a bd yet smooth taste. ♪ ♪ 1850 coffee, begin boldly. november 18th. downtown san jose the lights are shining and so are the lights in our studio. >> they're very bright. >> thanks for starting your morning with us. >> hope you had a great weekend. we'll get to that monday morning commute but what about the forecast for today? >> pretty good. still warm this afternoon. we're starting out with cool temperatures this morning. a live look outside in fremont as we see mostly clear skies. as we head through the rest of the forecast we're going to see temperatures start out in the low 50s and head into the upper 70s for a lot of areas. in concord we'll be at 456:00 a

67, looking at highs inland in the upper 70s. we'll talk about what's ahead for the rest of the week, mike, you were conrt iedht heading over towards the east volume of traffic but eastbound shore freeway, reports of a wrong way driver about here, about harbor. that report came in about a half-hour ago and a flurry of chp units were dispatched and i saw them clear one by one from their responsibilities so i don't think anything else is going on after the initial report which is kind of astonishing because if that was the case, they wouldn't leave. we're watching for updates and right now no major crashes. back to you. developing in fresno, a police manhunt under way right now after someone shot ten people, killing four of them at a back yard gathering. >> it happened l abot night and 35 people were gathered to watch sunday night football. so far, no update on the six people injured. police say the shooter or shooters snuck into the back

yard and opened fire. at this point they do not believe the victims were targeted but they have no idea we just don'tw came up and shot several times on the backside of it. it looks like it was a target. we just don't know what the reason was. >> police say there were children at the home but none were injured. the victims are said to be between the ages of 25 and 35 years old. chris sanchez is in our newsroom following developments and she'll have more at the top of the hour. it's possible by the middle of the week thousands of bay area homes and businesses may lose power again due to high fire danger. >> that's the word from pg&e which is now warning possible outages as soon as wednesday. that's when potentially strong winds may return to the bay area. pg&e says up to 19 northern california counties may experience shutoffs so far no final decision has been made. as soon as this morning the utility may start to notify customers. right now three bay area

counties could fill that impact. we're talking about napa, sonoma counties. we'll have more during the 5:00 a.m. hour. 4:33 right now and the east bay hills is not among the places in line to lose but with the fire danger picking up, volunteers did what they could over the weekend to help reduce fire risks. >> as christie smith reports, they worked near the area that burned in the 1991 firestorm. >> reporter: the work to cut back dry weeds and grass in oakland is important to sue piper. >> we lost our home in 1991 so both of us have dedicated our lives for the last 28 years to wildfire prevention. >> reporter: her husband is hair of the oakland landscape from the world mission society church of god pitched in around the area of the north oakland regional "sportscenter."

>> seems like the fire risk gets worse and worse. >> reporter: piper says when pg&e shut off power recently to thousands of customers to reduce wildfire risk, she did not lose power at home but she saw a chance to fine tune her emergency plan. >> it allowed me to get batteries, make sure i had flashlights in every room. >> reporter: pg&e says there is an elevated potential for a power shutoffmid-week in parts of the north bay and sierra foothills. their map shows other parts of the bay area could be impacted too. >> it's very preliminary but it's mirroring the conditions which affected 177,000. we have not yet identified any cities or counties. we have not called the event. >> reporter: pg&e is monitoring conditions but in oakland people who know the devastation from 1991 have put in long hours to do their part. they've been at it for years. >> we really areat ts kind of support. it helps make us safer, and many

of the people who live in these hills are not getting any younger. >> reporter: in oakland, christie smith, "today in the bay". as we move closer to potential power shutoffs, nbcbayarea.com will have all the important information you need to know. you can check to see if you are in that shutoff zone. this is through both the website and our free mobile app. an unusual twist this morning in a recent south bay molestation case. police recently reportedly believe that a south bay prosecutor used his 13-year-old girl as bait to lure the suspect into being caught. authorities arrested ali lajmiri last week. he's accused of sexually molesting a 13-year-old girl who the mercury news reports is the prosecutor's daughter. the father reportedly recorded the suspect touching the girl last week an the los alamitos trail. the arrest was made but the

prosecutor may now be in line to face child endangerment charges. the da's office has recused itself. it is 4:36. the owners of a san francisco ice cream store offering a reward to track down a vandal caught on video. the vandal can be seen using acid on the storefront and caused thousands of dollars in damage and then took photos of it with his phone. the shop is located in the mission. the owners hope they can track him down. >> he has very particular shoes that not only are they very expensive but they're very unique. >> this isn't the first time the store has been vantallized. last year three people targeted the store along with neighboring shops. this time around only the ice cream shop was targeted.

here's at the opening bell. ever wnd t&p saw record highs. reports on housing and the consumer, several retailers report earnings including home depot, lowes and target and the fed released minutes from last month's meeting where they cut interest rates. red box settling a lawsuit. disney does not have an agreement so red box was forced

to buy disney movies elsewhere. ey bundled dvds with digital downloads and red box would often sell those at lower prices. disney says that violates contracts and copyright. ford unveiling its first all electric suv as sales of electric vehicles are projected to boom. the mustang goes 230 to300 mile. the five-passenger vehicle resembles and mustang and ford says it comes close to that car's performance. it's expected to go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in a little over six seconds. preorders are being taken right now and the suv will reach showrooms next fall. prices start at just under $4 $44,000. back to you guys. >> sounds like my type of vehicle. >> get your order in. >> thanks. coming up for you right here on "today in the bay" carrie a look at that monday forecast.

>> it's on me. >> thank you. looking outside for us y, h? >> great weather for the opening tonit and we are going to have warm weather throughout the week but that may also cause some problems and we'll talk more about that. let's get you out the door this morning with a live lk outside in walnut creek. it's a clear start to the day, cool temperatures. we're dropping down to about 46 degrees so grab that jacket as you head out the door. we'll go from 46 to 67 at 11:00. this will be the last really warm day like we've had from over the weekend. we are going to have a cooldown in store so enjoy outside today, low 70s in san francisco, mid 70s in napa. livermore will reach 78 and in san jose we're up to about 75. we will have a cold front on the way and we can see it on the satellite imagery, the stream of clouds that will be moving closer to the bay area. as it does it will also cause our winds to increase and unfortunately that cold front

will not bring any rain so it's going to be gusty. as the winds turn offshore, therel be high fire danger warning for these areas shaded in blue. that includes elevations above 1,000 feet for the east bay hills as well as the north bay hills. we could see gusts reaching 50 to 60 miles per hour. as we go throughout the forecast for the next couple of weeks, it still shows that much of the bay area from now leading into thanksgiving will not have much rain except for the north bay. these are two different computer models that still show very little rain for the bay area. we are also going to have gusty winds picking u on especially for those north bay and east bay hills. then look at the cooldown we'll see. we're heading back to normal type weather temperature-wise going into the middle to end of this week. upper 60s on the way. as we head back over to mike,

you have an early crowd at the bay bridge. i thought maybe it was a burst of traffic but it's been here for about 20 minutes and now we're starting to see more traffic flowing through the fast track lanes. we had the early back-up and we don't have one of those lanes open yet but that won't change too dramatically over the next 15 minutes as we open up those lanes. we're showing a good volume of traffic at the toll plaza. this is we'rein tl plaza but we'll watch, again, a little early for that right now. drir cleared so no longer a concern as far as the report goes. we'll watch for other updates for the eastbound 580. the bridge, some debris reported in the area. we'll track that and let you know if it's a problem. we're looking over here, taking about 17 or 18 minutes from marsh creek road, merge toward one lane. a smooth drive getting down towards 580 out of brentwood,

massacre. on this day in 1978, more than 900 americans died at the jones town settlement in guyana, south america. people's temple cult leader jim jones ordered hisde ofiv people at a nearby air strip. bay area representative jackie speier barely escaped with her life. >> she tried to get her washer and dryer replaced but says she was being charged for critical components. i'm consumer investigator chris ga mora. we respond, next. happening now, syracuse university students holding a sit-in following a ring of racially charged episodes. the latest took place on saturday night when members of one fraternity are accused of having used racial slurs against an african-american student.

area responds to a san jose woman whose washer and dryer left her hung out to dry. >> when she tried to get them replaced she says the store asked her to pay extra for a central part. >> debbie fish bought her washer and dryer as a set at sears. she paid extra for the master protection plan, and she ended up needing that. the washer quick working. after several attempts to fix it, sears agrd to replace both the washer and dryer since they were a set, but debbie says orused for ed her for sales tax,
