friday morning. >> getting started with the day. he's going to get us through the commute coming up in just a bit. we're going to talk about the weather. it's a friday. people have a lot of plans coming up. >> there's a lot going on across the bay area this weekend so we're starting out with cool temperatures as you get ready to head out the door. here's a live look outside in san francisco looking as people exit the bay bridge and heading into the city so we're going to start out with some definitely jacket weather as you get ready to head out maybe to the bart station. it will be in the mid 50s. it will be one last day with fall like weather as we heat up this weekend. we're talking about this coming up. you have a big back up on the bay bridge. >> it might show us the crash but it didn't. we see traffic there and over here it's all the way up into the incline off of the bay

bridge toll plaza. the deal is that there was a big rig crash over there in fremont. so one of the right lanes is blocked. your slow lane is blocked in fact coming toward the exit and that is causing a jam for traffic all the way back to the toll plaza where the metering lights are on. the rest of the bay shows a typical friday and not a lot of problems here. especially dublin. and back to you. >> just a few hours ago. it's 20 pages of text messages suggesting the state department is in fact helping them push a foreign power to investigate joe biden. today in the bay live for us in washington this morning. you have been looking over the documents recently released overnight. what did you find? >> right. well, we found that there is a clear link between the president's attorney and the

loss. he was a giant as a business man and human being. we will miss him immensely. a taxi cab was driving them northbound into 101 into the city yesterday morning when the wrong way driver slammed into the suv killing everyone. chp says the wrong way driver, emily ross, a 34-year-old woman from hillsboro was impaired at the time. also killed in the crash, the taxi cab driver. he was a 42-year-old man from san mateo county that was well-known among other cabbies. today in the bay. >> bob, thank you. 605 right now and the defendant is scheduled to head back to court this morning where the first steps may be taken in the new ghost ship warehouse fire trial. last month jurors acquitted his co-defendant but could not reach a verdict. both sides discussed future court dates and the judge will

also hear a request to ruce his $750,000 bond. >> happening today the woman accused in a deadly hit-and-run is expected to appear in court. investigators say she ran over and killed a man who was walking on the trail on tuesday. she is due in court for an arraignment this afternoon. a park ranger says she drove back and forth over that victim several times and sheriff's deputies say she then tried to hit another hiker while trying to get away. investigators say they believe what happened was intentional. the victims, though, they say were randomly targeted. they are still looking into a possible motive. also bart riders are upset over a plan to install licensed plate bay parking lots. we're talking about the location and san jose's station. bart stopped readers over concerns about privacy not too long ago.

we've had this continued problem. across the bay bridge, very solid. all the way back to the toll plaza. good morning. i'm meg tirrell. we just got breaking news on the u.s. economy in the past 45 minutes. 136,000 jobs added in september according to the bureau of labor statistics. that's less than the 145,000 expected by economists. unemployment fell to a fresh lo. that matches the level in december 1969.

he is expected to learn his fate in connection to the college admissions scandal. he paid a quarter million dollars to help his daughter gain admission to usc as a water polo player. she wasn't qualified to actually be on the team and play at the college level. she allegedly paid $50,000 to cheat on the sat examine for his daughter. he pleaded guilty in may to two counts of mail fraud. prosecutors are asking for 15 months in prison. his defense team is asking for two months. nbc legal analyst steven clark says he thinks it will fall somewhere in the middle. >> what typically happens in these sentencing requests is that the prosecution asked for a high number and hoping the judge will come somewhere in the middle. probl probably along that line but he could face more time because of

francisco. the victims a husband and wife and they were entrepreneurs. jud, the 62-year-old and his wife, her name was mary and she was the managing partner in chicago. he is the chairman and ceo of a financial service company called invest net. they just released a statement this morning saying in part we have all experienced a great loss at envestnet. he was a giant as well as a business man and human being. we will miss him immensely. the taxi driver that picked up the couple from sfo and was driving on northbound 101 to the city early yesterday morning. that's when a wrong way driver slammed into the suv. the wrong way driver was impaired. she is 34 and from hillsboro. also killed in the crash, a taxi driver. a 32-year-old man.

this is a photo of him posted on facebook. >> a man is recovering from severe burns after a brush fire he started in the north bay. the fire started near the river and reached almost two acres before firefighters could contain it. police say 52-year-old robert evans told the officer that he accidentally started the fire when he put his cigarette out in the grass. evans that was camping illegally in the park then tried to put the fire out before he was injured. police are now conducting a criminal investigation. so far though, evans has not been arrested recent gun violence is prompting an entire school district to change the kick off time. >> they're still investigating the shooting that seriously injured two teenagers last friday. including scheduling varsity and jv start times for 5:00 p.m.. this is instead of 7.

this beautiful view in san francisco as the sunrises. you might want to grab a jacket before you head out. 11:00 ear afternoon. we'll see our high temperature for the inland area reaching 77 in livermore. san jose reaching 76 we'll see a lot more 80s in the forecast for the weekend as high pressure continues to build. it gives us more of an offshore wind that's going to drive things out especially saturday night and sunday. so more of a fire danger going into the weekend. starting at 8:00 p.m. saturday continuing until 10:00 sunday morning. that's when the winds will be the strongest and with the air movering across the central

valley into the bay area it dries out but it will also continue to increase so that's the reason why in some spots we'll have a higher gust and increased danger of some wildfire spreading rapidly. it's all in the matter of a couple of days. inland valleys in the low 80s tomorrow and upper 80s on sunday. and san francisco will see a warm up on sunday. >> you're checking in at the san mateo bridge. >> i am. we heard about that crash and then i saw a box truck over here on the right shoulder but then it cleared as i was starting to file the report so i assume it's just moving. across the section.

and we do have one in the south bay, north 680. just showed some slowing. i heard about a fire off of the roadway but there maybe a house involved so we're tracking that in the newsroom. expect slowing from 280 coming north on 680 through that area. and then highway 4, a little bit of slowing through pittsburgh and bay point. richmond bridge. a crash near the toll plaza but that should be down the east shore freeway and we do know that the bay bridge itself cleared up completely so we may see these lights speed up once again clearing a little bit at the toll plaza. not completely but it will move better. >> happening now they're working to get back to normal. ni leakage from a downpour clauaused the building flood. it leaked near one of the airport's baggage areas. several flyings were impacted however the airport is working to resume normal operations. >> up next a look at the top stories including a key day
