing outrage saying it's nothing but a fork with eyes and a pipe cleaner, adding kids can make it themselves like the character in the movie did, and that's not to mention the fkie .
