we clear out going into the rest of the day, only reaching the 60s for many of our microclimates. we'll talk more about this and what's ahead for the rest of the week coming up in a few minutes. mike, already a couple of crashes on the peninsula. >> that's right. on the east bay we have a roadway weather red string, damp roadways in livermore and i had to use my windshield wipers through fremont by tesla on the peninsula, two crashes reported. 280 just south of 92. sou sounds like everything is off of the roadway. bellemont, closer to holly in redwood city, a crash, a car went off the roadway down the exit ramp. no major injuries reported for either one. i'll track both. a little glow, perhaps some mist in the air. san mateo bridge moves smoothly. watch for the light rain through the east bay and south bay hills. 4:31 an unusual rock fight brewing in san francisco, this

one revolving around a set of some 20 boulders placed on the sidewalk in one neighborhood. neighbors say they originally put them there because they were fed up with crime and wanted to the boulders there are starting to roll them into the street and now as "today in the bay's" marianne favro reports, the city is responding. >> reporter: wesley house spent the day writing several quotes near dolores street in san francisco, including this one that says for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. these boulders compelled him to share his messages. neighbors in clinton park paid to have them brought in, in hopes of stopping drug use, camping and crime on their street. >> i just want people to stop and think and kind of just think before they act about what's going on, you know, because there is so much attention on this issue. >> reporter: neighbors are not anti-homeless but anti-crime. they've dealt with fires and drug dealing and say calls to the city and police haven't

helped. so they pooled their money to put the boulders on the sidewalk but not all the neighbors here agree with the move. >> i definitely empathize with neighbors. there are legitimate concerns on the street. i've seen everything from mattress fire to poop on the street and nobody wants folks to sleep out on the street. i just don't believe the boulders are the right way to go it b about it. >> reporter: daniel spent the last two months sleeping on the street. >> they'd save a lot of money. use compassion and love and understanding. we're humans. the city is using a new cityimes since septemb0ousandth. strategy, crews left the boulders in the street and put out orange cones. a spokeswoman for the san francisco public works department says "we continue to look at options and are committed to supporting and working with neighbors." >> people are out here dying on the streets and to say that boulders have more of a right to rest than homeless people is

just wrong. >> reporter: marianne favro, "nbc bay area news." >> 4:34. happening today, a man accused of setting a string of fires in milpitas is set to face a judge. >> freddy graham faces 13 counts of arson tied to grass fires he set earlier this month. he had flown in from missouri for his forest high school class reunion. no one was injured and no buildings were damaged but those fires did happen, as you saw. authorities in the north bay are still not identifying the man shot and killed in his car, this is outside the village premium outlet mall in petaluma, happened about 8:00 p.m. in the parking lot saturday but one hour before stores were closed this all haed pole. the man died at the scene. petaluma police are reviewing surveillance footage and also asking for anyone who might have seen something to give them a call. police are still not confirming of a friday night shooting that seriously injured two teenagers in richmond was connected to a high school

football game that just had ended nearby. this is surveillance video from the time of the shooting showing people scattering, and a dark car taking all of quickly. the shooting involved two groups of young people in a fight near the deanza football stadium on morningside drive. the game had just finished there. 4:35 and new this morning, just two days after racing resumes at a southern california santa anita racetrack experts are trying to explain the deaths of the latest racehorse that happened on saturday when a 3-year-old colt broke its front legs h to be euthanized on the track. it was the 32nd horse to die at the track since december, and it's raised concerns with animal rights supporters and even the racing industry. there's been no one identifiable cause for the deaths, but most happened during record rainfall last winter. 4:35 and members of the university of hawaii football team are home safely, after a

midair scare forcing their plane from sfo to turn around. the plane suddenly dropped from 38,000 feet to about 10,000 feet, this was yesterday, on its way from sfo to honolulu. the airline says there was a possible issue with the pressurization system. it safely returned to sfo. the hawaii football team was on its way home from a big win saturday night over nevada arena. you'll have to forgive the giants fans if they're a bit melancholy today. >> bochy has officially ridden off into the sunset, after a rousing sendoff at oracle >> fellas, you have taught know look beyond impossible, to never say die, and never stop believing. >> bruce bochy retired yesterday after 13 years with the giants and 25 years managing in the major leagues. giants ledge ends came out to show their support. fans stood for an emotional post

some areas in the bay had prett. we're going to talk about that. let's get out the door with a look at our storm ranger mobile doppler radar parked on san bruno mountain right now. this is the bay area's only mobile doppler radar. we have it scanning that red scan that you're seeing there, and it's picking up on some of the spotty rain that's been moving through. i'm looping it back three hours to show you the rain that moved through, some spotty rain here and there, mostly for parts of the peninsula to the south bay and over toward the east bay, look at the rain that moved through, we were talking about sunol and south of livermore, some of the areas picked up on some measurable rain that happened for a few minutes. the roads are still wet this morning and the cars may be still kicking up some of that water and we have some rain and snow happening in the we can see that as it we see the potential of getting several inches of rain and snow in the sierra this morning.

as we start out with a live look outside in walnut creek, it is still all clear here and it's going to be a chilly start, after the systems that we had over the weekend continue to push some cool air ourstart out through about and some low 60s by 11:00. you can already tell it's going to be a cooler day. seven-day forecast is up at the bottom of the screen showing low 70s and east san jose for the high temperature today up to the low 70s as well for many of our east bay communities, seeing a high in concord reaching 70 degrees. 66 today in oakland. only 69 today in redwood city. we'll see mid-60s in san francisco and it will be windy so jacket weather all day reaching the low 70s in sonoma. as you start out this morning, getting dressed, a look out the window, make sure you're wearing a jacket and jeans. pants will be comfortable, too. throughout the rest of the week, we'll see some cool air for the

start of the week but it will start to warm up as we get closer to the weekend, and then we may have some dry offshore winds picking up as we go toward the end of the week. so we're going from the upper 60s for highs today to 80 by wednesday. we could see some mid 80s for the weekend so we're heading back to summer this weekend, after a little taste of fall. we're going back and forth, mike, and you are seeing that light rain out there. >> a little light the stuff on her computer. over here, i drove through this we t a little light rlier thi rain on the windshield, i did have to use the wipers. it wasn't just a mist. it was a good amount there, as kari said. we saw our road weather index in patches, over through sunol and fremont, registering there may be damp roadways as well. just be careful because we haven't had a lot of traffic overnight, not as much as typical during the day flow. west 92 somewhere into the hills

nbc bay area responds to a san jose man who found himself with two tickets to an nfl game 800 miles away. >> the trouble is, he's not interested in the game and he insists he never purchased these tickets. so he asked consumer investigator chris chmura and his team to coach him out of this mess. >> good morning. we were surprised to getearly m bought seattle seahawks tickets through an app called gametime. the price $560. he told gametime he never bought those tickets, but says they refused to give him a refund. that's when he asked for our help. we suggested he file a fraud complaint with his bank. he did, but that didn't work either. so we contacted the bank. the next day arslon got the full

"today in the bay" continues right now. and good morning to you. thanks for starting your morning here with us. i'm marcus washington. >> and i'm laura garcia. talking about that tornado in i don'tlo county near davis saturday surprised a lot of people. interesting weather. >> it was very interesting, because i wasn't too far away from there. i could see some clouds and i thought wow, those clouds are pretty big but they were the only clouds around and looking at that tornado warning that went out and that was the result of it, that tornado happening near davis, so this is some crazy weather and it was cool over the weekend so it'sle is surprising to see that amount of energy spinning up over some of the showers that developed. we're still seeing some spotty
