with love, california. it's just a scary time and i wonder if i'll have a house to come home to. fast-moving flames, evacuation, and a path of destruction. our "today in the bay" team is live across sonoma county, tracking the fire fight. we're also keeping an eye on the smoke set to move into the rest of the boo bay area today. this morning we're certainly keeping a close eye on the fire, the weather conditions. good friday morning to you. thank you for joining us. i'm laura garcia, and i'm marcus washington. kari, how is it looking? >> the good news it

the north bay will see the drift the smoke getting heavier in the morning. through the coast smoke this afternoon and this evening for the south bay. it will make it unhealthy for the air quality. we see our temperatures in the north bay now at 51 degrees. it's 54 in livermore, san jose is 58. look how much cooler it is now than yesterday at this time. in santa rosa 26 degrees cooler than 24 hours ago. that's also a sign that the winds have calmed doubt. we had the gusty winds that were warming up the temperatures. we are going to see our winds coming in from the northwests we're going to see the wind direction. the stream lines are seeing that

will carry the smoke into the rest of the bay area. we'll talk more about the weekend. mike, we for the fires. >> 128 from geyserville down to pine flats road. that remains in place uppy because of the kinkade fire. there was never an effect from the spring fire that popped unfortunate yesterday morning. and the muir fire, it's still closed between the panorama highway and the muir beach area. >> everything else is smooth, because it's early. we may have a crew close to a disabled vehicle in oakland, but no slowing shows up on our sensors. so sending it right back to you.

fires are working against time before conditions get kinkade fire in sonoma county. so far it's burned 16,000 acres around geyserville. at least 49, and nearly 5,000 people are under -- >> if you haven't seen this ominous video yet, it will likely play a major role in the kinkade fire investigation, this shows what many now believes is the moment the fire ignited. pg & e admits a faulty cable on a transmission tower may be to blame, even though w out, pg & e level the imagine transmission lines active.

welcome to friday morning. a live look outside overlooking the east bay in ahead, but gusty winds coming for the weekend. the full forecast is coming up in just moments. we are going to take a bit of a break today. we need that break. it will be nice for a longer break than what we are going to get, but we will see some of the winds picking up going into the weekend. as we take a live look outside in san francisco, it's all clear. we won't see much of a gusty

wind here, but we will see the drifts of smoke later on this morning into the afternoon. let's get you ready for the day and out the door. going to the b.a.r.t. station we'll be in the upper 50s, and will still be very hot today. we're having to break out the summer gear, as we look at our hour-by-hour forecast. 81 in san jose, san mateo at 84 degrees. yes, it will be hot again, even in san francisco, 87 in danville, 81 in antioch, a bit cooler there as napa and santa rosa reaches into the 0s. briefly hitting the 90 mark in the south county before it starts to come down. we'll have a wide range of temperatures. we preparing for the next weather event, a fire weather watch starting late on saturday

continuing through monday. a lot of high wind watches that they are issuing well in advance of the next system we are expecting to move in. it mostly includes some of our higher elevations, will you we'll also have some gusts in the valleys as well. the strongest wind will start to move in early on sunday, with some of the valleys getting gusts up to 40 miles an hour, the mountain gusts up to 70 miles an hour. thngd down trees and caught quite a bit of damage. over the next few days, bring in the patio furniture, so that everything around the home is could you are. as we look at our wind forecast for today, winds coming in from the west, this is showing the upper-level winds, which carries the smoke. we see the winds shifting, as we go into the rest of the day and northwesterly wind. we'll bring in smoke from the north bay across the rest of the

bay area. it looks like it travels, as we go into the evening into the south bay. going into tomorrow, still smoky, and we start to see the winds picking up on early sunday morning. we see the bright colors here on our forecast, as we see is all across the bay area, even san jose, some of our valleys, livermore will also get the high wind gusts on sunday going throughout the afternoon, into the overnight hours. so some gusty winds will also mean a high fire danger, very low humidity along with the cold front that will be coming in. you see how significantly the temperatures drop off, going from 90 today to 75 on sunday, and winds will gradually start to relax on monday, as we go into the beginning of next week. it's looking much better. as we head over to mike, you're tracking a couple crashes. >> over here, there may be a crash flier devil's slide. i'll track that and let you know. so far we don't hear of major

problems. we have that closure around slide ranch and muir beach, the fire that kicked off yesterday during our midday. the crash at 85 and 87 may actually be an issue for the fire department, and we're on edge with the fire, we'll exttr that. no slowing up over the last ten minutes, so we'llaysra for that caused things to hold up, so the last of the trains just finally got over there. the update is it was 3:00, a late arrival for some folks. and capital corridor shouldn't see any problems. there's the bay bridge, where we have no problems. back to you. firefighters are battling more than a dozen fires across

the state. the biggest problem in southern california is burning in l.a. county near. the tick fires has forced thousand from their home. >> the fire itself has burned for nearly 4,000 acres. these are live pickett infrastructure from the ground. i just feel so bad for these firefighters, what they are up against. the high winds and wind gusts are certainly making it a tough battle. not be you don't see open flames right now. there are plenty of hot spots ert in the incide firefight coming up here on "today in the bay," a new state audit is highlighting california cities in financial trouble. up next, the bay area cities that made the list. it's hard to believe that ski season is actually getting started. coming up, the first sierra

air quality. as we look at the microclimates, morgan hill is at 83, also 83 in napa. san francisco 82 degrees, reaching into the upper 80s there. we'll see a few low 90s in the north bay as the crews continue to fight the kinkade fire in sonoma county. they're also going to have some light winds, but really hot temperatures. i'm tracking more heat into the start of the weekend, then a high wind event. i'll have more on that in a few minutes. mike? i notice there's a crash reported near devil's slide. a t i'll let we do see more slowing there on 880, heading toward h
