photographers iscross freeway. just getting a few more details running around the news room. all the lights, you fire trucks, they are blocking the roadway because they have to take care of the tractor trailer. it looks like there may have been live chickens in there and some may have fallen off the back of the truck. what i am hearing is that the fire was at the over crossing. they can't open the freeway until they get the okay. here are all the flashing lights directing traffic off the freeway at san pablo, and then back on the freeway. even though it looks like a simple move, with the volume of traffic coming off the carquinez

bridge, we see the backup here. getting past san pablo road and it gets on to freeway past the scene and everything is okay once you past that. if you jump on the freeway in towards the bay bridge, that's clear. backup at the lighter to the right. a light commute coming out of the altamont pass. >> as you are heading out this morning from the north bay, we're looking at patchy fog. we are feeling this all across the bay area this morning. we will have lower humidity, and we have some low 70s at 10:00 in danville, reaching into the

upper 70s for parts of the tri-valley as well as the south bay by noon. we will have a warm day for the inland area as well, and we will get a closer look at the forecast and what is ahead for the weekend, and that's coming up in a few minutes. happening today, sonoma county emergency teams will test some of the county's warning alert systems. the testing starts at 10:00 this morning. it will end a little after 11:00. they plan to send phone and text alerts living towns. opera star of sexual harassment. domingo is currently the director of los angeles opera. several women accused the 78-year-old of sexual allegatio unwanted touching and requests

for private get-togethers and late-night phone calls and attempting to kiss them on the lips. this is video of a rescue that happened yesterday around noon off highway 101 near ikea and east palo alto. crews used one truck as a makeshift crane to lift that man from the crane. they then placed him in the metal basket and brought him back to the ground. no word on how that victim ended up atop of the billboard or where he is right now. police in pittsburg showing off a lot of money. the security guard was caught on camera stealing $4,000 from the recycling center's cashbox. investigators say the guard admitted to the theft and returned $3,000 before officers arrested him.

rhet marietta and riverside county. happening right now on the east coast, hurricane dorian is battering the carolinas. a lot of rain coming down. they have gusty winds. dorian was slowly inching towards charleston. take a look at this radar, in fact. that massive hurricane churning out there and hugging the coastline and lashing the region with rain, wind, storm surge and all the flooding.

more is on the way, and that's how it works with the outer bands of the storms, you will get a section of rain and then it clears up. look, this storm lost some of its energy as it left the bahamas. it has reorganized and it's much stronger and intensifying and it's a category 3 hurricane. looks like it's targeting this area right now in the u.s. dorian is battering the atlantic coast. high winds. driving rain and a vicious storm surge. the hurricane clinging to the shoreline and gaining strength and taking aim at the carolinas where it could make a second landfall by the end of the week. the greatest threats are to the coastal communities and inland

hopefully, finally this unpredictable system turns out into the atlantic. >> yeah, it has been such a slow-moving storm, and we are sending some of our local crews from the bay area to assist in some of the recovery efforts. as we see the storm churning off the coast, it's close to savannah and moving over towards the south carolina coast. we are still tracking this very strong category 3 hurricane, and it will start to move off towards the north and east. that's good news as we bring you back home, heading out the door this morning in palo alto. we are seeing some of the traffic issues out there on 101. mike is continuing to keep an eye on that. we have low 60s as you head out the door temperature wise, and mostly clear skies. we are going to make it into the mid-70s by noon today, and a nice day ahead.

we're up to 90 in antioch, and oakland will see a high of 75 degrees. 84 in san jose. san francisco reaching into the upper 60s with the north bay reaching 96 degrees. as we look at the big map, you see the green sensors around most of the bay. that's what everybody experts at 5:09. we do have a little backup at the bay bridge. it's lighter because of the crash here, westbound 80 is basically shutdown at san pablo dam road. you want to make your way over towards san pablo avenue, and it's a major surface street getting a major amount of traffic. bay folks are com bridge. right here is the that

view from san francisco. starting out foggy and nice and cool this morning. it's going to be drizzling there for a while and some clearing heading into late morning and the afternoon. we will give you a look at the forecast for the south bay heading out to diridon station. the rest of the day it feels ay want to take your lunch outside, and it will be 77 degrees. leaving out the door in antioch, it's feeling warmer. 65 degrees. we will have a warm afternoon. there we are in the low 80s by lunchtime. we will see the high temperature in the south bay reaching up to 86 degrees in east san jose, and 89 in gilroy. martinez at 85 degrees. reaching 62 at half moon bay, and san mateo, a high of 76 degrees, and mostly 60s in san francisco and the north bay, reaching up to 85 in sonoma.

as we go through the forecast for the weekend, we are going to see an approaching storm system that will help cool us off and brings in a strong ocean breeze. no rain or anything like that expected, so we will have nice outdoor weather, and it gives us a little filtered sunshine. by next week that storm system moved on and our temperatures starts to warm back up. mid-80s today and tomorrow with saturday being the coolest day of our forecast with a few more clouds. san francisco is in the 60s throughout the next several days. and mike, you are starting with the truck fire. >> ye but a big issue for the morning commute. you look at the live picture with the flashing lights, and you see chp, fire crews. it's right here, the silhouette of a tractor trailer which looks like cages on the back.

we did zoom in and see more detail, and i don't want to show it to you but it looks like there was live chickens on the back of the truck. that will be one issue, the trailer and what it was carrying. the tractor was taken away, and it was smoldering. and there's a flatbed tow truck taking some of this away. and then you get off and back on san pablo. near the off-ramp is where the fire was. the backup holding steady just before you get to hilltop drive. that's the major roadway which will be your alternate right now, but it's already flooded with traffic. just to make sure there was no damage, that may hold things up

until a crew gets there and does that investigation. that will jam folks upcoming out of the north bay. some folks may choose to take this over and eventually getting over to highway 101 because the jam may get worse quickly over the next half hour heading over to the richmond bridge. through the north bay, highway 37, that will be an easier drive for those folks at the bay bridge toll plaza. a little backup building on highway 4, and you can see coming over on the lanes auoff the right, everybody is coming off of the maze just fine. the rest of the bay looks great. no problems. slowing in the south bay starts

good morning. we begin with breaking news for you at 5:30. a fiery crash. >> a truck filled with live chickens caught fire and caused a lot of problems. mike has been monitoring this since we came on the air at 4:30. >> we have been monitoring it since before we got on the air this morning. we saw the silhouette of what looked like cages that were holding the live chickens. over here on the hillside we saw flashlights up and down the embankment, and it looked like the fire crew were helping to retrieve some of the chickens that ran away on to the side. that was going on. you saw behind me, the over crossing right there. that's the san pablo road over

crossing, and folks were forced off the highway and back on behind me. that what you see here, the over crossing had to be inspected for fire damage. westbound 80 completely closed and that held up traffic until just about three minutes ago when the bay bridge toll plaza finally filled in. the rest of the east bay, you might see a lighter flow of traffic. see all these r before and that will be your alternate down to san pablo dam road. the surface streets will be crowded. anywhere south of the bay bridge just fine. your typical light morning commute, and the weather is something we can look forward to, kari. >> it's going to be a nice day.

kris sanchez is joining us live with what we know so far. >> we know the accusations are very serious, and a former teacher talked with our unit exclusively, said somebody is changing grades to boost graduation rates, and that teacher told oakland unified she knows at least eight students had their grades changed and they graduated, though they failed required coursework. >> they were given the grade of an f and when i went back into the database right before graduation or right after to get the diploma. >> one retake failed classes online, however three other teachers told us they saw passing grades for incomplete work, and students passing despite showing the equivalent of a couple day's work and not the equivalent of
