commute. >> roads are quiet right now and our speed sensors all green and a couple crashes in the south bay cleared out and you don't have to worry through there. peninsula, san francisco, east bay all looking pretty good. san mateo bridge. good, smooth commute. i'll have another update coming up shortly. >> thank you, vianey. breaking news. >> bob, what do you know? >> marcus and laura, this happened in foxworthy near this bridge that goes over the guadeloupe river. police were called out when they arrived and they found a man down the water down the steep embankment and when they pulled him out they immediately began cpr. when they had to bring him up, they used a rope to bring him up on the stretcher and on the

stretcher he is unconscious and you can see the paramedics are no longer performing life-saving measures on him. we know he was taken away in an. the video shows police helping another man climb up the embankment. it's not clear if these men are homeless or what reason they were down there in the middle of the night. we reached out to san jose police to get more information. there is water down there, but it is calm and by no means appears to be a strong current. reporter live, bob redell. some residents probably had a nerve wracking night after a fire burned dangerously close to homes yesterday. this is video you see from nbc sky ranger flying over the scene in the foothills. as of last night that fire was 50% contained. fires did destroy barnes.

some of those neighbors fear the worst. >> i see the fire trucks and i think about it. i put that image in my mind. my house is burning down. but when i drive up, i see my house still there. >> right now we're still trying to learn how that fire started. new video and incredible pictures of the aftermath in san francisco. the car is essentially split in two. it happened two hours in the bay view on third and carol. three people suffered major injuries and no word on what caused it. in just a matter of hours, b.a.r.t. will decide on its next leader. >> "today in the bay," pete joining us with those details. pete? >> good morning to you guys. b.a.r.t.'s board of directors will decide on that manager later.

grace decided to retire back in april. she served in that position for about eight years and at the time did not provide any reasons as to why she was leaving or what that next career move will be, but the next general manager will have plenty of work ahead, that includes expansion of b.a.r.t. stations in antioch and irvingten near the b.a.r.t. stop and dealing with the fare evasion problem by installing new gates. evasion costs the agency millions of dollars per year. in our investigative unit uncovered that b.a.r.t. is spending hundreds of thousands of dollars on legal fees to challenge, cost $850,000 to date when it comes to the legal fees. the vote for the next gm will take place at 9:00 a.m. >> thanks, pete. 4:34 for you right now.

two violent carjacking suspects are in custody after a manhunt put one peninsula neighborhood on lockdown for hours. >> two hours daly city police officer spotted two men matching descriptions in the carjacking. the suspect crashed their car near westmore high school during the chase and the suspect took off running. neighbors were told to shelter in place. >> the carjacking in san francisco was a carjacking with a gun. we don't know if the suspect fled with that same weapon. we have to assume that they are armed. >> police say the initial incident, the driver was struck with a metal object while sitting in his car. one of the suspects pulled a gun on the victim's wife as he tried to help. police say tried to hide out in a san jose miniature golf course. ere is his booking photo.

good morning, i'm frank holland at cnbc headquarters. wall street is set to open up mostly higher today. the nasdaq could be weighed down from disappointing earnings from tesla overnight. yesterday a mixed session for stocks. mixed results from boeing and caterpillar but the nasdaq and s&p 500 both closed at record highs. reports on unemployment and durable goods and a whole lot of

earnings including from 3m, amazon, alphabet and starbucks. you want to watch shares of facebook today. they're higher as inesthavestor don't appear to be flinching. they beat wall street forecast on steady user growth on its site as well as instagram and they related to a big charge on this $5 billion fine over data privacy issues. facebook also says continued costs related to other government probes could hit results well into next year. the department of justice is set to approve t-mobile merger with sprint as well as today. as parts of the deal, they'll sell some assets to dish network. this mergerlders and dish will reportedly get 9 million sprint customers and be allowed to operate on the network for many more years. maintain competition by creating a fourth provider. the question for me, though, how

here's a live looksiew. it is so beautiful to start out this morning. no fog. and, so, that's going to love t allow the temperatures to heat up today. as you step out the door, it feelsywarm. we're almost at 70 degrees in livermore and this is to start out the day. in oakland 62 degrees while we're cooling down to 55 in santa rosa. the cooler spot on the map there. as we check out martinez in the mid-60s as you head out the door. a few more clouds today and that is because we're feeling a little more humidity and that's going to stay with us into the afternoon. 84 degrees already at lunchtime. in the south bay, we're going to see those highs in gilroy reach 94 degrees. milpitas is reaching 90 degrees and still hot for the inland east bay. we're not looking at upper 90s today and comes down a few

degrees and it is still going to m expect comfortable with some upper 60s in the north bay anywhere from the upp u 90s. and we had a lot of storms blow up over this area yesterday. we're still seeing that rain over parts of southern california and we're feeling the humidity and a slight chance that some of that monsoonal moisture could trigger an isolated thundershower or two across the bay area. we'll watch out for that tonight and tomorrow morning and then we head into the weekend with more hot weather. in fact, those temperatures hitting over 100 degrees. we'll see some very hot weather headed our way and it really hits us saturday and sunday and then comes down early next week into the mid to upper 80s. san francisco will be in the mid-70s. also warming up there for the weekend. getting out on the roads, how is it looking so far?

>> i'm still trying to get over the triple digit heat. i hope you are not going triple digits on the roads. not a lot of slowing going on with the exception of the 580. the stretch along both sides. we're starting to see building traffic. now, i did check the chp reports and i didn't see anything specific could be overnight construction they're clearing out but notice slowing along this stretch. right along the boulevard, you may want to hop off and avoid this area and take surface streets and jump on after that. you can see in dublin we're noticing some slowing. let's look at our drive times. from grant line road to 580 and westbound 84 to 680 about 9 minutes. back to you. >> thanks so much. 4:48. the latest on the new report highlighting thousands of

undocumented immigrants through oakland airport. >> concerned citizens plan to sound off to port leaders at a meeting in oakland. as you may remember the bay area news group said i.c.e. used the airport to deport nearly 43,000 people and they ended the practice last october. the mayor's office said they aric looiare looking further into those matters. legal hot water accused of funneling money meant to go to troops overseas. filed suit yesterday against the sacramento-based charity move america forward. he said the money meant for military care packages went instead for the campaigns for tea party political candidates. the assemblyman founded that charity which also falsely claimed it was associated with the walter reed medical center. move america forward is denying the claim saying it has been completely transparent. governor gavin newsom just
