mike, you're seeing some slowing in contra costa county. that's the only place i'm seeing slowing. mild slowing for the altamont pass. zooming the map all the way up here is northbound 680 past or including the split with 242. there is a crew in the area. the slower speedsors are registering probably because of the work going on. you have to average out for all the vehicles over the sensors and probably averaging out to the slower speed registering towards the benicia bridge. down to the bay bridge, no delays. it's about 15 minutes from highway 4 down to the berkeley curve. we have a mild backup for cash lanes this is just starting to shape up over at the toll plaza. back to you. thanks, mike. a deadly tour bus accident for a popular country singer happened on highway 46 in central california about an hour outside of st. luis obispo.

emergency responders say one person died, seven others injured. two suffering major injuries. the crew is part of the josh turner tour. his next concert is tomorrow in central washington. turner and his band were not onboard. after visiting the peninsula for a fund-raiser, president trump is taking on san francisco calling its homeless problem an environmental disaster. >> mayor london breed and others are defending the city. thom jensen with some of the comments. >> reporter: these are well documented issues, documented especially most recently in the nbc bay areae president aboard one telling reporters he will nail san francisco some time next week citingrofeces and dir needles going into the city's

waste water treatment system. he said they are in total violation. we're going to be giving them notice very soon and they have to clean it up. we can't have our cities going to hell. mayor breed defended the city's waste water treatment on twitter. the president is cutting clean air and clean water standards, restricting our ability to regulate car emissions and denying climate change even exists. he's cutting funding for homelessness and affording housing. in san francisco we're meeting the challenges on our streets. the head of the coalition on homelessness told "today in the bay" she wants the president to walk the walk not just talk and tweet. >> we're talking about the single person in the united states of america who could address this crisis and instead is sitting around whining about it, complaining about it but not doing what needs to be done to actually address the crisis.

"today in the bay's" sergio contana. >> reporter: fire engines, several residents called complaining this block smelled like gas. a team of fire department personnel came over and knockedt

we need to get out of the vta b was brought in he decided it was time to take a break from the mobile break room. >> i'm hungry now. >> reporter: fire crews were called out and determined it was an emergency. they called in more resources and went door-to-door. the residents of 16 homes were evacuated. they are still trying to figure out why the gas line sprung a leak but there was a e contractors rew digging working in the area. it sounds like they were in the process of digging a trench to lay cable. >> reporter: more than 16 homes were affected because a few blocks were closed down for emer cars because they couldn't get seet and they tol m we tried to parky and walk but theyon us walk home. they evacuated everybody from the street. >> reporter: crews were able to dig into the pavement and pinch

off the line. that's when residents were allowed to return home. the permanent fix means a section of line will have to be replaced. renters have someone to fight for them if they feel like they're being taken advantage of in what is believed to be the first anywhere in contra costa county, they have formed a union. it's meant to assist people whose rents shoot higher or they've been unfairly terminated. organizers say it will allow renters to figure out if landlords are breaking the law when it comes to evictions or rent hikes. >> we're hoping this will build tenant power in the city that's much needed. to also offer resour councilmem approving rent control and voting down in moing. someone accidentally triggered emergency alarms across parts of

balloon in san diego all caught on camera. a city councilman shot the video near his home of a hot air balloon pilot making an emergency landing. in fact the councilman says this is the second time that an out-of-control hot air balloon has landed on his street this year. the pilot safely landed in a parking lot not too far from his home and no one was injured. imagine looking out your window and saying, honey, look at this. >> must have beense launch site. >> hot air balloon parking lot. >> stopping in for a cup of coffee. all right. iced coffee today or hot? >> i think hot to start and then iced later today because we'll have a cool start and then warming up this afternoon. let's get a live look outside in san francisco with a clear start. we're going to see a little bit of fog rolling across the bay. not a whole lot here. as the seven day forecast comes

up at the bottom of the screen, check it out forou pleasant hill and head out to the b.a.r.t. station with temperatures in the upper 50s. 57 degrees at 7:00 and then going into the low 70s by 11:00 today. here is a look at our high temperatures. we're reaching 78 degrees at los gatos. in san jose up to 80 grees. some low 80s for the inland east bay. walnut creek up to 82. oakland reaching 76. and we'll see some mid to upper 70s for much of the peninsula, redwood city reaching 76 degrees. mission district today up to 70. and for the north bay we're looking at highs up to 82 in novato as well as napa. going through the forecast we are going to have a nice cool start so you do want to make sure you grab a jacket but later today enjoy extra time outside. grab the sunglasses and make sure you're wearing comfortable shoes. as we go through the forecast we'll see that area of low pressure that brought us some rain yesterday continuing to

move on. going into the weekend a slight warm y-up or a brief warm-up happens. getting hot and very dry by the middle of next week. our temperatures reach up to 81 degrees. 'rss the bay area. tuesday and wednesday very hot temperatures and dry winds that will raise the fire concerns. we'll be trackin starting to kick off from the east. >> and that's the typical pattern we're talking about, here is a portion of the earlier slowing. there's the bay, the east bay. slowing at the bay bridge toll plaza, the most visible slowing. we have crews that are going on northbound 680. we still see the slowing at 242. the crew probably won't clear up until 6:00 a.m. do plan on slight delay

traveling north and over to the benicia bridge. a little slowing as well. pronounced right here coming out of brentwood and off mark creek road there's slowing back up at the way down to 580. that's about maybe a five to ten minute delay planned through the area over the last five minutes. no crashes but there are crews we talked about overnight there and some typical delays out of the altamont pass if you're coming into the rest of the dublin interchange which moves smoothly right there. overnight crew there. we're going to see traffic, moving some equipment over the next 45 minutes. you will see temporary slowdowns and closures for short periods of time. again, if this is your drive, allow an extra ten minutes while
