the door. meteorologist kari hall has been tracking what we can expect. another cool day? a cool start. >> a bigger cooldown and compared to the hot weekend across the bay area, that's a live look in san jose as the sun comes up. we have a clear start headed to sunnyvale. we'll stay in the 70s throughout early afternoon and it will be a little bit cooler than our normal high, so it's nice to get a refreshing start to the work week. south bay temperatures reaching the low 80s, some of our inland east bay valleys reaching into the upper 80s and as with you get out the door this morning, it has already backed up at the bay bridge toll plaza. they turned the metering lights on earlier this morning so you can see the back yum. as we look at the maps, we are going to see the rest of the bay area flowing fairly good. as we get out the door a lot of green sewn sores. a couple of issues, coming into the bay area from san joaquin

valley. we are seeing a big rig crash on westbound 580 that may cause delays for the next couple of hours as they try to clean up a fuel leak. if you know someone coming in, they have to deal with a very long commute coming into livermore. we'll talk about this and also a look at the rest of the commute, it's coming up in about five minutes. >> thanks so much, kari. now back to that breaking news which we have been following for more than 12 hours, the deadly shooting rampage at the gilroy garlic festival. >> it happened a little bit before 6:00 last night at christmas hill park where the festival has been held for decades. here is the latest. three people dead including a 6-year-old boy, and we're just getting an update on the number of people injured. gilroy police are now saying 12 people were hurt. police responded in less than a minute, and killed the gunman. he's not been identified but sources tell our investigative unit the gunman was not on anyone's radar as a threat. witnesses talked about a possible second person involved but authorities are still trying to sort that out.

we're expecting another news conference at 10:00 a.m. this morning. we'll have continued team coverage of this shooting. ali wolf has details on the youngest victims. scott mcgrew outlining how the suspect got inside the festival but let's start out with bob redell at the scene. he has more on the harrowing moments. bob? >> reporter: laura, the ap reports that one witness yelled at the shooter, shouted at him, "why are you doing this" and the shooter responded "because i'm angry." you have to walk through metal detectors and get past security with wands. akosccording to police the susp cut through a perimeter fence, crossed a creek and entered the festival that way. a number of people saw him as he approached the northern part of the festival. he was a young man wearing a camouflage shirt, a camouflage cap and he was carrying a long rifle. a woman selling honey here at the festival tells us two of her co-workers were shot.

she watched the shooter reload, and then ran for her life. >> only 10, 15 feet away from us. he was loading his clip before he went to our booth, and was shooting but he was shooting random. he didn't pick that booth. he was just shooting. he wasn't trying, you know, anybody in particular. it was anybody in his way. >> reporter: it was clear he wasn't targeting someone specific. >> no, he was just shooting. >> reporter: what was going through your head when you were running away? >> i don't know, run, save your life. hopefully he doesn't start shooting this way, just scary, and wondering if there's any more and why would somebody want to do this. you know, it doesn't make sense. why would somebody want to come in and kill innocent people, you know? >> reporter: and that is a great question that law enforcement is still trying to answer. as we've been reporting, gilroy police engaged the suspect within a minute after he started shooting, and officers did shoot and kill the man. coming up in a half hour at 6:30, we'll hear from a man who

is running a rock climbing gym for kids, we'll tell you what he did when that suspect started shooting. reporting live in gilroy, bob redell, "today in the bay." >> thank you very much, bob. as we mentioned, one of the three people shot and killed by that gunman is a 6-year-old boy. you see him right here. stephen row me row died. two other members of his family as well were shot. >> it breaks my heart because it's a festival for families. nbc bay area's ali wolf is live at gilroy police headquarters with more from that little boy's father. he must be heartbroken, ali. >> reporter: absolutely heartbroken, laura, and you mentioned it, it's a place where a collide should be safe, a family-friendly event and we did have an interview last night with stephen row me row's father, as you mentioned a lot of heartbreak, also a lot of shock. he spoke to us outside of the hospital, not too long after getting the news. alberto romero reached out to nbc bayarea. he also shared photos of stephen. he says hison was a happy boy who had his whole life ahead of him. the 6-year-old at the garlic festival yesterday with his

mother and his grandmother, and he says his mother and grandmother were shot as well. romero said his wife and mother-in-law were taken to a different hospital in san jose, treated for their gunshot wounds. they are expected to be okay but here's what he had to say about losing his young son in such a tragic way. >> hopefully they get the shooters, and basically that's it right now. i lost my son. there's -- nothing i really can do besides try to be with him so i could put him in his resting spot, wherever that is. my son had his whole life to live, and he was only 6. that's all i can say. >> reporter: and you can imagine what a difficult time to is for that father and for the entire family. stephen romero died last night at st. louis st. louis.

his wife was shot in her hand and he thinks his mother-in-law was shot in her leg. another really shocking thing that he told us was that he actually found out about this shooting when he was at home. he got a call from his wife about the shooting that his son had been shot, and his wife was also shot. so just a lot of heartbreak for this family and of course, for the families of the other two victims. we don't know much about them at this point. reporting live in gilroy this morning, ali wolf for "today in the bay." >> alberto and so many others are going through this morning, just really tough, our prayers are with them. we've been showing you a lot of video. scott mcgrew has been looking through the map to give us more perspective of how that gunman got in to the area. >> you've got a good illustration. >> i do, marcus and laura. we'll start with this one. you've shown the viewer this is one, the broader area. you've got the festival right here in christmas hill park, emergency responders staged here and this was triage and command center at gilroy high school.

and then families told to come down to the college so they could be reunited with their loved ones. as for the festival itself, we understand from the gilroy police chief that the suspect or suspects crossed a creek. that creek is right here. here is the festival right there, into a parking area. we think the shooting happened right about here at a rock climbing wall. we'll talk to that person who runs that wall shortly and listen in as police start this frantic search. >> we think the subject might be in the creek south of miller. he's wearing camouflage hat, camouflage uniform and he's got, uh, a long rifle, with a removable magazine. >> police shot that man in camouflage within one minute of that first alert. as it happened, there was a police substation on the north side of the park, very close to where we think this shooting happened. let's go back to that radio, as they report the suspect is down. >> we have a shooter down

possibly in the northeast, uh corner of the park. uh, headed north of the compound. >> as we've been reporting the gunman killed three people including that 6-year-old boy. sadly not the only mass shooting at a festival this weekend. in brooklyn, one person killed, 11 shot at old timers day less than 24 hours before the mass shooting in gilroy. our nbc station in new york city says so far, there have been no arrests, and in that case, there's a suspected second suspect as well. witnesses at that festival saying the exact same thing we heard in gilroy. laura, they said why would anybody do this? >> it seems to be the continued refrain that we're hearing after all of these shootings. thank you very much, scott. >> yesterday you were actually down there, you got your own perspective of what was going n on, what people were dealing with. what was all going on there when you were there? >> i got word of the shooting right before 6:00 and heard some of that scanner traffic. i went down to the scene of the

shooting, so many roads were already blocked off. i did a facebook live report and it was really interesting to see all the people that were out just in front of their front yard. gilroy is a very small community down there, and people were just almost experiencing it together. they were all in shock. fact the streets that are marked off right there, the road blocks that were set up, it was such a community effort just to even block off the streets, some of the workers from the gilroy garlic festival were manning these areas, trying to help police, and they were just coming in, law enforcement from agencies from throughout the bay area. there were ambulances, fire, police. the streets were lit up with sirens and all the blaring lights that were going on as well, but it was very frightening as well for people, because there were three helicopters circling overhead, because there were concerns that there was a second suspect. >> right. >> i didn't leave there until very late in the evening but there was a certain eeriness about it and a lot of fear in that community as well.

>> did you see a lot of people like you were saying coming together to really help each other? because you have to lean on someone when you're dealing with this. >> marcus, there were people on literally every street corn we are cell phones, out talking, some had a stunned look, some were coming from christmas hill park who had been kind of trapped in there, hunkering down, and so they were almost numb. could you see their expressions, they couldn't even speak. it's very tragic and i really feel like the south bay is really feeling it together. >> right what the mind wants to do is put it together and understand why but really -- >> hopefully we'll get more information about the gunman and his intentions. very, very tragic. that area in fact right now still swarming with law enforcement teams, and now fbi agents are involved. again, we're expecting another news conference at 10:00 this morning. we're going to bring it to you live on air as it happens. we'll also stream it on be nbcbayarea.com. stay with us for the latest information. you can find the latest on our website, as i mentioned, as well. 6:11 for you right now.

let's get a check of the weather and traffic for you this morning. meteorologist kari hall is doing double duty for us. >> yes, we have such a hot weekend and we had some triple-digits in the inland areas but today we get ready for a cooldown as we start out with some clear skies, looking live over palo alto as you get ready to head out the door. we have upper 50s. you may need a light jacket and later on today it will be comfortable with light long sleeves. if you're going out to the warm springs b.a.r.t. station in fremont, expect it to also be in the upper 50s on the other side of the bay but reaching into the upper 70s. as we get a live look outidentify at the san matoutsit the san mateo bridge it is flowing well in the commute direction. as we look at our overall traffic maps for the bay area, we've had a couple of minor issues. as far as the south bay it's looking good but as you go through the east bay, we've seen a couple of areas slowing down. the big issue has been the sig alert and the crash that happened on 580 westbound,

coming from mountain house into livermore, right there at grant line road, there was a big rig crash and that caused a fuel leak. it may take until about 8:00 for them to clean that up, so we can see all the red sensors, the backup coming out of the central valley, trying to make it into the bay area, and we've also had another minor crash in the east bay right there at southbound 680 at alcosta boulevard. the off-ramp is blocked but the interstate is flowing well. i'll monitor that and the weather in a few minutes. coming up next, we'll take you out east before the markets open. big business headline we're watching this morning, a potential mega marger in the pharmaceutical industry. the drugs impacted and the potential profit. and all now this morning, of course we are continuing our coverage of the deadly mass shooting at the gilroy garlic festival. these are images from that chaos on sunday. online right now, interviews with witnesses, police, and more from the family of that little

then getting a look at our tri-valley drive times, as you get ready to head out on the road, it's been really slow coming through westbound 580 from grant line road, there's an accident there. we are starting to see things improving but starting to slow down westbound 84. i'll talk more about that and a look at the forecast coming up in less than five minutes. good morning, i'm frank holland at cnbc headquarters. here are today's top business headlines. stocks are said to open up flat as investors wait an action-packed week on wall street. u.s. and chinese trade negotiators are meeting in shanghai for the first in-person talks since a truce was struck in june. investors are weighing the outcome of the latest federal reserve meeting. most analysts expect the fed to cut interest rates by 25 basis points. and it's the busiest week of the earnings season.

spotlight on the bay area, tech giant apple out with its quarterly results on tuesday. meantime, a blockbuster deal in the biotech industry announced. pharmaceutical giant pfizer is merging its generic drug business with mylan. the combined company which will sell mylan's epipen and pfizer's viagra could bring in annual sales of more than $20 billion. mylan stock is surging on the news but down sharply from its 2015 high amid scrutiny of price hikes on epipen and wider investigation into price collusion in the drug industry. the world of fortnite crowned a new champion yesterday, 16-year-old american kyle "bugha" giersdorf, won the video game's inaugural world cup solo final in new york. giersdorf, a pennsylvania native managed to escape past 99 opponents earning 59 points through six games. the runner-up scored 33 points. giersdorf took home the trophy and a $3 million cash prize. epic games, the company behind fortnite, awarded more than $40 million prizes across the entire tournament. i wish i played.

san francisco, starting out with some fog and some mist and drizzle to greet you as you step out, and if you're on the other side of the bay, headed to the fruitvale b.a.r.t. station it's maybe in the low 60s. a much cooler start. we're going to see temperatures going from 61 to 68 degrees. stays on the cool side with our south bay high temperatures coming down in some spots almost 20 degrees, compared to yesterday. so in downtown san jose, we're reaching 81 degrees. gilroy going to see a high of 84. we'll be in the mid 80s as well for much of the east bay. there will be a couple of spots still heating up to 87, and oakland reaching 71. in san mateo expect a high of 70 degrees and 65 in the mission district. north bay reaching 80 in novato and in napa, while ukiah tops out at 09 degrees. what's happening here? we've seen high pressure over the desert southwest giving us some very high heat for the inland parts of the bay area, but as that high pressure slides off to the east, it allows for a

storm system to approach the pacific northwest. for us that means a stronger ocean breeze. for seattle and portland, that means some rain once again. for us we see the fog back and that breeze will be enough to push cooler air into the inland valleys, so this is how our temperatures look throughout the week. we have mid to upper 80s for at least wednesday, but then coming down to 83 degrees on thursday. friday we're up to 86 degrees, but check out what happens this weekend. it's going to heat up, but not be as hot as the weekend we just had. as we get a look at san francisco, staying mostly in the 60s all throughout the week. as we get ready to head out on the roads, a look at oakland this morning, and 880 is flowing well, but we've seen a lot of problems, a big backup at the bay bridge toll plaza, and as we look at the traffic maps overall across the bay area, we've seen things flowing fairly well, especially for the south bay, as you get ready to head out the door and up the peninsula, it's looking good. we also had a sig alert that crash continues to be an issue

out. police responded to the shooting in less than monone minute. they scheduled an update, a press conference at 10:00 this morning, we'll bring that to you. meantime, we're just getting word of police activity in gilroy, this is a neighborhood happening right now. it's not clear if this is actually linked to that shooting. >> but let's bring in "today in the bay's" ali wolf. she just got to that scene. what are you seeing out there, ali? >> reporter: well laura and marcus, we just pulled up about 15 minutes ago to this quiet residential neighborhood. i'll step out so you can see what it looks like here. we see four law enforcement vehicles, two from gilroy police, to unmarked vehicles, where we saw police officers and atf agents walk in. we saw those agents walk in with bags, possibly to collect evidence. as of now, we don't have confirmation that this is related to the shooting, but that's what a lot of neighbors are speculating to us. of course, this is a quiet town, and this shooting has really rattled a lot of people, and

this activity really just picking up here about the last 15 minutes, when we pulled up. that is when we saw these police vehicles pull up, sort of blocking off the entrance to this house. as we've seen officers and agents go in and out, we also spoke to one neighbor who was just getting up, leaving for work, and really startled to see this police activity, and he says that he and neighbors believe this is connected to the investigation at the gilroy garlic festival, that deadly shooting that caused panic here in this area. neighbors waking up a little concerned, wondering what is going on here, and we're working to gather more information. this is just about five minutes from the gilroy garlic festival so again, we just arrived here to this neighborhood, and we'll see what we can bring you later in the newscast. reporting live in gilroy, ali wolf for "today in the bay." >> thank you very much, ali. like all the surrounding neighborhoods around there, there was a lot of tension in the air most certainly. people were gathered outside of their homes. we'll continue to check back

with her to see if there's any other developments. now to the latest of that rampage, the actual scene itself. eyewitness reports this morning describing the sheer terror when they heard those shots. >> "today in the bay's" bob redell is live there at the scene with more chilling accounts, and bob, i can imagine even today you could probably still feel the intensity in the air. >> reporter: we have the sheriffs office and local police at the site of the shooting continuing their investigation. one man who witnessed what happened here yesterday at christmas hill park in gilroy says what he witnessed was horrifying, and that when he first saw the gunman, he knew that the gunman was ready to do some damage, that was his words. ryan wallace, he's from auburn, he was running a rock climbing equipment gym for children at the festival. spotted the suspect wearing a

vest, long sleeve vest, he rose his gun up and started spraying rounds. wallace wanted to run but felt responsible for the children on his rock climbing gym. >> we had half of them up there, and so i was pulling them out, try igto get them out and run. instincts kicked in really, just get the kids out and be safe. that was all i could really think of doing. just kind of trying to decipher everything out in my head. >> reporter: yeah, what do you do now? >> exactly, just got to have your friends, decompress, make sure you got your loved ones. >> wallace eventually did run and hid under a trail we are some of the other vendors until it was safe to come out. within a minute of this shooting, gilroy police say their officers did shoot and kill that suspect. coming up in about id s'd say 2 minutes the brief exchange of words between another witness and the shooter. reporting live in gilroy, bob redell "today in the bay." >> thanks so much for that, bob, for that update. the father of a 6-year-old

boy, stephen romerromero, shot killed is speaking out about the loss of his son. he tells us three members of the romero family were shot. the boy was taken to st. louise hospital where he died. his mother and grandmother also among those shot. they're still recovering at a san jose hospital this morning. stephen's father says his son just celebrated his birthday at legoland. he's heartbroken. >> i lost my son. there's nothing i really can do because try to be with him so i could put him in his resting spot. >> police are still at the scene this morning. fbi agents involved as we've been showing you in live pictures. we are expecting another news conference. we should learn more at 10:00 this morning, live on air and online. follow us nbcbayarea.com, for the very latest updates. 6:38 for you right now. let's get a check of the traffic

for you. it's been an issue in one part of the bay area this morning. >> the tri-valley, parts of the east bay really seeing the biggest of the issues this morning. as we've been watching the area westbound 580, where it meets up with 205, coming out of mountain house into tracy as well as into the bay area, there was a big rig crash earlier this morning. that has since been cleared, but there's still a really big backup just coming across the altamont pass, and as we look at our transit delays, there are no delays this morning, so that may be a better alternative for you, if you're going to be headed out on the roads from that area, but other than that, we do still have some smooth drive times, and a pretty good flow of westbound 80 across the bay bridge. it's at about 17 minutes, and then also looking at westbound 92, san mateo bridge, about 19 minutes and the dumbarton bridge at 11 minutes. we're going to continue to watch that as well as a couple of

other minor issues in the east bay, and then as we head into the weekend, it's going to be starting to warm up, so we're starting to make plans already. all right? >> always looking forward to the weekend weather. it was so warm this last weekend. you see the sun is up, feels like it's going to look warm. >> it looks like it's going to be a warm day but a lot cooler compared to the hot weather we had over the weekend. in some of our inland areas are going to reach into the mid 80s today. some lower 80s tomorrow, and then also going to see our weather warming up in time for the weekend. so if you're making weekend plans, it will be hot. just not as hot as it was this past weekend. for san francisco, expect some 60s all throughout the weekend, upper 60s for the weekend. if you're making weekend plans to head to santa cruz, it is looking nice, with some mid-70s, a few clouds in the mix. in the sierra, that's a live look at squaw valley, and we'll see the highs warming up into the upper 70s for saturday, and

the time is 6:44, as you get ready to head out in the south bay, it's a beautiful sunrise and mostly clear skies and even though it looks warm, we had a hot weekend, it won't be as hot today. we'll go from the low 50s in campbell to the mid-70s by early this afternoon. we already have a big backup at the bay bridge toll plaza. as you get ready to head out on the roads, plan a lot of extra time to get through this. a look at our drive times quickly through the east bay,

from southbound 680 from 580 to vargas road it's about 17 minutes and southbound 880 from 238 to highway 84 it's about 18 minutes. we'll get a look at the rest of our commute, that's coming up in about five minutes. >> thank you so much, kari. quarter to 7:00 right now. back to breaking news we're continuing to follow. a shooting rampage at the gilroy garlic festival. we are hearing from witnesses who were inside the festival during those terrifying moments. patri patrice waugh was one of them, getting a sandwich from a vendor. >> she ran with a 4-year-old child and her husband safety hiding out in a trailer. then this happened. we staying in the trailer. as soon as we tried to come out of the trail earl, there were more rounds fired.

as soon as we tried to come out of the trailer, there were more rounds fired. so we went right back into the trailer and we stayed there until it absolutely stopped. once it stopped, again, we get out of the trailer. i go outside of the trailer, and there was a guy standing there one of the vendors, and he said "ma'am, you have a 4-year-old baby, the girl right there. please turn around and don't let her see this. there's a little boy coming. i don't want to you see it," but i couldn't turn away but i turned my baby girl away, and as i'm looking, i see this baby boy that's about the same age as my daughter. >> you can hear the terror had her voice. waugh's two other children ran to safety in another part of the park. her family is new reunited this morning. >> tragic. leaders in washington have been watching this situation in south santa clara county very carefully. scott mcgrew, i know the president was quick to respond on twitter. >> he was, tweeting out right as he got the news, let's take a look at that.

the shooter was shot and killed a minute after the incident started but police are looking for a second person that may have been involved. the governor says "this is nothing short of horrific. tonight california stands with the community. my office is monitoring the situation closely. senator willie harris "simply horrific. i'm grateful to its first responders who are on the scene in gilroy. my thoughts are with that community tonight. our country has a gun violence epidemic that we cannot tolerate." laura? >> thank you very much, scott. we're getting breaking news right now in to our newsroom. we've just confirmed the name of the gunman involved in the gilroy festival shooting, s santino william leegan.

we haven't confirmed his age just yet but confirmed from pete williams of nbc news trying to find out who the gunman is and now to try to understand a motive. >> creating the terror throughout the gilroy garlic festival. police taking him down within a minute of him setting off the gunfire, shooting people, killing three there at the festival. certainly just a horrific day, the terror that really plagued the entire community from the shots. >> he snuck into the festival. he cut through a fence, went into the festival, where we've been reporting there are thousands of people in the gilroy garlic festival over the weekend and we know how he opened fire and police shooting him as well. we'll try to get more information on him. fog tllowing developments o of the north bay spanning across the atlantic ocean. two recent high school graduates are in custody in italy. >> they're accused in the deadly stabbing of a police officer. "today in the bay's" pete suratos joins us live in mill valley outside the school where

those students both attended. pete? >> reporter: the funeral for that officer actually took place in italy this morning. we've been showing our viewers all morning morning video from that place near that officer's hometown of naples. the officer killed was police officer mario rega, taking place at the same church he was married at last month. the latest info we get from italian authorities, they say 19-year-old finnegan lee elder and 18-year-old gabriel hjorth, alumni from tamalpais tried to extort 100 euros and a gram of cocaine from an italian man they claimed ripped them off in a drug deal. plain clothed police officers arrived at this drop-off site to confront the two suspects, italian police say they struggled with officers when rega was stabbed and killed. police say the two bay area men apparently ran back to their hotel, packed their bags and were ready to leave the country

before they were arrested. but this isn't the only investigation that's under way. look at pictures emerging showing hjorth blind-folded and handcuffed while being interrogated by police in italy. italian police quickly responding to the pictures saying they distance themselves from the release and disclosure from the photos and carrying out an investigation as we speak into this matter. now as both of these investigations play out, neighbors from one of the suspects had this to say. >> i've never seen him violent. i've never seen him so much as push or hit anybody or yell. i've never heard him yell. >> reporter: now police documents say the pair confessed to the stabbing but blamed each other during the interrogation and under italian law, anyone who participates in the killing can be charged with murder, but but the two suspects will remain in custody until a preliminary investigation is complete. we're live here in mill valley, pete suratos for "today in the bay." >> thanks for the latest, pete.

6:r50 right now. what can we expect from the weather? the sunrise, beautiful start to the day. >> we'll have beautiful weather across the bay area. looking forward to cooler temperatures after a hot weekend. let's look at our temperature trend as you get ready to head out the door in fremont. upper 50s now, and then leading into some mid-70s throughout the day. as we get a look at our high temperatures for this afternoon, san francisco stays in the mid-60s, but there will be a stronger breeze pushing in today, cooling down the inland valleys. yesterday we had a lot of highs over 100 degrees in the east bay, as well as the north bay. today in napa, we're headed up to 82 degrees, while antioch tops out at 87. also 87 in morgan hill today with the south bay in the lower 80s. what's happening here? we've seen a very strong area of high pressure across the desert southwest, but that's going to be moving away, allowing for a storm system across the pacific northwest to give us a stronger ocean breeze. we'll also see the return of our

cooling fog and so that's going to push into the inland valleys, and bring our highs into the low 80s. we're looking at highs today up to 85 degrees, and then 83 degrees tomorrow. some upper 80s for wednesday, but then as we head toward the end of the week, it still looks nice. it will heat up again this weekend with some low 90s, but at least we're not talking about upper 90s and certainly not 100 degrees. while san francisco stays in the 60s, all throughout the week. as we get a live look outside in dublin, if you're headed through the tri-valley, it's flowing well on 580, going east and westbound through dublin, but we've seen a lot of problems, so as we get to our traffic maps, we've seen a couple of those issues for the tri-valley, or at least getting into the tri-valley. earlier there was a slowdown here. we were tracking this just out the fremont and now northbound 880, this is not the commute direction, but we are seeing fremont boulevard, there is a crash there. so far, not causing a lot of problems. and then as you are headed westbound on 580, still some

garlic festival. just a few moments ago, a federal source confirmed to nbc news the gunman is identified as s santino william legan. we don't have his age or where he lives but we're working to get that information. authorities did kill him during the rampage. three victims were killed, including a 6-year-old boy. the number of injured is 12. police should give us another update at 10:00 a.m. early this morning, authorities surrounded a home in one gilroy neighborhood. >> it's not clear if this massive presence there is linked to the shooting rampage, but our "today in the bay's" ali wolf is there. ali, anything new since we last spoke to you? >> reporter: laura, not much news since we just talked to you about 30 minutes ago. we arrived here about 40 minutes ago and it was shortly after we pulled up that we saw four police vehicles surround this home here in this gilroy residential street, two vehicles from gilroy police, two from the

atf. we saw atf agents walk in with evidence bags, and they have inside this house, they say, for about 20 minutes. right now, we don't know if this is connected to the gilroy shooting, but a lot of neighbors are speculating that is the case. we'll be out here to bring you more information throughout the morning. reporting live in gilroy, ali wolf fore"today in the bay." >> bob redell joins us live at the scene with more on the chilling accounts. >> according to one report, one witness shouted at the shooter, requests why are you doing this." he responded because i'm really angry. according to police and witnesses, he avoided the security checkpoint here at christmas hill park, cut a hole in the perimeter fence, went across the creek and how we entered into the northern part of the festival. people say he was dressed in camo, had a camouflage shirt, a hat, carrying a long rifle and was just shooting people at random. a woman selling honey at the
