outside the house of a woman killed by police a neighbor called a non-emergency number out of concern for 28-year-old atatiana jefferson after he saw her doors open and lights on the fort worth police department leased this body cam footage of an officer walking around the outside of the home just after 2:00 in the morning. he is seen stopping at a window and yelling put your hands up before quickly firing his weapon the department says the officer perceived a threat the statement also said a gun was found in the home, but did not specify where it was found a lawyer for theefferson family says the officer fired so quickly that he did not have time to perceive a threat. the officer has been placed on administrative leave while the department conducts an investigation. two people are dead and more than two dozen injured after a deadly hotel collapse in new orleans. it happened at a hard rock hotel that was under construction, and officials say crews are frantically searching for a worker who is believed to be missing in the ruins of the hotel. nbc's dan sheneman has the laters

>> reporter: rescuers in new orleans are still looking for one worker, missing since a whole collapsed. >> search and rescue continues to remain our top priority at this time. >> reporter: the worker was at the hard rock hotel, under construction just outside the french quarter when it partially caved in saturday. a large crane was brought in to assist rescuers. >> we have teams that are currently making entry as we speak into the building in an effort to try and locate the one victim we have that we have not been able to locate. >> reporter: at least two lives were lost when the building crumbled one of those bodies has been recovered. 30 people were hurt. one remains in the hospital. >> it's just sad. >> reporter: phillip outlaw was in a hotel nearby saturday when he felt the ground shake. >> i knew there was lot of possibility a lot of people were getting hurt at this time. >> reporter: family members waiting for news about loved ones have gathered near the hotel. but they can do little but wait. dan sheneman, nbc news

an urgent search is under way in birmingham, alabama police say 3-year-old kamille mckinney was kidnapped while she was at a birthday party on saturday night they fear the girl is in extreme danger officials released this photo of a person of interest overnight this unidentified man was detained for questioning police are searching center point, alabama and asking for the public's help to find the little girl. police are on the scene of what they're calling a suspicious incident. officials say they responded to reports of shots fired a mall in boca raton once on the scene, they discovered one victim who sustained a trauma wound in the food court by hitting his head against the door while leaving the mall authorities say they did not identify any suspect and have not found any gunshots or shell casings. the victim was transported to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, and that the source of loud bangs remains under investigation. is the end of the world as
