winds. when the winds calm down we don't have temperatures as warm. it's actually allowing for that cold air, that warm air that was near the surface to escape and start to cool off. we are looking at temperatures much cooler this morning in the north bay while our afternoon highs will match yesterday's reaching into the mid-60s this afternoon for downtown san jose, reaching up to 67 in east san jose. we're 60s in t in danville. in san mateo a high of 62 degrees. we hav san francisco and some upper 60s in santa rosa as well as napa reaching 66 degrees. as you get a look out the window, you're about to get dressed, grab a warmer jacket because of the chilly start and maybe a hat, too. you don't have to worry about it blowing away today with our winds calming down so that area of low pressure moving off to the east will start to see high
4:48 am
pressure building for the weekend and that's going to help warm us up a few more degrees. a pleasantly warm weekend and then weep see the changes going into next week. this storm system drops in and as it slides down california it will bring in some sierra snow and some rain. and it looks like this time going into wednesday and thursday we have a pretty good chance of seeing at least scattered showers and possibly another chance of rain next friday which will bring a big change in our weather pattern that we've seen recently but, unfortunately right now we don't have a good handle on how much rain we're going to see because our models are kind of disagreeing right now. this is the euro model and it is a higher resolution one but it does show we're looking at about two to two and a half inches of rain in parts of the north bay as well as the east bay and along the coast. then we have the gfs model showing much lighter amounts of rain, maybe a quarter of an inch. so they're just all over the place right now.
