>> it really makes it hard to get out of bed. but as you get through the day, we're going to see some clearing, as we take a look at the low clouds and the fog to start. may also be misting and drizzling for a little while. santa clara will have some temperatures dropping down to about 51 degrees and then by 8:00, we're starting to see it all clear out. here's a look at the current visibility around the bay area, some spots, down to zero. we're seeing that in the south county. and the north bay also has some really low visibility. so we'll talk about the fog and what's ahead for the weekend. mike, this is also going to have a big impact for dryers. >> definitely. we're looking at a foggy friday commute over here at the bay bridge, where i just saw one person patiently waiting because they were trying to use the lane that's closed. so they were allowed into these cash lanes. and it's only a mild build here, but we have those low clouds in the fog there at the bay bridge. not quite as dense on our road weather index, but it is showing up in the north bay where we have a crash for highway 12 and sevastopol. we'll talk about the

distribution so far, the green censors are good. back to you. >> thanks, mike. our big story this morning is that fog out there and the alert for drivers. >> here's a live look from our network of live cameras across the bay area. looking right now, san francisco, san jose, oakland, palo alto, san francisco, foggy, indeed. it really covered that dense fog out there. right now, we want to get to "today in the bay's" bob redell. he's live in sunol with a live look -- okay, it looks clear where you are right now, but i'm sure it's bad out there for a lot of drivers. >> reporter: we don't have the zero visibility that kari was alluding to in other parts of the bay area. we're here in sunol at the bottom of the sunol gray. but as you can see behind me, the fog is certainly heavy. take a look at this video we sent in about an hour ago. this was us driving northbound 680 over to sunol grade. it's not the worst we've eseen n terms of fog. you can still see the car in front of you, but visibility is a little bit limited. so you want to watch your speeds. i'm tracking the latest from the national weather service. meteorologists there have indicated that if visibility

gets any worse, they might issue a dense fog advisory. their last notes which came out about seven minutes ago still say they're looking into it, and it hasn't been issued yet and it might not be issued. chp has issued their own fog advisories for 680. this is for dublin to scott creek, 580 to scott creek, along the area we're at. also for highway 80 between american canyon and the car quee kooe carquinez bridge. it's fairly fog on the other bridges, golden gate, san mateo. don't use your high beams, especially in places where the fog is really thick. that blasts the light right back at you, creating a blinding effect. reporting live here in sunol, bob redell, "today in the bay". >> bob, thanks so much for that update. 5:03 for you right now. the family of one of the victims who died in the halloween house party shooting is filing a wrongful death lawsuit later today. the attorney for rainmond hill

jr. says airbnb, the owners of that house, and the organizers of that party all responded before the tragedy that killed five people in orinda. and he says that relatives are hurt that the company's ceo tweeted a pledge to support the families of the victims, but they have not heard from him directly. the father of another victim says he feels the same way. >> i'm pretty surprised. this is a pretty big company we're dealing with, to have this tragic loss that we're all suffering from and nobody has -- i haven't seen anybody make no statements about they're sorry for this happening or no type of reaching out. >> omar taylor sr., who you saw there, says he's still focusing on providing a proper burial for his son. he's also considering a lawsuit as well. >> it's hard to believe, but today marks one year since the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in california history. the campfi fire leveled the tow of paradise. 86 people lost their lives. 18,000 homes and businesses destroyed.

and the fire burned through more than 153,000 acres. the firestorm has really left that lasting rippling effect, especially for those who lost loved ones. one year later, one woman is still mourning understandably her father and brother who died trying to escape their burning home in paradise. and kris sanchez is live with that family's very emotional story, understandably, kris. >> reporter: hi, there, laura. some of those 85 people who died there in paradise a year ago really had very little chance of making it out alive, because some of them were confined to their homes. and that includes this earnest foss jr., whose medical condition meant that he could not leave his home. he was in bed where he lived with his stepson, andrew burt, and their dog, denise. their body was found in the driveway of their home and his stepson's body was found about a mile away.

we talked with his daughter who lived in san francisco and she said their only comfort is knowing that their fight is over. >> every day is a struggle. some days better than others, b but, um -- this will never get better. >> reporter: angela lou says that she will be in paradise today where the camp fire changed her life and the town forever. she told us she'll be thinking about her dad as she hands out leaflets, making sure her dad's surviving neighbors know that a deadline for fire insurance claims was just extended to december 31st. we have that information at nbcbayarea.com. one year later, angela lou says her loss still feels very real, but that she will attend some of the memorial ceremonies in paradise today to just think about her dad. in menlo park, kris sanchez, "today in the bay". >> got to be very emotional, a lot of hurt there. numerous events are being held today in butte county to

remember those who died. here are just a few. the town of paradise is asking people to observe a moment of silence at 11:08 a.m. that's the exact time the fire started last year. town leaders will also show off for the first time a newly built community resource center. and today, paradise leaders will help break ground on a new camp fire memorial named hope plaza. new for you this morning, a major west coast recycling and trash hauling company is leading a new statewide push to tax plastic companies. this week an initiative was proposed for the 2020 presidential ballot. that measure would tax companies up to 1 cent for each plastic package item sold. that money would go to environmental restoration and recycling infrastructure. supporters will have to collect more than 600,000 signatures. and even before the holiday travel season takes flight, san jose airport is already setting new records when it comes to travelers. by the end of the year, the

airport expects to have had 15.5 million people roll through and a million more than last year. and if you plan to fly from there anytime before the end of the year, be aware of parking. it will be tight. lots have actually been closed at full capacity and a number of weekends have already faced that this year. 5:08 for you right now. and if the raiders indeed just played their final night game ever at oakland coliseum, they went out with a bang. >> a lot of fans happy this morning. they gave fans really new hope for a shot at the pro season. the raiders beat their rival l.a. chargers in dramatic fashion after coming out and two early interceptions helped give the raiders a first quarter lead. but josh jacobs scored on an 18-yard touchdown run. afterwards, head coach jon gruden celebrated with fans in the black hole. >> every win, i'm going down

there. i've got face paint all over me, i got see some costumes i have not seen before at any football games. awesome. >> that's great. they're dedicated. the raiders now move to 5-4. they're just a game behind the chiefs for first place in the division. rooting on the raiders. also last night, the raiders honored a local hero who dramatically saved a man's life. >> raider nation roar ed -- >> that's cool. >> we saw it there. raider nation roaring there for the b.a.r.t. supervisor who saved that man who fell on to the b.a.r.t. tracks. the raiders celebrated him as a hometown hero. we actually asked him about the moment of bravery and quick thinking. >> somebody's about to die. take action, put your phone away, don't break that out. do something. >> do something. and only because it's something you can't see enough of, and maybe you may have missed this video, but this is that video

showing that rescue. you can see o'connor pulling the man who fell on those tracks, pulled him to safety just as that train arrived. >> and we heard from that man, too. he's so thank. but did you hear that crowd? it's so great. >> everyone's just roaring in support. >> yeah, absolutely. why not! >> exactly. all right, so we are starting out with some fog this morning. as we take a live look outside in san francisco, rolling across the golden gate bridge to some low visibility, watch out for that. we're seeing that drift around the bay area. our temperatures start out in the upper 40s in the north bay. we're at 44 in livermore. that's the coldest temperature we have right now on the map while san jose is at 53. san francisco starts out the morning at 55. as we look at all of our microclimates and see how our trend goes for today. at lunchtime, we're at 75 in the tri-valley while san francisco is only at 63 degrees. we'll see some low 60s and even some upper 50s along the coast while the valleys will warm up

quite a bit today. feeling nice with some upper 70s for our highs and we'll talk about what's ahead for the weekend coming up. mike, you've also been tracking the fog. >> that's right, kari, the fog is a major factor for folks. as you'll see, the yellow highlighting is what's really dense, 680 down out of the dublin interchange and in towards sunol and free minnesota. th that will be a tough drive. over here, highway 12 still has that crash, now termed a major injury crash. reports of a head-on collision earlier this morning. and someone said they could not see the area because the fog was so thick. that's the yellow highlighting we see on our censsensors. for the rest of the north bay commute, it will be definitely patchy with dense fog, like areas through vallejovallejo, n and our live camera in san jose catches it as well. coming up this morning, more

we're coming up on 5:15. and we've had some patchy dense fog moving across parts of the bay area, but it is clear in this part of the tri-valley, as we look live in dublin. as you head out the door, another morning starting out at about 43 degrees with a quick warm-up with some clearing skies and a nice day ahead. we'll get a look ahead to that weekend forecast. that's coming up in less than five minutes. and right now, we're looking at the fog creeping down so we've had to move our camera down so we can see some of the roadway closer to us on the san mateo bridge, similar to yesterday. we'll show you how that commute is creeping around the bay, as well. and good morning and a very happy friday to you. the san francisco gap -- the head of san francisco's gap is stepping down this morning. stock indices have set a number of records lately on hopes that the chinese and americans will end some of their punishing tariffs. so that's good news for the stock markets, but look here. i've included the ten-year

treasury yields. when people are buying a lot of stocks, that money tends to come out of bonds. it raises the yield. if people don't want to buy your thing, you've got to make your thing more attractive in some sort of fashion. all right, well, what this means, we're just going to go ahead and go to the next story here. there we go. as we watch the stock market rise, the bond yields go up. it's complicated, but bond yields are tied to mortgage rates. so this is when you start to care about what i'm talking about, if you're trying to buy a house. as a rule of thumb, because of what i just sketched out, a good performance on the stock market pushes mortgage rates higher. that's a tendency, it's something to watch. they're still historically very low and lag behind the market. but watch this. in other news, sears holdings says they'll continue to close sears and kmart stores including the big sears at eastridge mall.

stores in san bruno and tracy also going to shut down. netflix warning some people that their tv sets or set-top boxes won't be able to get netflix due to some changes in technology. older samsungs in particular and some older roku units. this is patriot act with hasan minhaj. on a separate note, netflix has pulled down this episode about saudi arabia because it offended the crowned prince there. that's the same crowned prince our intelligence agency says ordered the murder of a "washington post" writer, but he was hosted. reed hastings says, we're not in the news business, we're not trying to do truth to power, we're trying to entertain, that's why they pulled it down. 5:17 right now, and the 49er faithful these days are basking. as they continue to keep the momentum rolling, the so-called

and we're immersed in that. also immersed in some fog this morning. here's a live look outside in freedommont. we've seen the fog drifting around in spots. and this is what we've seen the past few days. still some more dense fog for you this morning. as we take a look at our temperature trend for the rest of the day, we're going to start out with some low 50s, a cool start. and we should see that fog clearing out around 8:00 to 9:00 and china the rest of the day. and then our temperatures start to warm up. but this is the issue looking at the current visibility. in the south county, right now, san martin, visibility down to about zero. and it's about a half of a mile in concord. parts of the delta are seeing some fog, and in the north bay, in the low-lying areas, in the valley valleys, napa and santa rosa at about a half-mile visibility. once that clears up, you may want to hang out around san francisco and see some great weather for that mostly sunny skies at about noon and then some low 60s for today. still some light jacket weather

there before the south bay, it warms up into the mid- to upper 70s. we'll see a high of 78 degrees in gilroy. and up to about 79 in pittsburgh. oakland, 68 degrees. we'll see a wide range in temperatures, because we'll still see the fog at half moon bay. 57 there, san francisco in the upper 50s to low 60s and up to 73 today in sonoma. we are still seeing some dry weather, high pressure building and staying over the bay area. and it's also driving that rain to the north. but we will see it kind of backing off, easing off to the west. and it could allow for some rain in the forecast by the end of next week, but we are still going to have our sunshine for the next several days. inland temperatures, about 10 degrees above normal, reaching into the upper 70s, and then cooling down next week with more clouds, especially by next thursday. and mike, fog, that's the main factor. >> that's right, combined with a number of cars, of course, which is just increasing really dramatically over the last few minutes of the bay bridge toll plaza. nothing alarming for this volume

identity between rival cartels. but some victims' family members are now disputing that. jurors resume deliberations today in the case of a bay area real estate heiress accused of miniature. prosecutors say tiffany lee arranged to have her ex-boyfriend, keith green, killed. he was the father of her children and prosecutors believe she was scared about losing a custody battle. investigators testified that she worked with her then-boyfriend to plan green's murder, but her attorneys argue that she's been wrongly accused and green was killed in a botched kidnapping. well, you know what? it may sound like an unlikely trio, but house speaker nancy pelosi, actor richard gere, and the sister of dalai lama all plan to be in san francisco tonight. >> gere is expected to moderate a discussion tonight in san francisco between the house speaker and jet soon femmea. the topic is tibet. gere is a practicing tibetan buddhist and the chairman of the international campaign for that region. it's 5:25 right now. all morning long, we're taking a

look back at the camp fire. today marks one year, it's hard to believe, since that deadly firestorm. and kelly clarkson is honoring the bravery and heroism of first responders who stepped in when the help was needed. they include a san francisco woman, elizabeth gunderson. she grew up in paradise and is a nurse practitioner. she drove to an apartment in chico to reunite with her evacuated family. >> my family was safe. i've never been so grateful for anything. and then, you know, i realized that my family's safe, but there are so many people who didn't -- either didn't get out or are gravely, gravely injured or in trouble after this fire. and we have to do something. >> now, find out exactly what she did at 3:00 on the kelly clarkson show. and if you don't plan on being home at that time, you can set your dvrs to watch that later.

you're heading out of santa rosa and into sevastopol. that overnight crash there, the big note there said couldn't see the area because fog was so thick, so dense up there. and it is the case where you have the yellow and some low clouds there, but fog over here in the tri-valley, that will be an issue as well as in through hayward, back to you. >> thanks so much, mike. it's 5:31. and we have new details on an overnight fire in the east bay. we're looking at new video from the scene here. firefighters arrived to find the rv fully engulfed. the cause of the fire is under investigation. >> this morning, a lot of people ready to take off and leave san francisco. a new city study this morning showing that 35% of san franciscans can't afford to stay

in the city. not too much of a surprise there, for you. today in the bay area sharon katsuda is live at sfo where residents or former residents definitely agree. sharon? >> yeah, marcus, we're hearing a lot about this study is by the office of the controller and the study shows about a third of the rs residents say they don't think they'll be living there three years from now. they say they don't have much hope they'll be able to buy a home and live in the city long-term. >> we all live together in one apartment. that's the only way to live in san francisco. it's just one apartment. >> i can't afford living in a room and basement and i was like, no. you know, you want to be self-independent, so vegas was the cheape esest route for me t. >> reporter: the good news is, 42% say they'll be able to stay

long-term. now, this has been a trending with according to the study, since 2005. people saying they will need to leave this city within the next few years. reporting live at sfo, i'm sharon katsuda, "today in the bay". >> it's funny to hear that girl say vegas, because i know someone who recently moved from the bay area to vegas. the new downtown novato smart train is getting a little closer to opening. starting late tonight and through the weekend, teams will test signalling and train control systems along various stretches of the track and the crossings. testing begins at 11:00 tonight. it take place in three phases through 2:00 a.m. monday morning. drivers nearby will be advised to slow down in case crossing gates are being tested. the downtown station is on track to open by the end of the year. and a warning if you're hitting the road this weekend, the northbound lanes of 880 between maowry and thornton avenues in fremont will be shut down.

the closures start tonight and last until 8:00 tomorrow morning. pg&e plans to remove a gas pipeline running across the interstate. the same closure moves over to southbound lanes tomorrow night. new this morning, police investigating three recent assaults at stanford university. the first happened overnight on halloween. according to campus security, a woman was choked by a man inside a student housing building on escondido road. the second assault happened the next day when a woman was raped, she says, at the loganita court dormitory. and on november 2nd, a woman reported drinking alcohol and believed it was spiked with drugs. that happened on mayfield avenue. at 5:34 this morning, new details this morning on a deadly plane crash in southern california. the pilot died yesterday when his plane crashed into a home in san bernardino county. medics returning from another call saw the plane flying low and erratically, then saw a column of smoke. two adults and a baby were in

that home when the plane hit, but they were able to get out safely. 5:34 right now. a surprise truce in a legal battle between san francisco and the nra. the gun rights group suddenly dropped its lawsuit. this all stems from a move by supervisors in september when they adopted a resolution declaring the nra a domestic terror group. they also suggested not doing business with any contractors who do business with the nra. the nra dropped that suit, citing the retreat made by san francisco leaders since then. but city attorney dennis herrera responded, calling the lawsuit a baseless attempt to silence valid criticism of the organization and to distract from the ongoing gun violence. happening today, a popular bay area lighthouse reopens after being closed for more than a year. the historic point reyes lighthouse underwent $5 million in renovations. the work is wrapping up just in time to celebrate the structure's 150th anniversary on december 1st. today's reopening event starts at 10:00 a.m.

looks like a beauty! >> going to need a lighthouse in a lot of spots. fog over here, as well. listen for the fog horns. this is the bay bridge in case you didn't recognize it. we've seen this backdrop in last couple of days. no major issues getting over there, aside from the fog. and that will be a big factor in vallejo. you see that highlighted yellow, in the north bay, as well, where that crash, that major injury crash cleared from highway 12 a few minutes ago. you're okay getting over towards sevastop sevastopol. rest of the bay, green sensors pretty much everywhere. although there are no crashes, waze does show some slowing. talking about speeds in the 40s. nbc bay area and waze is your team this holiday weekend if you venture out and beyond in your typical areas. >> that's right, it's veterans day on monday. and it is friday today, which means the weekend is here. >> and thoughfully you hahopefug

weekend coming your way. it's going to be a nice one. we're starting with a look at all of the sunshine we'll see across the bay from the inland areas, but there will still be some early clouds near the coast. and temperatures reaching the upper 60s, low 80s inland. and checking out sunday's forecast, also more of the same. we're going to have some cool air for our beaches and coastal area. the bay will reach into the mid-70s and low 80s for a few inland spots. going ice skating this weekend, you'll want to make sure you check out the children's winter fest in walnut creek. our own rob mayda will be there. we'll have great time. temperatures in the 60s in the morning reaching into the mid-70s for the middle of the afternoon. if you are making beach plans, expect it to be a little cool there with some fog in half moon bay. we're going to stay in the mid-50s today, only up to 60 degrees tomorrow with peeks of sunshine. if you're going to yosemite this weekend, maybe going hiking, expect highs in the upper 50s. and a lot of sunshine there, as

happy friday. right now as we come up on 5:42, we're starting out with fog this morning, but as it clears out, we have a nice day ahead. in los gatos, it's going to be a school start, some low 50s and clearing by about 8:00. throughout the rest of the day, we have sunshine and temperatures in the 70s. we'll get a look at the rest of our microclimate and the weekend forecast in less than five minutes. and a foggy look at fremont. the nimitz freeway moves smoothly right here, but this fog is becoming much more of a factor for your morning commute. we'll show you where it's impacting as things change. thanks so much for staying with us. i want to tell you about a story we're working on for 6:00. an all-new interview with a woman deeply impacted by the camp fire. today is the one-year anniversary. she'll share a little bit of her heartbreak over the deaths of her father and stepbrother in that fire.

it's a very emotional fire and you can only hear it here on "today in the bay." of course, we mourn with her. there was so much loss. new details in the recent deadly shooting of a northern california deputy. the deputy, brian ismael was ambushed in the sierra nevada foothills. authorities now say that two of the men arrested are in the u.s. illegally and were helping guard illegal pot grows. federal prosecutors also say they took orders from someone in mexico. a total of four men are in custody, including the property owner and a man investigators say was managing the grow operation. well, a san francisco woman is suing wells fargo and her former boss at the bank after she says he raped her. >> the woman says antonio perez drugged and raped her last year. sh she worked at a branch in the city at the time. she says he invited her out for drinks, even though she was only 20 at the time. perez allegedly got her into a nightclub and she says ultimately slipped her a date rape drug. the woman says she wasn't able to hold a job after the incident

and is looking for compensation. we reached out to wells fargo and it is not commenting on the lawsuit. this afternoon, san francisco election leaders plan to give another update on the too close to call district attorney's race. after as of yesterday, less than 900 votes separated the two top candidates, suzy loftus, and deputy public defender, chesa do boudin. i mate take days before the winner is actually declared. 5:45. president trump's acting chief of staff has been subpoenaed to appear before the house impeachment inquiry. mick mulvaney is supposed to show up today, scott mcgrew. >> he's supposed to. don't hold your breath. marcus, good morning. we do not expect mulvaney to testify. mulvaney is really not that necessary for what the house the trying to accomplish. they've already had sworn testimony from others showing a quid pro quo. what's interesting about mulvaney here is that he admitted to a quid pro quo twice during a press conference last month.

now, he later retracted it, but the house impeachment inquiry could just play back this tape of the press conference if they don't get his testimony. some of the political pundits in washington are warning mulvaney could end up a fall guy in all of this. so, too, could rudy giuliani and gordon sondland. there's sondland, there's giuliani, there's mulvaney. remember, these men are loyal to the president, but all three have said things that are very damning to the president's case. this is "the washington post" headline this morning. now, lindsey graham who's also very loyal to the president is asking why sondland changed his testimony from, there was no quid pro quo, to yes, there was quid pro quo. in this clip, graham calls hymn sonderland, we know he means sondland. >> here's a question, why did sunderland change his testimony? was there's a difference between sunderland and democratic operatives on the committee? did he talk to schiff or schiff's staffers.

>> that's graham's theory on why sondland changed his testimony from no quid pro quo to, yes, there was. here is another theory. that sondland was the very first person to testify. and i'm obviously having some trouble with my board this morning. all right, sondland's the first one to testify. then all the other people who testified after him talked about quid pro quo. very different from what he said and after these people testified, he suddenly remembered more detail. you may have heard about that book that's coming out. it -- it's friday. it's called "a warning." it's by a person "the new york times" has confirmed is a trump top insider. now, saying all kinds of bad things about the president. you can read this, don't read it, but recognize this. this was written by a person hiding behind his or her name. meanwhile, in washington, longtime republicans, longtime conservatives, trump appointees, a u.s. army officer, all publicly walking past television cameras to testify in public

which, he was excited! >> we had that debate in the newsroom, and some people were like, oh, and i was like, eh. >> i think because after he walked away, he turned back and kind of looked at her in a kind of a cute little flirty way. >> as long as he didn't do the double point. >> that was me. >> that's your thing. >> hey, baby. i just walk around. >> right back at you. >> hey, baby, give me the forecast. >> all right, baby. >> we're going the deal with some low visibility out there. here's a look out in oakland. a lot of drivers already up and out the door getting this friday started. here's a look at our view in san jose. we are going to see that fog drifting around and some low clouds that will linger throughout much of the morning with our visibility, now cut down to about half of a mile. in parts of the north bay. san jose, a mile and three quarters. you're making it okay. we're seeing some lower visibility in oakland as well as check out san martin. we're still at zero here. less than quarter-mile

visibility. and once we go throughout the morning, we are going to gradually see our skies clear. i think by 8:00, we're looking much better. and the rest of the morning, we'll see our temperatures slowly warming up. we'll be at 63 degrees at noon and seeing those temperatures jump quickly into the 70s. reaching 73 in san jose, 71 in palo alto. upper 60s in oakland and some upper 70s for the inland east bay as well as the north bay. really nice day ahead, but if you've been sneezing, your allergies have been bothering, you we have a moderate amount of tree pollen. and of course, that's about what we expect as the leaves start to fall off the trees. so we have a lot of elm, pine, and prive trees that are really starting to shed right now and putting a lot of allergens out there. as we get a live look outside in san jose as you're getting dressed this morning, another cool start, may even be drizzling where you are. so you may need a jacket. but the rest of the day with sunshine and warm weather, you'll be comfortable with some short sleeves on. feels a little bit more like summer during the middle of the day, as this high pressure remains in control, it's going

to keep us warm and also dry. we've seen a lot of storm systems moving up around the pacific northwest, but we've been missing out on that rain. it looks like as that high pressure moves away, there will be a slight chance that we could see some rain by the end of next week. at least we do have some hope for rain in the forecast. after that, though, it does look to go back to a little bit more of a dry pattern. we're in the upper 70s and low 80s for the inland areas. mostly some upper 40s to start out the morning, and looking at san francisco, cool today, due to the fog. we'll see a little bit more sunshine by the end of the weekend into veterans day. mike, you've been tracking the roads and the fog as the big issue. >> that continues to be a factor. as the clouds drift down to the roadway, we call it fog and that's what we're seeing right now with the san mateo bridge. of course, a little farther on, where we can't see because we lose sight of it, we have the high rise which comes up into the clouds. they'll meet somewhere around there. that's west 92. where that yellow does show where there will be much more dense fog as you travel around the bay.

but it's still in patches all around as it has been for the last couple of days and a little slowing just south of the area, through sunol. chp warned actually for this entire stretch of 680 right here through the tri-valley, 80 in towards fremont and jackson, scotts valley. -- scott creek road, i'm sorry. also scotts valley. down towards the summit, dense fog and a disabled vehicle as you travel southbound. do be careful. much more of this yellow highlighted as of the last ten minutes have drifted through. so has the fog. highway 4 slows through pittsburgh and in towards concord. a mild build, because it is friday, but we still have the metering lights on and with lower visibility, that will be a major factor. you saw on the maps, novato down into san rafael, definitely limited visibility. and here you see the live cameras at san rafael. early morning, we had a crash on highway 12 heading into sevastopol. and in that call also said, very dense fog. be careful. back to you. >> thanks, mike. well, happening now, a deadly 5.9 earthquake strikes in

e-cigarettes says it will stop selling is mint-flavored pods. san francisco's juul labs made the announcement yesterday in the wake of a new white house effort to ban flavored e-cigarettes. and it comes days after san francisco voted overwhelmingly to go forward with a citywide ban on vaping sales. congressman mark desaulnier just introduced legislation to immediately halt sales nationwide. >> it bans e-cigarettes until the fda, the federal drug administration, does their due diligence and tells us whether they're safe or not. >> according to the centers for disease control, vaping has killed at least 39 people. tens of thousands of others have gotten sick. and it's still not clear what's causing the problem. 5:58 right now. and while critics are quick to call silicon valley a boy's club, a new study shows more women are pursuing tech careers. >> out of 100,000 women, more than half had technical skills such as coding. many spurred by tech education at an early age.
