i'm phillip mena >> i'm cori coffin a record-breaking arctic blast sweeping across the country bringing dangerously cold temperatures as this system moves east it's expected to impact 80% of the country, across 41 states. snow has already fallen in the midwest in the great lakes region but more is on the way. chicago is expected to see several inches this morning as well winter more than a month away still but those lows are coming to areas that could be considered cold even fors below. over the next few days nearly 200 records could be broken. the impeachment inquiry will come to life on tefths screens this week with the first round of public testimony set to begin wednesday. the house will question a trio of government officials who initially gave depositions behind closed doors. acting u.s. ambassador to ukraine william taylor and assistant secretary of state george kent will tell their stories first. meanwhile, president trump is in new york city this morning he'll speak at the veterans day

also this morning a surprising new claim from the former ambassador to the united nations, nikki haley in her new memoir she claims that then secretary of state rex tillerson and chief of staff john kelly tried to recruit her to "save the country by resisting the president. she rejected undermining the president and told them so tillerson and kelly did not respond for comment. there's a sense of renewed hope for the u.s. family of a missing case on robt levinson levinson, who suffers from diabetes and disappeared in iran 12 years ago -- this comes as the u.s. is now offering up $25 million for information about levinson here's nbc's erin mclaughlin >> reporter: after years of agony a glimmer of hope for the family of robert levinson. >> we believe that my father is still alive and we believe that iran knows exactly what has happened to my father, can find him and bring him home >> reporter: in 2007 the former fbi agent vanished from the
