welcome back. if you hadn't felt the shaking going on in the bay area over the past 30 or so hours you're probably in the minority. that's because there are two hot spots and a lot of neighborhoods have been rattled. the newest, the 4.7 struck yesterday in holster. one shake sent a shop owner running from her liquor store. in another video posted by the owners of the nearby restaurant you can hear when the shaking starts. the shaking left a lot of people

noon with our temperatures in the low 60s in oakland. and then into the afternoon we see some low 70s in napa, oakland stays in the 60s, lower 60s in san francisco, and the south bay temperatures will be in the low 70s and it'll be a cooler evening as we make it back to the mid to upper 50s. so we have a cold front and storm front approaching, we see clouds ahead of that. we see the clouds rolling in today as the system moving in and it'll bring rain for parts of the north bay tonight. we could see spotty rain moving in to santa rosa, napa could see it at midnight. spotty waves of rain, maybe not everyone will see this, but it looks to clear out by the time you wake up and head out the

door early tomorrow morning, leaving light amounts of rain. a few hundreds of an inch throughout the bay area. our chance of rain by late tonight into early tomorrow moves out for the rest of the forecast. we'll see for the weekend we'll keep the nice cool weather with low 70s for highs. it and warms up sunday into early next week. san francisco in the mid 60s today, and more 60s throughout the forecast. you're seeing the typical overnight work. >> yes. we are on early this morning so we are seeing more activities on the roads, they typically clear up at the 5:00 hour. one lane blocked, this is north 101 heading up past university and southbound shows the same zone coming down from whipple down into the area. so we don't see any slowing on the sensors, it was off of 280 so not a major problem. you can see the sensors, no

well, tomorrow officially marks 30 years since the devastated loma prieta earthquake. it destroyed buildings, collapscollaps collapscollaps collapsed bridges and killed dozens. there is a difference between earthquake's magnitude and intensity. carrie hall breaking it down. >> when an earthquake strikes we want to know the magnitude, which is a measure of the energy released at the source of the earthquake but that doesn't tell you how the shaking will affect the structures. the model 5 mercalli intensity scale is a measure of the strength of a shaking at a certain location. the scale goes from 1, which is not easily felt, to a 13, which is total devastation.
