showed up for a candlelight memorial on the steps of st. joseph church. they called for an end to gun violence. >> we will begin this journey together as one voice of hope and faith and love to end gun violence in this country. >> all this killing and no one speaking out for it. no one coming out. it's only going to change when we, the people, demand the change. >> this was a vigil for keyla. making a statement before a town hall meeting yesterday, a congressman said it was up to congress and the senate to do something to stop gun violence. for anyone impacted by the shooting, counseling services will be available all this week between 4:00 in the afternoon and 8:00 in the evening at gilroy high school. for all of those still looking to collect missing items left

behind at the park last sunday, a property return site is opening today. many people left behind items like cellphones, wallets and backpacks. the return center is at the wheeler community center on sixth street. it's open from 11:00 this morning until 7:00 tonight. new this morning, a chase leads to a deadly crash in napa. it started around 7:30 last night when police were called about the driver pass the oed o. when emts showed up, the driver woke up and took off. officers tried to pull the car over. the driver did not stop. a spike strip was deployed. the driver swerved to avoid it. that's when the driver lost control and flipped the car. the driver and a passenger were taken to the hospital where a passenger died. those people have not been identifies. to the wildfire season and the rush to prepare before the next one. as you know, pg & e plans to shut down power in certain areas

when the fire danger is high enough. santa rosa leaders want people to be prepared knowing what to do and what to have if power is down for an extended time. a city council study session begins at 2:30 this afternoon. watch it on the city's social media pages. the giants start aid nine game home stretch which could boost their wild card chances. things will have to go differently than last night. timing is everything. the giants were shut out 4-0. they have lost four of five. coming up, it was a bad day for investors on wall street, frankly, americans in general saw the biggest losses yesterday for all of 2019. the trade war between the u.s. and china becomes red hot. why maybe there's a little bit of optimism this morning.

good morning. here are today's top business headlines. wall street is looking to recover some of yesterday's big losses. the worst day of the year for the markets. the dow down 767. at some points it had been down more than 900. it's the sixth worse point drop for the dow. it was sparked by trade tensions between the u.s. and china, starting with president trump last week threatening a new round of tariffs on chinese made goods. beijing responded by allowing its currency to break through a psychological level with the dollar that was last seen in 2008. it looks like things are stabilizing today. asian markets declined overnight. we are seeing green arrows with the dow futures up 148 points.

ba it will operate its flagship store in manhattan and seven others, including in san francisco, while it seeks a buyer. the ceo says it was hurt by the downturn in retail and by high rent. the federal reserve is developing a new system to allow all u.s. banks to offer real time payment services 24 hours a day, seven days a week. the fed is expected to be available by 2023 at the earliest. initially, it will support money transfers up to $25,000. that service could make managing budgets easier for lots of people in small businesses. it would also put the fed at odds with big banks who have been developing their own payment system. >> so many different ones. thank you. coming up, a look at the forecast. >> it's going to be heating up today. still clouds rolling by as we

especially inland with our temperatures heating up once again. a live look outside in san francisco. still seeing that fog lingering over the city. it will be very slow to clear, if at all. this is a live look outside in fremont. you get ready to head out the door, check out our temperature trend for today with low 60s at 5:00. then leading into the low 70s by 11:00 and the morning looks good with just a few clouds in the mix through 9:00. the seven-day forecast is up at the bottom of the screen showing no major changes for san francisco. the south bay will have a cooldown heading toward the end of the week of the right now, we are in with warm weather. slightly above normal, reaching 85 in downtown san jose. morgan hill, up to 87 degrees. some upper 80s for of the east bay. even low 90s in danville, conco concord. oakland is in the low 70s. san mateo, a high of 79.

up into the mid 90s for clearlake. as you get dressed this morning, you need something that's going to keep you cool. it's feeling like summer out there. maybe something lightweight and light colored will help you cool down throughout the day. we still are tracking the pollen. moderate on the tree pollen. everything else is low. as we go into the next several days, we will have this subtropical moisture and cooling us down as we start to see an area of low pressure moving in by the end of the week. which means a stronger ocean breeze. that will bring highs down into the low 80s. a warm weekend ahead into the upper 80s. we have good progress. this is bad as far as the crash. north 101 was closed. you see cleanup is going on. they had an overturned vehicle.

no major injuries from what we understand. two people were taken away. we saw this honda as well as another pickup at the scene as our photographer was covering that. we had oil or some sort of fluid across the freeway by a big rig. that was cleaned up. they have reopened all lanes of northbound 101. all traffic now starting to quickly recover, traveling north. if you have an early flight, you are okay now getting over there. no problem for 101. this will be clear by the time you get there. a smoother drive on the free way. we are tracking what was the issue over there. i have to give a shoutout to the firefighters. there was no fire, but they laid down the absorbent. we didn't need the sweeper. it's open for 101 and the rest of the free wways are moving smoothly. back to you. new this morning in the east bay, a woman died following an early morning crash.

video of the scene just in. this happened on highway 580. the chp says the woman veered off the road, hit a tree. they are trying to figure out why. things are back to normal this morning after a bomb scare in san francisco. >> a suspicious package. rd to lockdown. here is what someone at one business had to say. >> they blocked everything. they told us get out or stay in and lock the doors. >> we don't know a lot about the investigation yet. we can tell you that one man was questioned. no one was arrested. no explosive device was found. the fbi was called in.

>> jean was tweeting updates while this was breaking. 4:52. the fire that started over the weekend near clayton and forced some evacuations is still not fully contained this morning. it started near marsh creek road. that road is back open. some people wonder if the fires may have been set on purpose because firefighters are talking about several points of origin. a cause has not been determined. people in a south bay neighborhood leaning on one another for support after a devastating fire there. a grandmother was killed. her 12-year-old granddaughter is in critical condition. the fire started around 7:30 yesterday morning. firefighters say the grandmother, who was asleep smoke inhalation.
