in the lobby of her building. this is next door to a navigation center being built. despite protests from neighbors. the hearing takes place at 9:00 this morning. reporting live, today in the bay. 5:02 right now. decision 2020 and in just a few hours, president trump arrived in the bay area. the white house says he will go straight to a roundtable discussion and luncheon. protesters say they intend to follow. this comes after trump held a campaign rally last night. >> two big democratic states back to back.

clear skies and we don't even see fog at the golden gate bridge this morning. it will stay clear. take a look at the seven-day forecast. it's up at the bottom of the screen. we're going to see our start this morning in pleasant hill in the mid-50s and leading into the mid-70s by early afternoon. let's go hour by hour for our microclimates. we're at 64 in oakland. and at lunchtime, we're at 76 in danceville. only a few spots reach the low 80s today. and mostly 70s with sunshine. i think this is going to be pretty perfect. but also a lot of pollen. mostly we have some elm tree pollen floating through the air. everything else is pretty low. i'm tracking our next weather system that will be set to move in tomorrow. it's not moving across the

pacific northwest. it could bring in another chance of rain starting with sunshine today. seeing the system moving to the east t will push a few spotty showers across the bay area tomorrow morning. and then as we go to the afternoon, it will be clearing out. so as we go through the time line today, we're all clear. then going hour by hour, as we start to see the clouds approach during the early morning hours, we could see some rain in parts of sonoma county by 5:00 in the morning and then going to see a breaking up and et ging very spotty. still the chance to see some rain once again for the muld of the workweek. and it's mostly for the north bay. while we'll see our highs in the 70s. it will be breezy and cloudy. and we're heading back to summer. we'll be in the 80s and 90s. as high pressure rolls in, it's going to heat up our temperatures for san francisco. you're seeing some delays.

wetlands. it's a symptom of a bigger problem we all face. >> and as kari hall tells us, in a matter of decades, thousands of homes in the bay area may be submerged. >> this morning, i want to take a look at one example of rising sea levels. let me take you to the bayous of louisiana where there's real concern right now this is an area where sugar cane grows abundantly and oil is siphoned from the gulf. i dug into data and it says the louisiana wetlands could disappear in 200 years and as of last year, noaa says the sea level around the state is about 24 inches higher than it was in 1950. so what does that mean for us here? rising sea levels could bring its own set of consequences. a report by the union of concerned scientists says if the

climate conditions continue in about three decades from now, homes in alameda, foster city, east palo al to are most at ri for flooding by the year 2045, 13,000 homes across the bay area could flood every other week, according to that group. so i spoke with the "today" show's al roker who has been in greenland reporting on the climate crisis and he says this could be a matter of national security. >> the department of defense said on both coasts, and also the gulf coast, for this country when you talk about lclimate change, it's the number one threat to homeland security. you look at any military installations along california's coast. they are subject to ocean levels. and are they hardened for that. probably not. >> let me give you one more statistic. by 2100, homes along the coast

good tuesday morning to you. taking a live look outside at san francisco. a beautiful way to wake up this morning at 5:30. thank you for starting your morning with today in the bay. i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia. let's get a a look at the forecast. a little cooler this morning. >> cooler, it almost looks like the rain that we had yesterday kind of washed off the cameras. everything looks really crisp and clear as you get ready to head out. that's a live look at emeriville this morning. as we look at our high temperatures, it's going to be amazing today. upper 70s and low 80s in the inland areas. the coast in the 60s with breezy winds and sunny ies. i'll talk about the weekend forecast and you're seeing changes at the bay bridge. we have slowing tz causing

slowing, but it just got over to the the center. that may affect some folks. there's another crash coming up after you. >> in just a a few hours, president trump arrives in the bay area for a fundraiser. bob redell joining us live in mountain view this morning. air force one will land. now the president has been here so before bob, what make this is visit so significant? >> reporter: this is the first time president trump is visiting the area since he was elected to office. the white house saws he will go from the field behind me in mountain view to a roundtable discussion in palo alto. staff is not giving out that location. that's a private event. we believe the white house is being vague in order to throw off the protesters. this is what happened the last time trump visited the bay area in 2016 for a campaign rally. hundreds of people protested

outside that venue. actually delayed trump's awe rival forting him to go through a back entrance. protesters are gearing up. you can see them testing out the inflatable trump chicken. some have been look iing for th location so they can stand outside and make their presence known. >> we will not forgive or forget. we will boycott their businesses. >> i'm super excited that president trump is holding a campaign event here in california. i have a number of friends who are attend iing the event. >> the white house says president trump will only be i the bay area for a total of three hours before leaving for los angeles. bob redell, today in the the bay. >> should be a quick trip. on the democratic side, beto o'rourke is coming to the bay area tomorrow. he originally planned to visit

in august but he cancelled the trip after the mass shooting in his hometown of el paso, texas. he plans to visit the prison and then have a discussion about equity and justice. the city of san jose may be ready to make a big move to cut emissions and that could change the way we heat homes or cook our meals. chris sanchez is joining us with the details to move to go electric. >> reporter: the mayor and some of the council members want new construction going forward to use electricity instead of natural gas. this would all be an effort to cut greenhouse gas emissions. san jose is expected to propose that ban on natural gas and new construction in favor of electric infrastructure. it would only apply to new construction and in the beginning would only apply to single family homes and small multiunit housing.

the city did the same thing requiring electricity and residential construction starting in the new year, but with the promise to ban natural gas and commercial and large real estate developments in years to come. according to natural resources defense council, buildings emit 25% or more greenhouse gases here in california. a poin opponents say we could expect higher heating costs. the mayor will announce the specifics by 12:15 this afternoon. san jose would be the largest in the country to ban in new construction. but a lot of cities are locking at this. today in the bay. >> happening today, ed a advoca plan to discuss how the rising costs of living impacts teachers.

a recent report found san jose to be the second worst city in the country when it comes to affordability. a teacher would have to spend more than 63% of pay to get housing right now. . a new teacher would have to spend 91%. a supervisor will moderate a panel to talk about possible solutions. the town hall begins at 5:00 at the santa clara county office of education. it's 5:35. a deadly boating accident left a prominent businessman and father in custody. the family lives in an exclusive belvedere neighborhood. that's where yesterday police searched the home of javier. his 11-year-old son died after falling out of the family boat. the other son also fell in the water and was also hit by the

boat. he suffered leg injuries. authorities not only believe he was behind the wheel, but he was operating it while intoxicated. and a followup for you now. an exposed gas pipeline that's raising concerns among activists. . that pipeline located at the ravine at the regional park, that group showed us a photo of that pipe last week. now the deputy fire chief reportedly is responding. he tells the east bay times he's concerned about the pipe because it's located in a high fire hazard zone. also believed someone is walking on the pipeline could weaken. the pipe is safe and the utility tells us there are no concerns or reason for concerns. 5:36 this morning. elsewhere leaders in pleasant hill are asking supervisors to keep an old library open until a

new one can be built. >> there was a resolution supporting the plan. they are asking to hold off on demoll herbing the current library which sits on county-owned land. developers would build three dozen new homes and a park. it's a plan neighbors support. but the new library won't be ready for two years and neighbors would rather not be without one. >> it's the most heavily populated in the county. we have people from walnut creek. >> last night's vote does not equate to a stay for the old library. the final say rests with supervisors. happening today, the wait is over for shark fans. hockey is back. tonight they drop the puck for the first preseason game. the sharks will take on anaheim. they led by a new captain this year. it's logan couture. he's replacing a fan favorite.

>> it's going to be warmer this upcoming weekend. so as we make plans, you may want to make your plans accordingly. we do have some upper 80s and low 90s in the inland valleys. sunshine and highs in the 70s. so where are we going? how about the trivalley. it's going to be very warm there with a high of 86 degrees on friday. saturday is the warmest day reaching 91 degrees. and 88 will be that high on sunday afternoon. if we're going to the sierra, lake tahoe is going to be perfect. how about 62 for the high temperature on friday. 68 degrees on saturday. and we also have some great weather. but quite warm as we reach up to 90 degrees this saturday. we'll have a a look at the

new overnight, the chp is investigating a deadly accident on highway 92. that's where someone walking along the roadway was struck and killed. this happened a little before midnight not far from near construction closure. authorities say the victim died at the scene and the driver is cooperating with investigators. still not clear why that person was walking on the highway. 5:44. a high speed police pursuit ends in gun fire. the video we're about to show you may be disturbing. a look at this chopper video show iing the chase. it happened yesterday morning when police responsibilitied to a hit-and-run. the mini van at times traveling at speeds topping 100 miles an hour. now a police fired at the van shattering the window. that's when officers surrounded the vehicle and removed the suspect. he was shot several times, but is expected to survive. people in one san jose neighborhood are demanding change to an area where they say car crashes are becoming all too

the president's arrival in mountain view. he will have more about the visit coming up. we don't think the president will make any sort of speech or announcement, but the white house has been telegraphing some kind of upcoming big move on homelessness. "the washington post" was the first to report if looking for a legal justification to raise homeless encampments and move the homeless to federally owned facilities. ben carson will be through town travel iing separately from the president. the announcement could come from his office. the ball is with carson. the president in a tough place over the strike on saudi oil production. the u.s. is locked and loaded. but he also wants out of the the middle east. even if he later said he never said that. he's also continuing to get

criticism for a tweet over the weekend. where he seemed to imply the united states was waiting for instructions from the kingdom of saudi arabia. writing we are waiting to hear from the kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack and under what terms we would proceed. u.s. congressman from new jersey said it's obviously wrong to allow saudi arabia to dictate foreign policy. two other things to watch today. the da spped trump's state tax returns and business records looking for falsification tied to the secret payment. and former trump campaign manager will testify before the house judiciary committee in what is fundamentally an impeachment hearing in spirit. we'll be tweeting about it. you can follow me on twitter.

this tuesday morning, it feels cooler. no rain this morning. but things are going to change. breezy but a pleasant day. here's a look at the high temperature for this afternoon reaching 81 in antioch and 81 in napa today. in san jose, we're going to see a high of 7 degrees and 67 in san francisco. so we're starting out this morning with some cool temperatures, you'll probably be comfortable all throughout t day with some light long sleeves. you'll want to spend more time outside if they are going for a hike or the park. we will see some changes tomorrow. and i'm tracking the next storm system dropping in from the pacific northwest and this will also bring in another chance of rain for tomorrow morning. it looks like most of that rain
