death, and to make sure no crime was committed in her death savannah >> right our hearts are with the family of course. anne, thank you. meantime, president trump is playing down yet another provocative show of force from north korea. the regime's third missile launch in just over a week nbc's chief foreign correspondent richard engel joins us with that story good morning. >> reporter: good morning, willie president trump is brushing it off. he said he discussed with north korea's leader, kim jong-un, limiting that country's nuclear program and nuclear tests, not its short-range missiles the administration says the door to negotiation remains open. six missiles, three launches, eight days north korea has been firing salvos of short-range missiles into the sea but the pair launched overnight appear to be a new type, according to south korean officials. they flew very low, just 10

heart of the s.e.a.l.s honor code now, there are recommendations on how the culture should change by the end of next week. >> courtney, thank you very much now tense moments all caught on camera that happened in washington state a pilot forced to make an emergency landing on a highway this happened south of seattle in the middle of a busy morning commute. steve patterson now with the story behind that dramatic video. steve, good morning. >> reporter: savannah, good morning. wild story the plane flew over a patrolling state trooper who caught it on his dash cam, then blocked oncoming cars, then had to make a traffic stop he says he'll never forget it was mayday on the morning commute. a small plane forced to make an emergency landing, streaking from the sky, buzzing dangerously close to commuters, then barrelling toward oncoming traffic, turning this busy highway south of seattle into a runway.

>> i thought it was a remote control plane. as it continued, it got bigger and bigger. >> reporter: the pilot then joining commuters, trying to regain control of the plane, forced to do some evasive driving before stopping the single prop kr-2 just like everyone else. at a red light all of it caught on camera >> probably one of the most oddest days i've ever had. >> reporter: washington state trooper clint thompson is calling it maybe the most bizarre traffic stop of his 20-plus year career. like any typical traffic stop, the trooper calmly approaches from the pilot side. >> i was looking at gaps in the road, hoping it doesn't come down and hit a car. >> reporter: the pilot reported a fuel system malfunction that led to the emergency landing no one was hurt. after gladly giving up his license and registration, the pilot even got a little help pushing his plane into a nearby

. good morning. 7:26. i'm marcus washington. the chp says that a drunk driver forced a driver of a big rig to take quick action that ultimately set that big rig on its side. the crash shut down all but one lane of interstate 80 early this morning in pinole. a little before 3:00 in the morning the driver of the toyota camera fell asleep behind the wheel in the slow lane and the car came to a halt. the oncoming big rig swerved out of the way, causing it to overturn. arriving chp officers found the driver of the camry still passed out in his car and he says he had been drinking. he is now in custody. no other cars were involved and neither driver was injured. let's look at the weather

good morning. 8:56 right now. an update on what turned out to be a bizarre deputy shooting last night in santa rosa happened at 9th and morgan streets. the deputy shot a shoplifting suspect at least three times while the suspect was inside the deputy's car. investigators tell us the suspect first tried to stab a security guard in the face at a nearby shopping mall.

the deputy soon located that suspect and used a taser but had no effect. the suspect eventually got into the cruiser and allegedly lunged at the deputy with that knife. the suspect is expected to survive. a man accused in a deadly random stabbing at a bart station is expected in court today, a plea hearing scheduled for john lee koul accused of killing an 18-year-old on the platform at the bart station and seriously injuring her sister last july. last month the judge ruled koul was mentally competent to stand trial. happening now, we'll go to the courthouse for the midday newscast. as soon as we get an update we'll post that on the twitter feed as well. officers whose patrol car crashed during a high speed chase in san jose, the driver they were chasing got away. find the whole story on our home page. we are here to discuss jessie's online time.
