ould have faced 20 years for his role for trying to get his daughter into usc with a bribe. the prosecution is leading 15 months because he has pled guilty and shown morse. his argument is that inspite of his wrong doing his daughter did not get into usc and therefore never took it with someone else. the prosecution alleged he paid $50,000 to help his daughter cheat on the sat exam and $250 to get her in on a water polo scholarship. he since pled guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and services mail fraud and in a letter to the judge in boston who will be sentencing him later today, in the end my own ego brought me down. >> what he did is point out his

characteristics in the past. i stood up and took accountability early on in these proceedings and he wants to receive credit for it. >> nbc bay area legal analyst you just heard from believed the judge will sentence him to 4 to 6 months in jail. sort of in between his request and their recommendation of 15. you'll recall felicity huffman was sentenced to 14 days in jail. she'll serve her term later this month at a federal facility and also later this month there will be two obey area parents sentenced for their role in this college admissions scandal. reporting live here in the newsroom, today in the bay. >> all right, bob, thank you. happening today the woman accused in the deadly hit-and-run is expected to appear in court. investigators say she ran over a man killing him as he was

walking on a trail, this is at rancho san antonio park on tuesday. she is due in court for an arraignment this afternoon. a park ranger says that she drove back and forth over the victim several times. sheriff's deputies say she then tried to hit the second hydrant while trying to get away. what happened was intentional and the victims were randomly targeted. they're still looking into a possible motive. >> they're upset over a plan to install license plate leaders in two of the south bay parking lots. because of concerns that the information would be shared with outside agencies like immigration customs enforcement.

than it was yesterday. we're still enjoying our fall-like weather but into the weekend it's going to be heating up. we're also going to be watching that forecast for the spartan's game this evening. kick off is at 7:00 itng to be nice out there. we have upper 60s in san jose and dropping down into the lower 60s as the evening goes along to bring a jacket and as that air descends across the valley and into the bay area it dries out the air so that raises the risk that any fires that spark up could spread very rapidly.

>> is it a little windy out there this morning? >> it's a little cool. the coolest temperature that we have on the map at 41 degrees as you get ready to head out and we're bundling up as you step out in concord we have low 50s that will lead into upper 60s by late morning and then up to 70 degrees at noon today. it will still be nice with upper 70s and a few low 80s but we'll see a lot of 80s going into the weekend. even some 90s so i'll talk more about tt coming up and you're seeing more delays through dublin. >> that's right. we still have that crawl although i do see traffic starting to move at times a little bit better. still reports of two lanes blocked on the other side of the little but approaching the interchange another crash past the interchange. 10 minute delay. they may be clearing out at least one lane from the earlier car fire.

and against the lakers tomorrow afternoon. so that will draw a huge crowd. city leaders are taking extra precautions to keep everyone safe through the weekend police are asking everyone to do their part to stay safe and it can start with using bart and avoiding driving. >> we're asking that you take public transportation if you can. it's very good in the city as we all know and we're asking everyone to take it to alleviate the traffic concerns. if you have to make sure to park smart and don't be a evening target for theft.

a wrong way driver near the 280, 101 interchange before the crash. investigators are still working to figure out where ross entered the freeway. coming up we'll bring you a statement just released from the company. >> new details on the accusations against movie star and palo alto native james franco. two actresses are suing him and the acting school he founded. the suit claims franco intimidated his students into sexual situations. both women attended his school. he has not yet commented on the lawsuit however he has previously called similar allegations inaccurate. >> well, the manhunt continues in richmond this morning to track down the gunman in a deadly triple shooting. two victims are dead. the third is in critical condition. it happened before 4:00 p.m. yesterday this is west after san pablo. we spoke with the uncle of one of the victims that said his nephew just turned 32.

>> i do see traffic starting to low from time to time. it just slowed down again. there must be something going on as far as lanes clearing on the other side. chp has not had time to give us an update but the car fire with two lanes blocked from time to time has been going up and past the scene. we have seen them improve quite a bit but you're looking at the yellow section there heading from 580 and 680 all the way up to schafer ranch road. and the traffic just started backing up and even though we have the regular time it didn't start until just now. they may slow him down. it's a disabled vehicle getting into the city.

>> let's get a look at the forecast for the inland areas. for tomorrow we're reaching the mid 80s in the valleys. the bay up to 81 degrees and the coast at about 72 degrees. it's going to be a little bit hotter and more windy. 83 for the bay and the coast up to 76 degrees. if you're planning to go to the sjsu game today it's going to be nice with our temperatures right at about kick off at 66 degrees. bring a jacket because it will be cooling off. we have the stanford game at 7:30 in the evening. it will be warm at the middle of the day. as we check out what else is going on we have the art, wine and jazz festival period

our temperatures start out in the upper 40s. another chilly start to the day. normally we're reaching 77 degrees but we're going to stay just below that for one more day before it heats up. we'll talk about a hot weekend forecast coming up in less than five minutes. good news at the top of the screen. moving much better now. they're clearing lane with the car fire. bay news, the bay bridge itself is really slowing down. we have an issue of crash over there near the exit. more details are coming up. >> new this morning, a man is recovering from severe burns after this brush fire he allegedly started in the north bay. it happened yesterday afternoon. the fire started near the river

and reached almost two acres before firefighters could contain it. police say 52-year-old robert evans told officers he accidentally started that fire when he put his cigarette out in the grass. he was illegally camping in the park then tried to put the fire out before he was injured. police are now conducting a criminal investigation but so far he has not been arrested. >> a recent gun violence is now prompting an entire east bay district to change the kick off time. >> they're still investigating the shooting that injured two teenagers. this is last friday. it ended around 10:00 p.m.. now the district is it launching new safety measures including varsity and jv start times for 5:00 p.m. instead of 7:00 p.m.. not everyone is happy about this including parents where many of them are still getting up at 5:00. >> you're penalizing parents for behavior that they didn't start.

call a fishy clean up letter sent to san francisco. this week the environmental protection agency sent out a notice of violation. it accuses the city of contaminating the ocean and the bay. it comes after president trump called san francisco out during a visit last month. >> perhaps the headline is unemployment and now down to a 50 year low of 3.5%. last month the u.s. created 136,000 jobs which is lower than the 145,000 expected. some wonder if the trade war is having a negative impact on the jobs outlook. now police are thanking them for

day but it will heat up. take a look at the 7 day forecast. it's already up at the bottom of the screen going micro climate by micro climate. we have mostly some upper 70s for the south bay but a few low 80s and in walnut creek a high of 79 with a slight chill to the air to start out and a comfortable afternoon. in redwood city we're heading up to 76 degrees and low 70s in the mission district. and some upper 70s for the north way reaching 78 degrees. as we check out what's happening around the bay area this weekend you may be planning to head to hardly strictly bluegrass this weekend. highs in the mid 70s with sunshine and then as temperatures heat up for the inland areas we'll have the concern of high fire danger, especially as the winds pick up between saturday night and sunday morning. that is when a red flag warning

will be in effect for the north bay hills so we'll continue to monitor that. and then we are coming back to fall by the middle of next week with san francisco heating up to about 80 on sunday and then some 70s in the forecast for the start of next week. >> you have been tracking the roads and bridges and mass transit. what is going on now. >> that would be a great option for you to take there or over here to this on the bay bridge. look at that. very slow. problem is there's a crash right near the exit and there's a sign there and sounds like the truck took the sign out. trying to get details on which

a lot of buzz about a major mc come back. we're talking about the mcrib from mcdonalds. it's rolling out at locations nationwide. but it came back last year for a limited time and we're guessing it was a big mchit. i bet it was. so talking about a come back, one newborn baby is doing well. this is after literally being born on the side of the road. >> this, i love this story. sheriff's deputies in southern florida puld over a car that was speeding. the reason the man was speeding his wife was in labor and like in labor for real. so instead of writing a ticket

the deputy delivered the baby. >> i've only witnessed children being born. i was never on the receiving end so i guess you could say it was just my training that kicked in and it was -- the baby did most of the work. we'll put it that way. >> i think mom did most of the work, but thanks for that. mom and baby are both doing well. the ambulance did show up a few minutes after the birth. there's proud dad there and the officer springing into action. that was one of my big fears when i was pregnant. please, i don't want to have a baby in the car. >> i don't think any mother would want that. but as long as the baby is healthy. >> exactly. first lady melania trump continues her tours of some of america's national parks. >> today mrs. trump will visit the national park and dozens of fourth graders will be there as well. encouraging them to spend time-outdoors. she will then visit yellow stone national park including a stop at old faithful.
