we'll look at what's ahead for the a deadly crash. >> i adeadly crash on the east shore freeway. i'm showing you the bay bridge toll plaza because our camera sees the area around powell. we can't make out any problems. we're swinging our camera around the emeryville side east shore freeway, see what we can see. i'm told all lanes of westbound 80 at powell are blocked, the same direction as yesterday's problem way up here in san pablo. san pablo is clear but powell coming through berkeley and emeryville, word is they just closed the lanes for a deadly crash on the east shore freeway approaching the bay bridge. we'll track that. traffic is light but a closure of that freeway will be a major problem again today. we'll bring you more detail coming up. backewsight now in the south bay where one woman has died in a mobile home fire. it started a little before midnight at a mobile home park in san jose on el bosk drive

south of highway 237 close to the al viso salt pond. firefighters confirm one death. neighbors say the person who lived there is a disabled elderly woman and say anotherer. inside made it out in time. bob redell is following the story and will join us with a live report at the top of the hour. we're following reaction and fallout after the verdict in the ghost ship warehouse fire trial. >> families of the victims are in shock. jurors aquitted so the called mpbd man max harris on all charges. harris walked out of jail yesterday a free man. the jury could not reach a verdict on the charges against master tenant derick almena. ten jurors thought he was guilty but there were two holdouts. we don't know what the hung jury will mean. prosecutors are expected to try next month to re-try him or strike a plea deal. victims and families will be able to move forward with a civil suit against the city, the

building owner and pg&e. >> but yesterday's outcome opens the door to many possibilities. "today in the bay's" sergio quintana takes a closer look at what may come next. >> reporter: fresh flowers were placed. the trial is over but nbc bay area legal analyst dean john son says most of the people who took the stand will likely have to go through this process all over again. >> no matter what happens in this criminal trial this is not over. there's a civil trial pending in which all of the people said to be responsible for this horrible tragedy are going to be in the same courtroom. >> reporter: private attorney mary alexander described her client's civil case. they're going after the city of oakland. >> the city knew, the police knew, firemen knew that this place had people living in it, that they were using it like a cabaret, that there were events that were happening, and they failed to stop it.

>> reporter: they're suing the owners of the building. alexander says they should have made sure the property was safe and going after pg&e because the ghost ship imer if know possibly started as an electrical fire. nbc bay area legal analyst dean johnson says the judge or jury in the civil case will be making an important decision. >> there are many more ghost ships out there. there are many more tragedies like this, waiting to happen, because of the way our economy works here in the bay area, because we're creating so many homeless people. >> that was sergio quintana reporting. we have more coverage ahead at 5:00. emeryville this morning, where all lanes of westbound 80 are shut down due to a deadly crash. mike is monitoring the latest. he'll join us in just moments. get ready for a loud opening night at san francisco's new chase center. tonight the new warriors arena will open. metallica taking to the stage along with the san francisco symphony. if you're going to the hoe you may want to take b.a.r.t. or ride share. there are only 900 parking spots at chase center and spo at ucsf parking lot across the street. apparently they're off limits to the so-called regular joes or josephines so make sure you plan ahead. >> hmm. >> probably wish you could do more planning this morning but along westbound 80 it's shut down. >> same freeway yesterday but yesterday was san pablo. today it's a person involved from what we understand, not chickens. headlights coming toward us the

bay bridge, this is westbound 80, east shore freeway. at the bottom of the screen we have the flares laid out across the freeway blocking off all westbound lanes. they're releasing a few lanes here. we'll get details from chp but look at the backup through berkeley and in to emeryville. frontage road was always accessible. ashby avenue folks getting off the freeway and traveling down this frontage road, one or two lanes and it is a small wood way. if folks are in a rush the high rate of speed could be a danger zone. warning folks traveling west coming out of richmond, san pablo in to berkeley you'll have a big backup, quickly building not yet to golden gate field. if that is the case when you get there, use your patience. looks like a few lanes of westbound 80 reopened but the frontage road ashby avenue use good caution over there. folks will be rushing around. you can enter back on at paul because that long on-ramp takes

you past that crash. once you're past that scene, everything is fine at the bay bridge toll plaza. the approach is through the maze and coming out of the rest of contra costa fine. coming down off the carquinez bridge everything is smooth into richmond and you're jamming up at powell, where it looks like all but one lane are currently blocked because of the deadly crash and investigation. the rest of the bay shows a smooth drive as we would expect at this time on our friday, big suook inan going to see temperatures reaching into the low 60s as you across the bay in antioch we're head out the door, and then gradually warming up. we will see our warmup happening a lot more slowly. we'll be at 77 at 11:00. our south bay temperatures reaching 86 in morgan hill, with los gatos up to 83 degrees. we're going to see a high of 87 in concord today, it's going to feel much nicer with some cooler air moving in, but it will stay foggy and windy in half moon bay with a high of 64 there.

palo alto gets some clearing and we'll see temperatures in the upper 70s. in san francisco, expect a high of about 66 on the embarcadero and the north bay at about 83 in sonoma and clearlake reaching 90 degrees. our weather setup shows some cooling temperatures and also more clouds, as we go through tomorrow. looks like it does start out with some mostly cloudy skies and it will in some spots especially aening lot coastline be drizzling at times. going into next week that low moves out. we'll have slight warming but there will still be storm systems to our north to keep it from heating up hot. so we're looking at some milder weather in the forecast. enjoy tonight out in campbell with the first friday, live music happening, starting at 5:0. it will be at about 75 degrees. looking at our inland forecast, we have some low 80s expected today. tomorrow is the coolest day in the forecast, reaching 79 degrees. we'll see some low 80s on sunday and then reach back into the mid 80s by the middle of next week. we will be heating up while san

"the press democrat" reports pg&e attorneys are appealing a decision that would allow for a jury to weigh potential damages against utility. that decision green lights a potentialiveily suit even though the utility is bankrupt. cal fire concluded private equipment not operated by pg&e started the fire. the plaintiffs filing suit want to challenge that conclusion. a former bay area football star is now a suspect in a million-dollar cell phone robbery ring. isaiah langley is among 12 people charged in the crime spree. robbers were holding up u.p.s. and fedex drivers making deliveries at cell phone stores. the group could be responsible for more than 60 robberies in the past nine months in the bay area and central valley.

langley was with the raiders briefly this year and also a graduate of foothill high school in pleasanton. the search is upon for aana berkeley. police released surveillance video showing the man they believe was involved. he groped a woman while she was drinking from a water fountain last month in the student union building. 4:51. summer camp that brings together california inmates with their children is proving to be a big turning point for some men. >> at camp grace, children spend a week with their fathers, activities include a party for the birthdays missed and talk about having loved ones in prison and they paint murals with images of what a perfect day might be with a father and his "today in the bay" show anchor craig melvin spoke with inmates and the warden. >> the warden at the prison told me that this is a program that actually makes the prison safer, because you have a lot of guy who are basically sta the storyt
