a good wednesday morning to you, september 25th. take a look at the hot temperatures on their way to the bay area today. another spare the air alert, power outages already happening. we're getting word up in calistoga this morning, and some of the outlying areas are already seeing those power outages as a precaution. good morning, thanks for joining us. i'm laura garcia. >> and i'm marcus washington. this is all to protect the areas because of the danger. >> because of the high wind and the low humidity that we have. any fires that could develop will spread rapidly today and that's going to be the case through now through at least 11:00, and then so we do have the red flag warnings that continue for all these areas shaded in red. we also have the heat advisories in effect, as our temperatures
4:31 am
start to heat up today, it's going to reach back into the triple digits in a lot of these spots and that also will be in effect for san francisco, down the peninsula and extending over toward the east bay. so we do have some more veryera today, as our highs in the south bay reach into the upper 90s. i'll have more on this and our relief in the forecast. mike, you're tracking a potential issue for the north bay commute. >> kari, it's on the topic you were talking about, it is a fire. the speed sensors look fine. contra costa county a smooth drive, tends to see one of the first drives out of antioch and brentwood as well and up here in the north bay, highway 37 around mayor island where we're tracking reports of a fire, four alarms now the latest that i heard in the reports a few acres. we'll track that for any other developments. don't have a lot of information on where the fire is traveling and doesn't sound like it's

"today in the bay's" cheryl hurd spoke with pg&e. she has more in this report. >> we're coming up on october,n. >> reporter: joe branom has been checking his phone all day waiting for a power shutoff

whether or not president trump will be removed from office. oakland mayor libby schaaf, a frequent target of president trump, says that moving forward with impeachment proceedings is a good thing. however, a bay area member of the republican national convention says it may not be good at all. >> today is a great day for our country and our democracy to stand up against meddling with elections, not even the president of the united states is immune from our laws. >> i think it's going to turn off a lot of american voters from feeling like their elections are final, are people going to keep relitigating stuff three years later? >> we also talked with our nbc political analyst larry gerston. he says that impeachment could potentially work for both parties, depending on how the votes go, and how they can spin it to the marcus? >> thank you, kris. 4:36 right now. a follow-up for you, contra costa county leaders have approved the first step in a new tax that may soon hit you at the cash register.

widespread triple-digits today and hayward headed up to 94 degrees. half moon bay will reach 83 and san mateo will see a high of 93 degrees and once again we are heading back up to about 90, but we will have a little bit of a shift in the wind. it's going to be a little bit more breezy today, compared to yesterday. we're also going to have those breezy winds in the north bay, but that's the reason why we also have that high fire danger at aft today, that dry offshore wind will start to move out of here. we're going to see an area of low pressure move across the pacific northwest to bring in some cooling and as that approaches, our winds will turn more southerly, so we won't have that offshore northerly wind. we'll have more of a southerly wind and then for the weekend that's going to also bring in some cooler temperatures, as that system moves in, and also brings in a chance of rain for the sierra. as we look at our forecasts for the inland areas, 102 today, and then we'll see some mid 80s tomorrow. upper 70s on friday.
