called to the home twice for noise complaints and when they arrived, party-goers were running from the shooting. the party should never have happened. that's the sentiment of neighbors who say they before complained before about this very airbnb rental and there is a push to change city rules that allowed the house to be rented out. >> neighbors say this is not the first time huge crowds gathered to party at this home. and city ordinances allow only 13 people to stay at a short-term rental. it is clear those rules were not followed and now the mayor says it is likely everything will get another look. >> we will be looking at the regulations, and determining whether those regulations could be added to, or whether there is any enforcement that can be increased. >> the owner of this property has already run afoul of the rules a couple of times. the first time was for a rowdy party in march, the second was

even dip down in the 20s which means some patchy frost is possible and it may be time to start turning on the car, let it warm up a little bit, and also, a good reminder, bring in your pets, if you typically have a larger animal that sleeps outside, a dog, bring them in overnight, a little too cold and also protect the nice beautiful plants that you have going on, my parents would do that all the time to make sure they don't get frostbite. the microclimate highs for today are above the normal for this time of the year. about five to seven degrees in some spots including down to the south bay. san jose, 77 degrees. and morgan hill, 79. concord, 77. and along the peninsula, the coastline area, we're talking mid 70s as well. and it is going to be warm, and it is going to be sunny as well. and i want to tap into the winds. because last weekend, this was a much different picture. we were very concerned about the wind, as you know. this wind event, we don't have one this weekend, so it is going to be a calm weekend ahead. look at that, maybe just a light breeze for half moon bay at 11

miles an hour. aside from that, though, we're not really concerned about the winds which means no wind chill right now. let's talk about the rain outlook. we did mention, that the high pressure still dominating, still holding on tough and i fast forward the time line all the way through november 11th. the reason is there is a system through the pacific northwest, right around that time, but because that high pressure remains so dominant, it is actually blocking the chance of us seeing any rain. at least not for the next two weeks. which is our best chance of seeing rain. it is probably not going to be until the second half of november. and that is when we may be seeing our first rainfall of the winter. almost winter, right? the season. something to keep in mind over the next seven days, a quick reminder, daylight savings time, we were just talking about that, don't forget, your phone and all of that does it automatically but your microwave clock, your stove top clocks might not do it so get that extra hour of sleep in. over the next seven days we remain in the 60s for san francisco. and today is the warmest day in

we have the sea foam. that's how my mom calls it. a gorgeous beautiful shot with the golden gate bridge. it looks a little more faded but don't worry, it is going to be a very clear day, we're not worried about any cloud cover. let's take a look at how cold we are outside. 30s up through the north bay. and 35 in santa rosa. napa, dipping down into the low 40s. and through the tri-valley areas like livermore, the more sheltered valleys, 39 degrees. and because we are dipping down into those 30s, we then see the 20s, yesterday morning, as well. there is a frost advisory that is going to remain in place until 9:00 a.m., mainly for the north bay, of course, and we're talking about temperatures dipping down, which means the patchy frost is possible. so you may want to head out early, maybe bring your pets inside, early on because we will have another cold night tonight heading into tomorrow. wi we are on trend to see warmer temperatures. the high temperature is hanging on tight and the above average temperatures in the 70s. upper 70s, for san jose, and 77,
7:46 am
look at that, concord, 77, and through san francisco, 72, and up through santa rosa, nearing those 80s, so we are above normal, and especially considering we're officially november, for this time of the year, and let's talk about the reason why, but before i get to that, i want to show you, the stunning view of squaw valley, this is a beautiful look there, and some of the forecast, i bring it to you on the weekend, let's get right to that, if you're heading out the door, on the way to the sierra, expect great conditions, we're talking about 50s and 60s, so you will definitely be needing a jacket, because the overnight lows are also dipping down into the 30s. up through the sierra. so be prepared as you head up there. and heading into tomorrow, similar conditions as well. it is actually going to be a little bit colder and let's talk about the rain outlook for the next several days, because a lot of people have been wondering when is our next chance of rain? well, as i mentioned the high pressure has been hanging on tight. and because of high pressure, it has been so dominant, we have systems that are developing just off the pacific northwest, but it is creating a sort of a block. otherwise known as a rex block
7:47 am
and preventing the storms from coming in. as high pressure continues to dominate, we are expecting it to stay this way, at least through the first half of november and then a better chance of seeing some rain, anywhere between the 50s, with the percentage up 50% and then we may have the approach of seeing some rain around here. and yes, we are seeing rain later than we typically are used to for the month of november. don't forget we fall back one hour. if you have old school clocks, make your microwave, that's the one i can think of for me, you get to sleep in an extra hour tomorrow morning. and a little more awake. 68 degrees. you may not need that extra shot of espresso. the 60s dominating the forecast for the next several days in the bay area. >> 7:47. still ahead on "today in the bay," ready or not, the holiday
7:48 am
shopping season is fast approaching. i can't believe it. whether you're shopping instores or online, we have all of the new tips to help you save big on the gifts next.
7:49 am
7:50 am
welcome back, while it is just a couple of days past halloween, almost half of all shoppers already have begun buying gifts for the holiday season. there are 26 days between thanksgiving and christmas this year, and you know what that
7:51 am
means, less time to get it all done. here's nbc's vicky wynn with some tips for all of us. >> 'tis the season for savings. both in stores, and online. >> it's what i like to call, a shopper's market so don't make any purchases until you find a sale or a deal or a cash-back offer. >> what should you buy right now? >> clothing. outer wear. beauty products. electronic. and cook ware. but wait until after the holidays to buy things like linens and fitness equipment. and when it comes to toys, it is a catch 22. right now, stores are full of toys because they're coming out but in the ten days leading up to christmas, you could see lower prices, and you also run the risk of popular toys running out. >> so if you're shopping brick and mortar, here is how to get the best deals. start early in the morning right when the stores open. >> many retailers offer door buster deals but they don't last all day. >> another tip, skip the front of the store and head to the back and these items are less
7:52 am
likely to picked over and there is a better selection. >> and whatever deals you find in stores, you will probably find online, too. and that doesn't mean you can't get an even better deal. >> it only takes a couple of minutes to look around the internet and do a little bit of price comparison and see who offers the best deal. >> invisible hand, and shop tagger for instance, help with the lowest prices by scouring the internet for coupon codes and deals. and camel camel camel will help you track the item you want on amazon. >> the cordless vac uuum 599 rit now but in june, it was 489, so if you don't need it right away, you might want to wait for the next price drop. >> hoping for a better price, web sites alert you when the price drops to your savings sweet spot. and if you like bargaining, try price waiter where you negotiate
7:53 am
with retailers for the best price on a product. >> like the msrp, it is $1499, and let's beat that. so there is this but top, it says make an offer, i will click on that and it instantly tells you the price on amazon, which i would have looked at it, is $898 and i will see if i can try to beat that. and $800. i will submit my offer. and now i wait. >> within sections, look at that, i didn't get it for $800. but they did give me $44 off the amazon price. so if i want it, i just click on check out. >> but the simplest way to save money might be to wait it out. >> put the items you want in your cart and resist to buy right away and close your cart and go about your day and the store might send you a reminder email about your cart and a bonus coupon to get to you buy. >> there is the email in my in box, come back 15 for a discount of 15% off. >> and all of these discounts add up to real savings over the holiday shopping season.
